Quite the enjoyable demo, too, as far as I'm concerned. My friend leaderboards are already getting a bit competitive.
 
My only quibble is that spike strips don't shut down or cripple a racer tremendously. I'd prefer spike strips be much easier to evade and harder to use, for the benefit of a near-guaranteed takedown or crippling the handling of a racer if they hit.

I liked the demo but hated that long, 'unskipable' trailer they made you watch before even letting you into the menu. I loved the old PS1 game so I'm sure I'll enjoy this. :) Hopefully. :| ..Maybe. :(

And yet they couldn't find the time to make a PC version of the demo. :(

Why do i have the feeling seeing this video that i am looking at Burnout? It's only has a NFS name but all the mechanics from burnout are there,the crashing cars,the slow-mo,the nitro's. This makes me sad,this is not NFS Hot pursuit....

Probably gonna give this a go when I get home from work. Looks great.

Played the demo a ton since downloading it. I'm really enjoying it, and it reminds me a lot of the original Hot Pursuit for playstation 1.  I went ahead and preordered this.

What is he saying at 1.55? Heavily inspired by what?

that trailer had me thinking that their must be a lot in the demo if they are going to force me to watch all this crap. then i find only one race and another that you have to unlock. pretty much a big meh. also, who the hell is approving all this unlocking stuff within demos? "

I played Dark Horse a bunch, but didn't find it terrible fun. The turns are REALLY subtle, which is probably for the best because short of a really slow to dig into drift mechanic, your never going to turn much at all. Unfortunately, none of my friends are interested in getting the demo so I can't try out the other part of the demo so far. Doesn't seem terribly great, and it felt like all I was doing was smashing or using the tools. The trailers make it look like there are complicated enough physics (or at least scripting) that allows you to spin out the racers. Despite doing what should have been excellent execution of a move that might do such a thing a few times (not an easy feat considering you turn at about the speed of a piece of paper floating to the ground), and often smashing a car does no damage at all. Grinding a car into a rail, even with a solid impact into it, doesn't seem very effective, and while the strip is pretty good at taking out racers, you get a lot less points for using it. Another issue I ran into was when a racer was completely stopped, but still had health, there was no sort of "Hey you captured him good job!", he just respawned and went on his merry way.

Only *just* realised why I'm not as excited for this game as I should be... there's no character! 
 
It looks ridiculously polished, but there's zero pieces of interest on the screen. Very bland overall.

I don't think that guy said "cool" enough times.

Argh not enough time tonight to get the demo downloaded. Can't wait to play this, keeping my fingers crossed it's as entertaining as the last Hot pursuit.
 
By the way, this game looks smoooooooth.

I'm willing to bet that everyone who has said "meh" about this hasn't actually played the demo.  
 
I'm definitely buying this one.  I love me some Criterion racing.

people don't learn, still after so many fails with NFS title, you still hope this to be good game?!

Really happy with the demo. They didn't rebrand Burnout, they made a real NFS. Got the controls and weight of the cars down - and its fast without being 60 fps. 
 
Negatives: The shortcuts seem like the long way round and the rubber-banding is pretty obvious. Cars catch up quick at first, then hit the brakes with 2 miles to go.

I am highly satisfied with the demo. I just spent 2 hours competing with a friend in it. This will be an amazing game. It feels so good! The cop mode is extremely strategic and fun. Thank you Criterion for making this game right.
