Know What You're Getting Into in I Am Alive

Looks like a good filler til Fallout 3 gets here.  The combat looks 
shitty, but I'll still play it.  Although it might be awhile before I get
to it since ME 3 & ME in general will be soaking up my time...
ME & Skyrim anyway.

I am very excited about this because it looks truly unique. A lot of people are concerned about the combat, but it's clear that combat isn't the answer for everything in this game. I like the idea of just scaring people with a gun and getting them to back down. It's a really cool mechanic and I hope it works well.

I can't wait.

Probably just a money issue. You can't really put out a boxed copy of a game unless you invested the right amount of money, I have to think. Unless they were to put it out as like a $20 boxed game, but that I don't think anyone has ever done that. With that said, I'm not sure if the game was originally supposed to be a boxed product before being made into a downloadable.

Yeah, it is ungodly expensive to ship a boxed copy of a game and expect it to make a decent profit. With something more niche like this game it's smart to go for the higher profit-margins and keep it as a digitally-distributed game where all you have to worry is cost of development instead of packaging, fuel for the trucks, buying shelf space from a retailer, etc. The general public isn't going to be all over a game like this where you're encouraged not to shoot everything that moves. There's a reason why most of the more-cerebral and unique games to come out in the last 3 years or so have been download-only.

Hang tight @Autechresaint it's very likely that if this game succeeds you'll see it on PC sooner or later. They're just getting their console money like Braid and Monday Night Combat and the like did before them. I absolutely cannot blame them.

well im happy the game is made but i still wish it was more like the original trailer they released for it a few years back.

I like the idea of this game. Worried about the gameplay part of it though.

Too bad that it's coming out the same week as Mass Effect 3.

The music there in the begining made me think of Heavy Rains theme right away!

I get what you mean, but you should understand that this is a downloadable game that needs to be compressed within 2gigs of memory space. You can't do Uncharted-like mo-cap animations with that type of memory. If you look at this game considering the ressources Ubisoft Shanghai had, it's super impressive.

Also, totally buying this. I'm more interested in this than ME3.

Seems an interesting take/direction on the post apoc setting that too many are simply too afraid to take. Will be definately picking this up.

incredibly excited for this game even if it is a budget game. Hope it keeps up its' promises.

Conceptually it sounds really cool. But I can't help thinking it'll suck based on the stiff platforming and combat, and the troubled dev cycle

The way they keep pushing the "emotional" idea makes me a bit doubtful.

Every time i have seen a developer diary talking about "cool" shit in there game a good percentage of the time that game has gone on to be a financial and critical failure.Yeah there needs to be more original games out there but the combat looks like poop and the exploration is a poor mans uncharted.

@Hulkamaniac: I always just use a random date, though I see that giantbomb saves my settings so it's actually always set to my real birthday now.

I like this game's spirit. If it's decent I'll pick it up.

I always wonder the statistics of "People born on Jan 1st" from age restricted videos.

Backing Up: The Game

This sounds pretty good on paper, but I'm skeptical about their ability to make the game work as intended. Unfortunately, ME3 and SFXT come out the day before this does, so I guess I'll just leave this alone for now and maybe check it out later. Maybe we'll get a Quick Look?

Hahaha, that's exactly what I thought when I saw that.

I wonder if there can be an action/adventure/survival game with a truly realistic protagonist that is still fun.

Combat looks like it might be shit, least the up close and personal side. Everything else looks pretty interesting. Enough to over look a lot of faults. which im getting the impression this game has. Seems like it could be one of those underrated gems that wont be a huge hit, but will really get a hold of the people who like the game.

This looks awesome BUT I hope it isn't linear. I want a fallout 3 style walk around and find a camp of survivors/bandits kind of thing, please let it not be a linear story... that would be hella boring and disappointing.

Hope this carries through with their ambition. I'm a bit leery when the kitchen sink is promised but it looks like they've set their own bar quite high.
