I honestly find it incredibly disheartening that despite all the money and time invested into this product, the story and writing are just terrible. I know the battles are at the forefront of the design process, but I just wish someone at Blizzard, anyone at all with a bit of talent, would take a real interest in the tale and really try to craft it into something memorable.

And there i was thinking that the Zerg campaign would be the same, as Wings of Liberty, only from the Zergs point of view. This sounds so much better and now i totally want to Heart of the Swarm!

So, Kerrigan is human and still commanding the Zerg? What a bitch.

they just wanted to make her hot again. cuz theyre losers and have no creativity and their stories are made by ppl who check off boxes. and the 'hot lady' box wasnt checked off yet so there ya go.

I'm honestly confused now. Was the writing and tone of Starcraft 1 head and shoulders above Starcraft 2, or is that just the nostalgia of my 15-year-old self talking? I can't believe how bad Starcraft 2 seems to be in that department.

I remember being fascinated about Starcraft's back story (especially with the Xel-Naga creator race). I thought Arcturus Mengsk had such charm that I can see how it would be easy to fall in with his revolution. I remember thinking Kerrigan was actually a tragic character. I remember feeling that the Zerg were a brilliant, Lovecraftian nightmare.

What I don't remember is a souless blend of Gears of War and Star Wars by way of Michael Bay.

Did anyone else think that the score at the beginning of this trailer sounded like the score from Inception?

Nah, I'd agree.

I love SCII for a lot of reasons, but story-wise it's a complete wash. The dialog in particular stands out as completely trite.

Of all the Blizzard related things announced recently this is the only one that makes sense to me.

Agreed. I loved SC for its story, interesting characters and great blend of gameplay and story elements, how one integrated seamlessly with one another. You can see how I'm not a big fan of CS2. Bought the first one but after seeing wings of liberty I don't really care about much other than watching those CG scenes on youtube. They do look great, albeit the story they tell is nothing short than forgettable.

Bought Starcraft 2 because of all the hype, and I ended up not even playing half the campaign. So I think I'll skip on this one.

Would love to see a Startcraft movie along the lines of Advent Children. Those CG camera moves are incredibly cinematic.

I will play the campaign but won't touch the multiplayer so I will wait for a price drop.

I mean that I wont be able to play the heart of the swarm for the mere fact I need to finish 1. It would bother me to much to skip it even though iv had it since launch.. I even bought the damn Collectors!

Hey Activision, this is how you make your fans love a series; release one mindblowing title and its subsequent sequels every 2/3 years, not 12 months.

Is it bad that I play this game for the campaign and not the multiplayer?

I'm not sure. Blizzard games in the last 10 years haven't really lived up to my expectations, and I get a heavy Star Wars vibe from this, while the original StarCraft felt much more like some kind of hybrid between Aliens, Babylon 5 and Starship Troopers.

Will pick it up, as this is pretty much the one Blizzard franchise I still have some interest in, but ... yeah.
