I especially love the part where the first woman (Gabrielle Shrager) sounds like she speaks English as her first language without any sort of French accent, yet the subtitles see fit to grossly rearrange the phrasing of everything she says.

Yeah this game is absolutely fantastic.

Side note, I though "hella" was just a NorCal thing but I guess it has made its way to France as well. Who knew?

I think we need to stop blaming Call of Duty for all gaming woes. I was just as disappointed in MW3 as a lot of other people and it was upsetting as a fan of the series that I wouldn't get to play a new COD until maybe Nov when Treyarch pushes out their game. I do not believe that Call Of Duty is in any way to blame for the lack of sales of Rayman and didn't say so. I simply find it sad that there isn't enough room in the wider public's taste for a broader spectrum of gaming styles.

I expressed a disappointment with the lack of what I perceive as inspiration or soul in the last 2 COD games with my off hand comment. Which is my opinion about that series not anger at it damaging the sales of other games.

No one game series is responsible for causing some kind of offensive sales attack on other games. The lack of diversity within the tastes of the wider gaming public is to blame for that.

Just a friendly reminder, this game is still just $19.99 at Toys R Us through this week.

It's funny how people will say "you should buy Rayman Origins so Michel Ancel can create Beyond Good & Evil 2" when they should be saying "you should buy Rayman Origins because it's awesome."

I feel bad for not buying it because it is not downloadable. Just something about this recent trend of 2D platformers only being on digital stores has made me not want to waste space with a physical disc in my already cluttered room! Maybe when it is cheaper and I have nothing to play!

Watching this makes me feel bad that I haven't picked it up yet. I need to rectify that.

60 bucks is a fair price for this game. The content is solid and numerous. Just because it is a platforner and 2D it should be cheaper? My mind hurts.

Really bummed out the Vita version wont have multiplayeR, though the chances of me meeting another person with a Vita and a copy of Origins are probably slim to none in the first place.

2D platformers just aren't the big thing they once were, plus this was sent to die slap bang in the middle of Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare 3. It's a real damn shame, Rayman Origins is so full of personality, so well designed, so much gleeful shrieking fun. If you have ever played a platformer and liked it, you should already own it. Hell, if you're here reading this and you don't own it yet, there's something wrong with you.

And to everyone asking about music, it's "obtainable". If they sold it I'd have bought it, but they don't so I didn't. Well worth seeking out though, it's utterly fantastic.

Oh and I cannot stress enough how brilliant this game is. Honestly, its easily the best platformer I've played in the last ten years.

For those complaining about the game not selling, it did made it to the top 9 on this week's UK sales charts. VGChartz has it at a million copies. I'm pretty sure that if that's right the game has made its money back...

I love this game so much and it's nice to see the people who made it love it as much as I do.

I'm not putting it off for the sake of getting a discount I'm putting it off purely because I already have too many unplayed games sitting around collecting dust. I really look forward to the day I get around to buying and playing this game - I'm sure I'll love it.

Unfortunately for the developers the timing of this release was about as bad as anything I can remember and I will never consider it my responsibility as an entertainment consumer to run out and buy something to make up for a mistake made by a company.

(The fact that people even try to put blame on the customers for not buying it blows my mind)

It was weird to me what a turn people took against Rayman on the Game of the Year deliberations. No one seemed to really LIKE it, they just liked the fact that it EXISTED, it seemed. Glad it made the list, though.

@Superfriend: I don't see how it is greedy to change the business model. If they would've gone for an episodic model I am sure you would only have gotten a fraction of the game that we have now, and all the episodes together probably wouldn't have been much cheaper. Episodic games have not been very succesful besides maybe telltale adventure games, so it makes sense not to go with that model.

I just look at the game as is, and it's one of the best controlling platformers ever made, it's absolutely stunning to look at and it has a lot of content. That's why I think $20 for the entire game at release would've been an insult to the makers. This game is by no means comparable to an xbla game.

I bought the game and I love it. It's a great game to play with friends, and my girlfriend and I are on the last world right now. Ubisoft put this game up against a lot of big hitters in a month that was packed to the seams with well-established and seemingly-more-relevant games (Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Call of Duty 291, Saints Row 3, etc) so of course it was going to flop based on sales. And the price-point wasn't smart either. When people see 2D games they aren't as willing to plop down $60 unfortunately. Rayman: Origins is a deep and fun game that is accessible to anyone and still presents a lot of challenge. Its pure fun and I can't give it enough praise, personally.

Agreed, saying this game is only worth $20 is an insult to the quality of the game, and the amount of content in there. I personally think this game is worth even $60, but I agree that public perception is such that a non mario 2d platformer shouldn't be more expensive than $40 if you want it to sell.

The public perception was that this thing was an episodic downloadable game. Because it started as a downloadable and they later decided to milk full price out of it. Okay, they added stuff, but they did next to nothing to change the public perception of the game. So yeah, I would have put this thing out as a 20 dollar download and maybe released some of the content as DLC. You know, as it was originally planned?

It´s a pretty cool game. I played it on Wii, but I would have never ever payed 60 dollars/euros for it. Because it was never a full price product. Good thing it got cheap pretty quickly. I bet the creators would tell you the same thing. Ubisoft as a publisher was probably the only party involved who wanted the higher price point. Because they are greedy motherfuckers.

I could probably write an entire review about how this game is one of the best 2D platformer ever made... but I'm just gonna say one thing : It is a re-imagining of the first Rayman (and the only TRUE Rayman, according to the developers, if you watched the video) and in case you don't know, the first Rayman IS one of the best 2D platformer ever made.

If you like Rayman: Origins, buy Rayman. If you liked Rayman, buy Rayman: Origins. If you like video games, buy both these games, they are incredible.

Why shouldn't this be a 60 dollar game? It's obviously a serious production, which shows when you play it. I've logged 25 hours and I don't think I'm done yet.

While I love getting a bargain on a game (and i got this for 20 at Toys R Us), i think it's flawed to say this game should have been a discount title. It's a very good, incredibly fun, and surprisingly deep game.

The big mistake was the timing of the release. Should have been dropping now when there is nothing happening. Instead i'm sure they shoved it out the door because a financial quarter was ending, and instead killed any chance this game had of being a success.

Watching this reminds me of how much I loved this game.

I think the 'sexyness' comes from the mysterious factor of not understanding what they are saying.

@BasketSnake: It's $20 at Toysrus now....and in my opinion it is well worth a $60 price tag. Especially if you have friends to play co-op...frantic fun hilarious chaos are the words that come to mind....

Paid full price for it the day it came out, and happy to do so, I love this game and enjoyed playing it immensely with my 5 year old (who has become surprisingly good at platformers... is this what my parents thought with me on my NES??). Neat to see the behind-the-scenes, and glad I could fully support an effort like this game. My dollars say MAKE MOAR LIKE DIS

Its a pity Ubisoft never knew what it had. If the game was released for 40 $ and/or was not released on the same week as Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Saints Row, Skyward Swords, Need for Speed, Super Mario 3D, Marvel vs Capcom 3 and their very own Assassins Creed; I am pretty sure it would have made a lot better.

Not to diss on any of those games, but to expect Rayman Origins could stand (sales-wise) against any of them with its minuscule marketing budget and relatively poor brand recognition was naive at best... Hopefully the game will do well in a late push at a discounted price and a slow month.

God I wished they did a push pre-release. Even if only this trailer before hand. It's nice to see them not completely throwing the game away and trying to support it but it's been marked down considerably everywhere at this point and it's a shame because I played this game to completion and loved every minute of it.

I know they probably blew their marketing budget already but considering how slow January is I hope this is another marketing push for this game. I think it'd get some attention if they advertised it now.

@Suits: I agree about the release date being an issue. My point was that I'm tired of everyone pulling out the Modern Warfare punching bag when shit goes wrong. You can just as well say "well fucking Skyrim ruined Rayman for everyone those hacks at Bethesda are assholes" I can't comprehend release dates actually. It's ridiculous that for 2-3 months you can't keep up with all the new releases then you have a solid 2-3 months of literally nothing.

It's a great game, and you can buy it new for only $30 if you look around. So worth the purchase.

@Humanity: The release date of this game was so poorly chosen. Games with huge advertising campaign like MW3 certainly have an effect on the awareness of people that this title even came out. Sure it has a different market, but if you're going to put it in the same month as: Sonic Generations, Uncharted 3, LA Noire, Skyrim, Super Mario 3D Land, AC:Revelations, Saints Row 3, Skyward Sword, you're not going to get much out of it. Today had been a way better moment, but they obviously haven't learned from BG&E. Also no PC release, derp. No surprise there though, since it's Ubisoft.

@metal_mad: This video was in English and French. I assume GiantBomb took this off a DVD (judging by the font and size of the subtitles), and it was just all on/all off. Or... something to those ends, anyway.
