It could be an electronic cigarette. The one my mom has looks sort of like that. He mentioned he was using one of those on the Tobacco episode of the history of medicine podcast, Sawbones, which he does with his wife.

Yea that's a good possibility too. And now that I re watched the opening bit that's seems like the most likely case.

Just the way he was holding it made me instantly think of a hookah.

Hookah does give you a VERY limited purview of what being stoned is like, though. Suddenly the whole Justin McElroy world view makes a little more sense.

I will listen to this even if Justin isn't an expert and his advice should never be followed. Also, I haven't played the game, but I don't think I will, so I'll go right ahead.

Does look a bit like mine and thought I saw a whiff of the water vapor at one point. If anyone is considering trying them out, fucking excellent. You're still getting the nicotine but all the other downsides go away and it's helped me cut back a LOT -

Oh and loved the spoiler cast, great stuff. If I could be allowed one recommendation, as a personal request, don't jump cut back and forth when someone is laughing or quickly responding in a conversation. Really breaks the flow because of how quickly you're jumping.

However I guess that's maybe being done automatically by the capture? If it is can you build in like a .5 second delay to avoid the rapid cuts?

Hell, just a personal preference though and again, great work @patrickklepek :)

I managed to catch most of this yesterday while it was being recorded (thanks Google+ notifications!), I feel like a cheater.

Couldn't watch this fast enough. This is FANTASTIC! I can't push enough for more spoilercasts!! (Rev3's spoiled games is amazing as well) Like, I play videogames to completion and I'd like to know what peoples thoughts are unchained, especially when it comes to a game with a important story and that is happening more and more these days.

Good that he's using an e-cigarette. Ideally, no smoking at all would be best, but an e-cigarette is far, far, far, far healthier than tobacco cigarettes. Nicotine isn't harmless, but out of all the things in a tobacco cigarette, it is the least harmful substance (if you don't count the addiction, that is).

I actually really loved Beyond Two Souls because I got pretty immersed in it, but I would agree that the story felt really disjointed. There is definitely a lot to like though. Some of the dumb storytelling is honestly no different that a lot of what's on tv or in film these days. I feel like it's kind of forgivable, although I wish it were better. I guess that's what I'd say about Beyond, "I wish it were better."

For those asking, it's a Vamo V3 with a Mini Vivi Nova tank. I believe I was using Halo's Belgian Cocoa flavor at the time, if that knowledge in some way enhances your enjoyment of the video.

Never plan on playing this game, so yea I will watch this.

I'm kinda surprised (but not really) that the Witcher series was never brought up, as imo it's the current pinnacle of narrative choice.

Yep, it's an interesting listen because of the different personalities and thoughts flying around. Worked really well imo, better then a lot of other talks of this spoiler format do.

Second opinion: Do you care enough to have it spoiled? In the same boat; not having a PS3, doubt it'll come out on PC and probably won't buy it if it did, but the fact that Patrick wrangled some interesting folk to discuss it makes it interesting. Half-listened to this while playing some Deathspank: ToV and I thought it sounded interesting enough that I should listen to it without the distractions.

If you think the story was dumb in Heavy Rain it's NOTHING compared to Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) holy shit that story was dumb.

Beyond was worse than Heavy Rain, honestly. It felt really tame compared to the insane shit that happened in HR, but the ending was great.

Alex looks good though.

... I don't know how to frame my response to this video (similar to how I feel about the game). I love that you, Patrick, corralled the Wolf and others and put it together - difficult often, to get a cohesive, generous discussion without people in the same room. It did feel more critique than spoilercast though.

Semantic nomenclature aside, I enjoyed hearing what most of the parties had to say (I did feel that some spoke much while saying very little). Out of what was said, I tend to fall somewhere around Alex's opinion on the game, my feelings probably more favorable than his overall though.

My distaste for certain parties aside, I'm glad I listened - it refreshed my feelings on the game a bit, solidified some opinions, made me rethink others. A lot of time was devoted to ripping on David Cage, but then again, you kind of have to a little, with such auteurship at work in his projects. Would like to see more content in this vein going forward!

Hasn't "the ghost is your twin!" been a twist in quite a few prominent horror films? I know at least, and I think that was a remake of another one. I want to say it was "The Uninvited", but I'm not sure. I just remember thinking it was kind of clever at the time, which made me think it's use in Beyond was a cheap ripoff.
