Getting into games as a full-time writer practically demands the ability to do multiple things: news, reviews, features, interviews, previews, etc., and to talk about a wide variety of genres. And, honestly, few game sites are raking in the kind of money to allow a full-time salary member to specialize in something narrow. Which is why the Patreon stuff is so important to writers like Cara; it'll be interesting to see if it allows for more specialists to focus precisely on what they want to do rather than feel like they have to crank out 1,000 words of content a day.

Before you guys ask, Tina is probably paid way better at Kotaku and has more power there (I think she's directly below Totilo in terms of seniority) and Cara is doing her Kerouac thing and can't be tied down right now.

With that said, yay! All my East Coast video game dream team dreams are coming true! Tina and Cara are p great.

To be clear here, we do allow general discussion of the sort that happened in the video, within reason. But in the past some people (a small minority) have taken it as license to post in-line images and direct links to stuff, which is definitely not permitted. Just wanted to be clear up front about it; proactive rather than reactive. Not trying to throw every single community member under the bus or anything; if such a notice doesn't apply to you, then ignore it.

pretty much all fears about the GB NYC initiative are over. Next to Dan/Jeff, Vinny/Alex are one of the best video duos on the site.

Great show, it's fantastic to have so much GBEAST content being released. Cara and Tina were wonderful to have on, and I look forward to seeing other guests you bring on.

And Mario Kart for the Wii U looks super fun. Probably less so staring at a 15" screen split 4 ways though.

Pretty fun show, but the constant looking at you're phone was a bit of a bummer. It seems so disinterested. Even if thats not the case, thats what it looks like.

I really like having Cara on the site. On camera she can be very goofy and energetic, yet her writing is often much more serious and even somber at times. It's really interesting that she can flow between the two so seamlessly.

There'll always be a few people who try to use that sort of excuse to ruin it for everyone else.

But Vinny is right, don't ruin the sanctity of hentai and Giant Bomb. There are other places on the internet for those two things to come together in the way we all really want it to.

I can see why that requires moderation but somehow I feel telling people like that to act civil wont suffice. But I have no idea how to solve that problem. To be honest i've never actually seen the drama that keeps transpiring on the comments/forums so the mods must be doing something right.

So awesome! I needed another dose of Vinny and Alex! I feel like I'm now getting a lot more bang for my buck with my subscription.

@xite: She has a diluted accent that's like a weird optical illusion you just can't figure out. If you tell me where to look then I can see it, but until then I have absolutely no idea.

Well, it's tough to strike a balance, and we're working on it. We get moderation feedback that ranges from "anything anyone posts at any time on any subject should be permitted" and "you should immediately delete anything that I disagree with." We're going to claim a position somewhere between those views, of course, but it's a learning process for everyone.

But, as I said, this comment section should really be about the content of the video. Feel free to PM me if you have concerns about moderation.

@vinny: That "grainy mustard" sounds like Bavarian sweet mustard the only kind of mustard i actually like! I can eat the regular "yellow mustard" in small doses like on a McD cheeseburger, just can't stand the "spicy mustard taste" when it's too much, it's too sour.

This stuff goes great with white sausage, lye roll and wheat beer, a typical Bavarian beer garden meal :)

Mostly, I'd just love to see something like the Guns of Navarro come back. I know written content will to a certain extent always take a backseat on Giant Bomb, but I find the change of pace refreshing.

Cara mentions on the stream that she doesn't have a work visa. This pretty much rules her out as being a permanent hire. Danny (O Dwyer) has posted about his troubles getting a visa - over a year of bullshit - and that was from someone who was already employed in the foreign office of a US blue chip company. The best you could hope is for freelance contributions if that budget ever comes good.
