Low Light Combat is the Kind of Fast Shooter They Don't Make Anymore

A ridiculous new ninja-and-nukes shooter from Wolfire Games, the creators of Receiver.

Looks interesting

That completely sounds like a game that would be created with such a small, and insane, time and mindset, lol. Looks fun, but I wonder if it would actually be worth developing into a full game, or would it lose it's glamour at that point?

Damn that's really really cool, still when is overgrowth done, that game has been in development for like 5 years, I remember I translated some press release for them and posted around some romanian websites.

That looks...not very fun. I went into this based on the description of a "fast shooter they don't make anymore", thinking it would be like Quake. Oh, well.

Edited by stealthdf2

replace "low light" with "Rage inducing seizure sim.." and your headline fits the video much better

I love Wolfire Games's Overgrowth Alpha videos.

looks dang cool, i hope they keep developing it into a full-ass game

What, I can donate to the Blender Foundation and get a free game?

Freaking awesome.

These are the same guys that made two games about ninja rabbits.

This looks interesting and unique. Good job!

sounds cool but I wouldnt call it a fast shooter.

Edited by FiestaUnicorn

This doesn't look like a fast paced shooter.

Posted by FrostedMiniWheats

Geez, really? This doesn't look like a fast shooter? You only live for 60 seconds, and that time ticks down by 25% the every time you shoot. And drains when you run. So if you do nothing you can have 60 seconds to live, and if you're actually trying to kill people then significantly less. How much faster can a shooter reasonably get?

I think it has allot to do with the guy going really slowly to explain everything. I'm sure if you tried to win this, it would go Unreal style.

Pretty cool idea. I especially like the factor that you are basically always dying and to stay alive you need kills. Hopefully, that makes camping too difficult to be effective.

Is it just me or does he have a robot voice?

Wow, fuck that headline.

this looks and sounds.....retarded.

Nuclear powered cyber ninjas who fight proxy battles for the Illuminati? So basically it's Metal Gear?

Edited by codynewill

This looks pretty neat. $5 isn't too much to ask as long as there are people playing it.

Those nuclear powered beam shotguns don't seem efficient at all.

Could you maybe not hotlink 30mb+ of animated GIFs here? Jeeze, the actual video itself probably has a smaller filesize than your GIFs.

Yeah, I'm not sure anyone has ever made a shooter like this. It's not anything like the fast shooters of the past, but I can definitely see how it might remind people of those. It's not really my thing--I prefer slower-paced stealth action. It's good to see games like this come out, though--the FPS genre is in dire need of some stretching, and this definitely pushes boundaries.

@assinass: Please learn how to use animated gifs properly. Thanks on behalf of everyone.

Edited by GreggD

@dvorak: I really don't see how he used them improperly.

@haggis: well there was no life-timer or one hit kill aspect, but the original Unreal came with a multiplayer mode where there were no lights, and you had a light that had a limited time before it ran out, and you could get battery life from the fallen players AND you could play dead so that people would walk past you and you could ambush them as they tried to get your battery or gun.

@greggd: Perhaps it was because he linked very large .gif files (several megabytes each) so that users' browsers would automatically load them, possibly causing problems. BlazeHedgehog mentioned something similar. I mean, my machine handles AC Brotherhood and ME3 fine, but it started lagging just trying to scroll past those GIFs.
