Lara Croft Costume DLC in Lightning Returns: FF XIII? Sure, Why the Hell Not

Needs a Deus Ex: Human Revolution-style costume now if it's gonna be taken to this level.

The voice actress is the same as Liara? Yeah, that makes sense. She worked well as a sorta innocent, quiet, science-y sort of girl in Mass Effect 1 but Liara's forced, "I-live-in-a-dark-world-now" voicing in ME2 was not really all that good.

Can the main character in FFXV laugh and crack bad jokes? Please? I'd like a Final Fantasy character that doesn't necessarily break the fourth wall, but is aware of how ludicrous everything around him is. Like Balthier, for instance. Balthier was pretty much the reason I pulled through those dragging first eight or so hours of FFXII.

reboot!Lara Croft's outfit isn't really "sexy", so I'm not sure what the point is here.

Pretty sure her hair is pink.

People complaining about the dress-up aspect apparently have not been paying attention to spinoff FF games for quite some time!

Oh wow really, people don't like Lightning's voice acting? Count me in the minority I guess. I love the voice work for both Lightning and Liara, Ali Hillis is the actor that does them both.

Not too much interest in this game though.

Christ, Lightning is such a dull character. They really should have switched out the voice actor too, maybe bring in someone who can at least make Lightning sound a little less bored of existing.

I have no opinion on this and have been actively avoiding these kind of conversations lately but dude...that is ridiculous.

I think SE is just not making it clear enough that the customizable costumes are important part of combat mechanics, making it seems like it's just all about dressing her up rather than customizing the outfits to suit the situation. Basically they just took the equipment system from previous titles and instead of having a whole bunch of accessories what you'll never get to see, now those bonuses and effect are incorporated in clothing and at least to me that's more interesting way of doing it.

Edit: But yeah, the voice-acting on Lightning is bit of a hit or miss. I think her performance was better as Liara (ME1, ME3) and that doctor from Starcraft 2 which might have suited her voice better. You can actually spot the same kind of issue in Mass Effect 2 where Liara's tone was supposed to be more angry and tough, similiar to Lightning in this clip and it also sounded a little bit forced.

Lightning doesn't really fill that top like Lara does.

@huser: In the demo costumes/garbs seemed to have one or two locked abilities, I'm not 100% sure if they'll be exclusive to that outfit or not though but it seems to be what you'd want.

I love Bayonetta, but I might consider the character who routinely loses all of her clothing and is designed to be 80% legs a somewhat bigger offender than a minor increase in a characters chest.

Character design can be sexy without pandering - e.g. Bayonetta - but making the boobs on an existing character bigger is pretty clearly an effort to appeal to a lowest common denominator. As the intended target of that pandering, you should be irritated that the developers think so little of you.

The difference between a real woman getting a boob job and a video game woman getting her breasts drawn larger is the difference between having a sexy girlfriend and having a sexy body pillow. Don't let video games be like sexy body pillows.

If you feel that your male sexuality is being stifled, may I suggest that the very device on which you composed and transmitted your complaint can deliver unto you more free pornography that you could possibly consume in your lifetime?

Next dress her up like Adam Jensen, Raziel, Garrett, and #47. Because Eidos must be strip-mined by their square-enix masters.

I mean 13-2 had DLC clothes from Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed, at least Square Enix had something to do with the game this is based on.

Is it only pandering if men enjoy it? I am curious because I never see this in any other situation, everytime I see the word pandering it's in this type of situation. Why is it always pandering when it comes to this type of thing? So are you saying that women in real life pander to men as well when they dress all sexy and such? or are they doing that to feel sexy for themselves? Is it only when a man creates something sexual for men that it's pandering? Or am I missing something here? I don't think these costumes are pandering, I honestly think these costumes were made because he wanted to make em, nothing more.

It's really starting to feel like society is trying real hard to stifle male sexuality, make men feel bad for liking things of a sexual nature. It's fucking sad.

I dunno about the story, the art direction, or the voice acting, but the mechanics in the demo were really fun, and ultimately that's all that really matters to me.

eh, the difference is that Lightning is a game character designed by men (and she isn't too bad from what I remember of 13, certainly not sexualized much) and these costumes can become pandering and silly in a demeaning way. Lightning is not a sentient, actual woman making a choice on what she wears and how she carries herself, she's an avatar you stare at for tens of hours. You control her(in a straightforward game) and dress her up to your liking. It's not really the same thing.

Anyway, these games seem impossible to actually look forward to. Nothing exciting about them after XIII proper was the biggest drag in a while, and XII was such a smart, cool game if not flawed.
