Learn All About the Cities, Seas, and Frontiers of Assassin's Creed III

I just pre-ordered it! Can't wait!

The only thing I'm worried about in this game is the Naval Combat. It sounds like it's going to be a steep learning curve at first because you have to both pilot the ship and issue orders to fire on your enemies. I do enjoy a challenge though, and I hope it won't be too difficult.

Other than that, Connor looks to be an awesome anti-hero. He looks so much more deadly than Ezio was.

I am gonna assassinate all those pigs and then eat them.

I think the Templers and wanting to control the whole world fits very well with the British Empire, but you can easily see why they would be upset about it. Why non-Brits would complain is beyond me.

I'm just stoked a game has got some history in it, the more it drowns out the sci-fi angle of the series the better.

I don't understand what everyone's beef is with Connor helping the Americans. I mean, sure, I get that assassin's don't really pick a side but let's take a look at history guys. The Americans won the Revolutionary War...and I don't know about you, but I don't wanna play a game where I'm fighting for the losing side.

Did I miss an official scientific poll that armed you with such bulletproof information? Some sort of global tally of people's interests in AC3? Their claim is the hyperbole marketing, but to claim that it isn't one of the big releases for this fall is equally silly.

The blatant America pandering of this game has soured me on it. I mean, do they even mention assassins once in this video?

Looks pretty awesome, definitely a refreshing updated after Revelations.

The naval stuff and setting in general make me not want to play this game. I recently got around to playing Brotherhood and really disliked everything that didn't involve me running around the city. Blending into crowds, scaling buildings, running around rooftops, etc are all fun to me. I found the vehicle stuff, sneaking around on foot for Da Vinci missions, etc. boring and hurried through to get to the next bit. Most of what I've seen of this game looks like the outskirts of Rome and that Da Vinci stuff more than it does the parts that I liked. I don't see myself picking this up unless the marketing has mislead me.

I'm definitely waiting for the review. It makes sense that they wouldn't highlight "standard" AC play like scaling, stabbing, etc. That stuff is established, and if they put it in the promotional materials, it wouldn't look like a new game. No matter how much you like that stuff (and I understand because I do too), if you saw a trailer showing off free-running, you'd be forced to wonder what they've been spending their time on. Much like the flying machine and catapult stuff in ACB was a side-note, I expect that there will be 2, maybe 3 missions that focus on the naval stuff, solely out of historical reverence. They pretty much laid it out in that video: "We could not ignore it [but we wanted to]."

So yeah, I share your trepidation. I'm interested enough in the story to be excited, but I never got Revelations, so I'm not committed to buy anything "just because it's the next Assassin's Creed game." Good thing we have reviews :)

As long as it has barechested George Washington riding a bear and fighting a Kraken. I'm in.

I like how they bring a reenactor or historian or whatever that dude does to talk about the frontier, without mentioning that the "frontier" they made for this game wasn't actually a frontier, and the real frontier was a hundreds of miles further west.

I need to not buy this one. Revelations was such iterative garbage. But the music in the commercial is so good.

don't know what you complainers are on, but this game looks like it will let me stab dudes in the face and neck so that's pretty awesome. Plus, naval combat is dope! We need more of it in games! Like dinosaurs!

@Sweep: I really don't know. I think Ryan is into it as far as the GB crew goes. My Dad pre-ordered it after I told him about it a few weeks back. And I know that I am looking forward to it, but that is about the extent of my insight. Hopefully it is awesome, but that's mostly a selfish wish from a fan of the series.

@sixpin: I dunno... I don't get the sense that people are losing their minds with excitement or anything. Are people really that hype for this game?

It'll be so much fun once you slow down due to the snow. So much fun.

I don't know why but the more they show of this game to more I second guess my potential purchase. I mean it doesn't look bad and the setting is different but I don't know if I can handle more Assassin's Creed.

the assassin pieces of this game look awesome, but if they fuck up the desmond portion of this game. this will have a blowback on the level of mass effect 3.
