Ehh..there are other Suda titles I'd rather see on the PC. I'd pay full price for a Shadows of the Damned even if I played through it on the PS3 when it was released. Hell I'd even install Origin for it since, if I recall, it was an EA partners release.

Watched Matt n Pat play through this, don't really feel a need to play it myself but seems like a decently fun goofy game. Not Suda's best, not his worst, kinda in the middle. Art style is pretty sweet at least, hope he uses it again in a future project.

I agree. This game sucks. Its not good. The mini game was hilarious and nonsensical but just a short distraction from the dullness of the main game. The main plot was something about the moon and the powers it gave you or something like that, it was bad but who cares. One thing I did like about the game was the cool visual art style, it looked great. I also thought I'd see more of the female with 16 arms or at least play as her but that wasnt the case. All in all, bad game. Stay away.

I'm playing this on PS3 right now. 40% through, I guess? And it's really stale for a Suda 51 game.

@zapf: All your personal attacks aside, have you actually played the game? I'm not trying to say it's the greatest thing in the world or anything, but the one part where you have to look at fake virtual breasts is fairly negligible compared to the rest of the experience. Roughly 90% of the game is running around and cutting down various robots in order to collect shiny gems. Practically all cutscenes border on gibberish and have nothing to do with sexual encounters.

So my ridiculous and idiotic, thinly veiled attempt at objectivity is trying to point out that hey, it's mostly a rather rote character action title that has nothing sexual going on apart from a silly side mini game. A side mini game that isn't setting the world on fire with misogynistic hate. So if you want to hate on it, hate on the fact that it is extremely Japanese, which translates to archaic menu systems, stiff movement, big emphasis on repeated playthroughs and grinding. Don't give it a one star because it has a bit of sex in it.

As a last aside, try to articulate your own arguments without falling back on petty name calling. I'm not trying to make you out to be some idiot, I simply don't agree with your assessment of the game and am trying to explain why. It would be decent of you to return the same courtesy if you in fact don't want this place to sound like Reddit.

I wrote a review for this game on the site primarily because I was so taken aback by the review Arthur Gies wrote for it. Decent game with some neat ideas - it's as Japanese as it gets which can go both ways depending on who you are.

Most non-awful human beings would consider the way Killer is Dead went as gross and awful, and trying to excuse it as "Japanese" is also fuckin gross. I'm sorry you're mad that people (not just Arthur) called it out on that.

By most non-awful human beings you mean a select margin of society that cannot see past satire as they're too outraged by the same rote sexification that has plagued all areas of media for ages. It's a silly, very often impenetrable game that unlike what Gies wrote, isn't trying to actively mock or discredit women and isn't in of itself an attack on their person or rights. If the optional gigalo missions offend you as a human being then maybe video games are too explicit a medium for you.

Am i on reddit right now? When literally the first excuse you make is, "its satire," it makes me think so, and not really inclined to engage in actual discussion w/r/t this. Looking at the last few posts you have made, it seems you are either willfully obtuse (your big ass wall of text on castlevania - you're "a big fan of vampires" but apparently are completely ignorant to the way sexual predation is a big 'ol Thing in shit like Dracula and other vampire mythos,) are really defensive of games you want to like, or maybe you're one of those people who really hate thinking about stuff beyond gameplay or "feelings" or just really don't like girls or something??? Maybe you can fill me in

So yah be critical, but go about it in an intelligent way. Tell people how the game plays and rate it accordingly.

Oh, WELL, lmao. please try and cloak your "objective whaaaaaaa pfffff fart" review whinings a little better next time.

@humanity: Are you implying that this game being satire makes it above criticism, regardless of whether people think it falls flat in some way?

Not at all - I'm saying criticism should be levied where it counts, that is gameplay and story, and a single somewhat arbitrary side portion of the experience shouldn't define the game as a whole. I gave the game 3/5 and was critical of the gameplay and structure which I thought were lacking in sme areas while interesting in others. The gigolo side missions which require the player to stare at your date in a lewd manner while she's not looking in order to raise a meter (ironically a brain filling with blood rather than what one would expect to be quite the opposite) made roll my eyes but nothing beyond that. At no point did I think the game is being misogynistic as some reviewers made it out to be.

So yah be critical, but go about it in an intelligent way. Tell people how the game plays and rate it accordingly.

I'm quite interested in this. I think it's the first game of Suda51 to get ported to PC so I might grab it and play it, since most of his games are a part of a certain niche that I would like to try. Although I would of preferred myself to get Lollipop Chainsaw or Shadows of the Damned instead (maybe later hopefully?), I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Now if only Sega would make Platinum port Bayonetta and Vanquish I would die a happy man. After the pretty decent port of MGRR, I really wish to see more of Platinum games and other Japanese developed games being ported to the PC.

PS: Not all of us are pirates, give us some love as well Japan!

Suda51 is one of the few people I can point at there video game work and say its a master piece of story telling so I will definitely be picking this up.

Be warned: this seems to be the least well-received of the recent Suda games so far, for various reasons due to gameplay, humor, or overall vibe.

So pardon my Killer is Dead ignorance and all, but I didn't follow this much when it came out on console. What is the game like in general? A hack n slasher it looks like, but I'm getting a different vibe from it also. Can't put my finger on it. Should I just watch the GB quick look on it? Or will that spoil anything story wise since this looks to be a more story focused game than say, Killer 7 etc.

Little weird that the trailer is all clips of the final levels (spoiler) and the barely connected to anything else kill the Yakuza whos to bad ass do die chapter.

Man, this game was disappointing in the gameplay department and downright creepy (in a bad way) at times. I'd say wait for a sale but here's an even better idea: watch the cutscenes on youtube then play Metal Gear Rising Revengeance instead of getting this game.

Except for the mechanics, a PC version of killer 7 would be outstanding. But ppl. would be all rail shooter-ing it up in the comments. Shadows of the Damned was well written, and passable in gameplay.

I still have my PS2 Killer 7 copy, and my backwards-compatible launch PS3. It's the only PS2 game I have.

Is Valve talking to these Japanese developers to get their games on Steam or did they finally realize digital distribution on PC was a viable way to sell their crazy games to the West?

EIther way, I'm always glad to see more Japanese games on PC. Hopefully some JRPGs and SRGs make it over too.

cool. I'm slowly becoming a suda51 fan. Fun boss fights. Some depth to the game mechanics usually. Nearly unchecked insanity in the story and settings. Hey, at least you'll see something different.

PC games must doing well for Japanese developers/publishers to be being porting some of their more obscure games all of the sudden. I mean your Resident Evils, sure those are expected, but I was shocked when a Naruto game showed up on Steam.

The market accepting digital distribution probably has a lot to do with that since publishers don't have to swallow the costs of physical distribution and just need to worry about programming time only.

Hopefully it's a good port.
