I think we've reached a limit graphically on current gen hardware which explains why the game doesn't look too much different from last year - it was already one of the best looking sports titles out there. With that in mind I was hoping to see some navigation/menu system/franchise mode improvements to give the game some sense of fresh appeal. It captures all of the subtle nuances of baseball and does a great job with the actual gameplay of course, so something to make it feel a bit different from last year would have been welcome.

Dude, they changed the entire physics engine. I'm fine with them altering/adding bells and whistles, but the new physics engine could be the single most dynamic addition they've made since moving to the PS3. I still think the physics of the ball off the bat in MVP Baseball 2005 are superior to anything MLB the Show has produced thus far. If this new engine is as badass as it sounds, it may finally be time to forget MVP for good. I'm stoked.

You misunderstood me slightly. I'm not criticising the game for a start but it's suffering what many games that reach a peak suffer from. What can you add, change or do differently. The new physics engine is great although I thought the old one was far superior to MVP anyway and I can't wait to try it out. But it's not one of those things that will make you keep coming back again and again. In contrast, every time I play a game of NBA 2k12 there's a different intro to the game before. That's what I mean when I talk about it feeling different. The one aspect of the game that I have found awkward and ugly, honestly, over recent years has been the backend UI. It really needs freshening up and changing to be much more intuitive and user friendly. But then my job is UI based so that's why I am fussy.

I love the generic baseball-man they have to demonstrate the motion controls.

He must've done a good job, because they put him on the cover too!

@AndyMP: Yeah, the game has looked pretty much the same, with a few visual flairs added in over the last few years. They've said that all the UI/art has been replaced. The new ball physics should add more realism, visually and with gameplay and I think I heard them mention that fielder AI is improved to fielders will take more realistic routes to balls and more specific appropriate animations. So an example I heard was a ground ball to a infielder, if you barely fill the throw meter early you'll get a more casual animation. The base graphics might not improve year to year, but looking back the small additions and refinements each year make the game look better and better, even if the graphics remain stagnent.

My head will probably explode when I see this game on the next gen playstation, and I want that. Badly.

One part of that trailer looked like an Ultimate Team type screen, with cards displayed. Adding an Ultimate Team-type mode would really put The Show way over 2K. Personally, I've enjoyed The Show a lot more than MLB2K for the past few years, and I really enjoy the Ultimate Team in FIFA and NHL.

MLB 10: The show was amazing. Same with MLB11. I can't imagine it's going to be that much of a diversion from what they've already done right. And if move controls work- i will be using them. RTTS is easily the best part about these games.

@LooseChange:

It's been confirmed that you can transfer franchise and Road to the Show saves between versions.

@froggeh:

Full Move support in every mode from what I've read.

If they include the feature which I can take my franchise or Road to the Show character with me on the Vita, you can guarantee I will be picking up both versions.
