Devs who want to make a good star trek game should study carefully; star trek away team, Bridge commander, Starfleet academy and the space combat from the star trek mmo.

Why can no one figure out "Star Trek RPG", someone make it happen already.

I forgot this game existed. Now that I've watched this trailer, I can foresee myself forgetting its existence once again.

Let me give you some advice guys: Star Trek is a lot like Mass Effect - my reasons for liking both universes has nothing to do with wanting to play a cover-based third-person shooter.

I really enjoyed the cinematic-al action of the trailer and await it's release. Looks to be a lot of fun.

I'd love a Star Trek Mass Effect style RPG. That's kinda why I've been sticking with Star Trek Online, on the whole it's not great, but there have been some really good user created missions that have had an Mass Effect-ish feel to them. If they could only make the universe feel coherent and open for you to explore it could've been great, even with it's poor ground combat.

I love this "People still [X]?" thing people do now. Because they always do it as a way to sound like they're too cool to [X], and they always end up just looking clueless instead.

Back on topic: Game looks incredibly uninteresting. Just another safe, unimaginative third person cover shooter-by-numbers.

There's a Star Trek Mass Effect? Why? If I recall correctly, the special thing about Star Trek is that there is very little shooting at all. Ship combat yes, but very few firefights. It's one of the reasons Star Trek Online doesn't feel particularly Star Trek-esque, because you're constantly fighting enemies.

This doesn't look like Mass Effect, I would be happier if it did. I don't see any conversations or exploration elements. Instead looks like a tightly scripted action game along the lines of Uncharted. I'm fine with that style of game, but it's not what I want from Star Trek game, even if it is in line with the action heavy tone of the new movies :(

@Irvandus: Think they did with the Star Trek MMO on the PC. Pretty fun.

After seeing this I'm glad to see more Star Trek decent looking games but still mixed thoughts on how much I enjoy the new reboot film of the franchise.

@bko: Rentals are vastly different from what they used to be, I'd hardly call gamefly a traditional rental service since it's that weird subscription type deal. Also Redbox doesn't exist everywhere in the world, I've never even seen an image of one let alone seen one in real life, I know zero people who use them as well.

@Sweetz: Agreed, even the art direction seems to be more video game than Star Trek. Even with the high saturation of Abrams Star Trek, this really does not capture the feel or look of that film or any other.

Alas, I the Star Trek game of my dreams is impossible to make in reality.

Go watch the new Star Trek movie, and then watch Star Trek Voyager.

You can practically see the dialog wheel and the squad selection screen pop up in Voyager, which I feel like I need to remind you, was in the mid-to-late-90s.

As a Star Trek Fan, I am looking forward to this just for more ST content, need to see more of the game to make a final decision but right now I'm probably gonna get it.

In Kirk-era it was mostly 3 main guys and a red shirts to be killed on away missions

The Gorn are the enemies. I will buy this game for that reason alone. If they show up in the new film I might just go into a fanboy coma.

Imagine all the conflict that could be avoided if they did have a fun setting on all the phasers in Star Trek.

Not enough shoddily made costumes or jazzy music to be Star Trek.

If this means I get to play with Chris Pine and Zachery Quinto, count me in.
