That was great. I think I might restart Dark Souls.

Good idea, im going to aswell! :)

Finally! The lack of Dark Souls coverage on this site was annoying. Better late than never I say. Can't wait for the next one.

I was expecting to be frustrated by trying to do the Tomb of the Giant without a light source, but Vinny found his lamp and all was well. They are pretty close to the boss. They can potentially run from the bonfire all the way to the area where Vinny got kicked off the ledge. Once they round that corner they'll arrive at the baby skeleton area. Boss is right there.

Great to see this, since Dark Souls is pretty much my favorite game in the last decade or so. Keep up the good work, Vinny.

Yeah, but baby skeletons and skeleton mages probably mean it will take a while 'till he riches the boss. Except if he just rushes through, which I bet he will be discouraged from.

Tango down in sector one alpha.

So good! The despair caused by Dark Souls is unparalleled in games.

I fucking love Dark Souls, even though Dark Souls hates me, so this is awesome! Everything that makes me return to that game is a welcomed thing. Dark Souls is awesome.

Vinny: "you're on the PC"

Rorie: "yeah the better version by far"

I really hope that was a joke Rorie.

He's pretty spot on.

@moondoggy905:

It is true though, with the DSfix applied the PC version looks and plays a lot better.

I wish they just did this every day! I mean, Brad found the time to stream Dota2.. c'mon Vinny, who cares about work and getting things done!

Everytime I see people play Dark Souls I think "MAn, this looks awesome" then I go try it and just can't get into it. I dunno what it is, I just can't enjoy the game even though it looks amazing when I watch others play it....

Posted by Moondoggy905

@tennmuerti: no he isn't, "this is a better version if you mod the crap out of it" is what he's saying, and the pc version has poor mouse and keyboard controls.

This is the kind of content that makes me renew my subscription! Great stuff :)

You can just as well play it with a controller. And even unmodded it's still the better version by having smoother frame rate. (with trivial amount of effort you can make it even better, you don't need to "mod the crap out of it" to make it look miles better, it's one mod that takes all of 5 mins or less to setup)

Unless you state exactly why the console version is the better one kindly shush.

Uh... why?

DSFix means you can play at 1080p and at 60FPS, with features such as SSAO amongst others. Surely that is the better version?

And that's just through ONE mod. And it's not even a mod - you just copy a text file into one directory. Done. Problem solved.

Yep, that bone guy is a real piece of shit.

that coujd not have ended any better! Can't wait for part 2.

@ltsquigs: I'd say that the higher deflection of a greatshield is pretty useful for those skeletons tho.

Oh hey and since I'm replying, I really appreciated your presence in this video. Please keep guiding Vinny forward as you have, letting him make mistakes yet not so much ones that would set him back too far.

YES! I will buy nineteen premium accounts if you guys keep this up. Need more Dark Souls.

Thank you so much for this!

I loved the multiple Dark Souls quick looks back when it came out. I'm not very far in this myself but watching people play this game is the best! I think Ian should always help Vinny get to the next bonfire or how to get to the next area he should be going to since those are my two biggest frustrations.

Posted by Parsnip

Coincidentally I just reinstalled Dark Souls.

Posted by Fram

What an ending!! This is gonna make me try Dark Souls again for sure.

Posted by Kushteh

I am ALL THE WAY into this.

Vinny's reaction to the skeletal pillars is fantastic

Great feature, I look forward to seeing more Dark Souls with this crew.

Between this and the podcast I am getting so much of my daily Rorie. I love it! Ian is awesome too!

I've become a member because of this. Lets see Vinny's approach to Dark Souls! :D

Man, this was depressing. I recently put in 20 hours in DS, felt real proud of myself after beating the Gaping Dragon, and then I watch Vinny running through an area I didn't even know existed at an insanely high level still getting his ass handed to him. I will never complete this game, but I sure hope this feature keeps going. I must live vicariously through Vinny!

The great thing about DS is that secret areas are actually secret, not obvious (I haven't watched this yet, so not sure if Vinny actually entered a secret area or not). What makes DS so special is imo the community aspect of it, getting in on the ground floor, when people didn't understand shit about the game, was amazing. Fez was similar, actually.

It is the part I don't like honestly. I haven't finished Dark Souls yet, but I don't want to do it with FAQs. I have no idea what poise is, what all the benefits of humanity are, what the difference is between big and medium shields and so forth. And I probably never will, because that is something you cannot know unless you look up a FAQ. That information is not in the game itself, at least it's not complete.

The discovery process is a huge part of the Souls games. I played Demons with a FAQ and Dark without when it came out fresh, and it's a whole world of difference and enjoyment of finding out shit and discovering everything by yourself.

That said. Most of that information you can find out by just playing the game, it just takes longer. Like the shields you mentioned. All you really need is to try out a few medium shields and a few heavy ones to make it pretty apparent that they have different actions upon pressing pressing the attack button. It's as simple as that. All that information in the FAQs had to come from somewhere, it came from people finding it out withing the game just like any player can over time. You can figure out poise by yourself and humanity by yourself by just paying a bit more attention to the stats and their ingame effects.

You should have seen it blow up at the end when the skeleton kicks him, fucking hilarious.
