Sliiimes.

Finally, some damn media on this. I'm afraid this will suffer the same fate as Rayman, even with Mario's face on it.

Nintendo better not do this to Rhythm Heaven. (The real final Wii game.)

Nintendo is really showing confidence in this product with the level of production that went into that video.

I'm just going to nod my head and pretend that insane japanese monopoly starring mario and dragon quest characters is exactly what the Wii needs this late in its life cycle.

Alright... if this at least somewhat accurately teach the value of money and how fiscal responsibility works it could be cool.

I'm not holding out hope though... I assume it'll just be a Monopoly-style game.

Let me know if this game sells more than a thousand copies in the US, alright?

This looks like Mario Party, but worse. And that's really, really saying something.

I never played any Itadaki Street games, but I'm pretty sure they're more like Monopoly than Mario Party.

IMO, that's a bad thing.

Genuinely curious about this, especially since I never expect the series to break outside of Japan. Frankly, I'm surprised that Nintendo is charging a full $50 for this since, like a lot of other people are saying, I kind of doubt it'll do gangbusters here, but at least NOA is willing to experiment a little with releases like this, contrary to what proponents of Operation Rainfall might argue.

About time Itadaki Street gets to the US, IMO. And no, it's not a Mario game, it's more of a Dragon's Quest game (it was actually designed by one of the DQ guys back when the SNES was one of the latest consoles)

To those that haven't played it, it's similar in spirit to Monopoly, only instead of bankrupting everyone else, you just need to obtain a certain amount of money and get back to the bank square. You get promotions (which in turn raises your income, IIRC - been a while since I played this game) for passing over 4 specific squares and then returning to the bank square.

Thanks a lot Nintendo. Between Xenoblade (already translated by NOE, mind you) or this, you'd have to be a complete ass to pick this. Which Reggie is -- all he cares about is not whether a game is good or not, but whether or not it's marketable. This says, "Mario" on it, has "Dragon Quest" characters and has been compared to "Monopoly" -- all marketable brands, so of course it gets the greenlight for release. Garbage like Wii Play Motion also gets the instant approval from Reggie, while games like Fatal Frame and Mother 3 are quickly brushed aside.

Fucking get fired already Fils-Aime.

Oh man, die at retail Fortune Street. As much as I'd like the Dragon Quest brand and characters to get more recognition here in the west, I'd rather people show NOA that just because Mario's on it doesn't automatically give them a "win". Those guys up at Redmond have become incredibly obnoxious and lazy these days, banking on fanboy loyalty time and time again over things like advertising. Or being good at their jobs.

Not to mention, the time to release this on Wii was...what? 2007? If they were serious about "experimenting" (I'm talking to you, Pepsiman) and releasing this in the west and giving it a genuine chance, they would've held off and made a Wii U version. Playing a video/board game where one player has a tablet and the other players are using the television seems like there are some genuine opportunities for fun, new ideas. And new hardware means they could've had an excited audience hungry to lap up the first few waves of quality games, thus ensuring some retail success. So....way to not do that, Nintendo!

Bowser is clearly a housing market genius. I mean, between every game, he seemingly buys up ALL LAND IN THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM and populates it with goombas, koopas, bob-ombs and whatnot. That's a lot of residents buying houses on his land. In fact, I'd argue that right before the beginning of every Mario game, he merely is trying to purchase the property that Peach's castle stands on. Then, when discussions fall through (because what do mushroom people or women know about business*?), he loses his cool and...well, does things he's going to regret when Mario comes a knocking. But of course he'd be frustrated - every other property in the kingdom seemed so easy to obtain!

* - just kidding ladies;)

Yea, fuck Nintendo. When are they gonna stop making all these Mario and Zelda games and make some real classics that gamers love? Where are the quality games? (If you couldn't tell, I'm being sarcastic. What's wrong with making the same thing over and over again if that thing is good?)

It's hard to respect it when it's clearly not a "Mario" type game (simple, intuitive, absolutely no math) yet uses the Mario characters just to be more marketable.

Also, the Mario Party boards always had locations that tied into the board mechanics... these boards are just squares hovering in space above some random background...
