Oh my, that looks yummy. I've got to start playing this.

Posted by BoringK

Isengard? I hear they're taking the hobbits there.

Posted by CaLe

I'm glad it's an MMO cuz it looks boring as hell.

They are only in the second movie?

Posted by darkjester74

So there are pew pew lasers in Middle Earth now? =\

Wait...Sauraman has a dragon?

I'd like to see this game thrive. I love LoTR... the book, the movie, most of the games. But my latest obsession is EVE Online. I don't even know if I'll have time for BF3! :O

I know barely anything about LotR. Except the fact that the hobbits, at some point, are (or are attempted to be) taken to Isengard.

Don't think it works like that.

I really wish I could love this MMO. It seems really cool, but the animations and models kill it for me.

I remember long time ago they said the game is based on the Fellowship of the Ring and the game will continue along the plot of the books.

I love this game, one of the best games ever <3
Still enjoying Loth Lorien and Mirkwood right now, this game is grand!

Posted by steevl

I stopped playing it a long time ago, but it was the only non-WoW MMO that had me hooked enough to subscribe to it...back when they had a subscription plan, anyway.

Posted by jaycrockett

It will be a long time before I make it to Isengard, but the other changes in this update have been positive so far.

I dont like the 80's Filmation Sounds

Posted by Grondoth

I don't think whoever did the sounds in that likes the Runekeeper. It's okay, sound guy; loremasters and minstrels hate them too.

I'm curious about the new expansion; environmental art and design are real strong points of Lotro. Say what you want about questing in Moria, that place is amazing and one of the few bits of world I've ever seen in an MMO that blew me away. The changes seem fun too, especially to the KoA traits for loremasters and the overhaul to minstrels. Poor guards, though.

As long as I get to take hobbits with me, then I'm in.

Posted by amir90

I really, REALLY wanted to like LOTRO, but I couldn't

DAMN it :(

"They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!"

Sounds like George Takei.

I was about to say fuck you, but then I realized my comment was going to be word-for-word the same as yours. So fuck you.

Every time I watch a thing for this game, I wanna get back into it. Too bad it's such an MMO, 'cause I really like what they did with the setting.

No kidding, my main is a Guard and I got nothing out of this expansion.

This game might be awesome now if I hadn't spent the last two days trying to get it work (along with countless other folks on various forums. eff you error 201). :/ I gave up. Was kinda fun back in '08.

One of my favorite MMOs around ;3

They still have a subscription plan, actually, and I'd argue it's still the best way to experience the game. Free-to-Play is fine if you don't mind the enormous extra grind it requires -- play a horde of alts on multiple servers and you can save up enough Turbine Points to unlock pretty much everything for your main without paying a cent. Maybe that's preferable to just paying a monthly fee...? Some people seem to think so. I have a lifetime account, so it's not something I've had to seriously consider.

EVE Online and LotRO have been my MMOs of choice for the last several years. First started EVE when the Exodus expansion was dropping (roughly '04-ish?), but had to stop playing a year or so ago due to finances. Someday I'd like to get back into it. LotRO I picked up the year of its release ('07) and have been actively playing since, though I'm on a bit of a hiatus right now due to my computer being a smoldering ruin in need of replacement parts.

LotRO is kind of an unsung gem of a game, in my opinion. Maybe I'm just backward, but I tried WoW and LotRO around the same time, and LotRO is the one that stuck with me. It doesn't get a lot of press despite being a very solid game with a lot of good, original ideas -- many of which have since been adopted by other MMOs.

@EchoEcho:

Oh, cool, didn't realize they still had the subscription plan. I wouldn't mind trying the game out again. I think I even have an unused code for one of the first expansions. But in the end, it all comes down to time, and I don't really have any of that for an MMO at the moment. :(

I'm tempted to go back to this game

Stopped sometime the start of Volume III, I liked the story that they had

Posted by Mechanized

I kinda realized I don't care about mmos at all anymore. Once I get diablo 3 I'll be good for another 10 years.

Downloaded this today. Plan on visiting it after my exams this week. :)

Can anyone explain to me why the animation and character interactions in MMOs always have to look so goddamned janky? I know they have to keep system requirements relatively low, but I wouldn't think some transitional and hit animations would be all that computationally expensive. It's 2011, and I'm pretty sure Mario 64 had a better model animation system.

Posted by MeatSim

Yup I am over fantasy MMO's this doesn't excite me at all.
