Nearly picked up the HD Collection a while ago (for Peace Walker) but luckily I heard about this in time.

It's not. They'd have to port over MGS1(PS1 version, which Sony owns the rights to) and port over MGS4(which would take years since it's tailored to the PS3 architecture)

Just buy a PS3 already. Who the hell hasn't at this point? The 360 stopped having worthwhile exclusives years ago.

Building that hype for MGSV! As a person who has only ever played MGS4, dabbled in MGS1 and watched playthroughs of MGS1, 2 and 3. I am pretty hype!

i love mgs so much that i would blindly buy this even though i already own the HD Collection and all games seperately and have beat MGS2 about 100 times, god what is wrong with me

We have given you so many chances to play these games, just PLAY THE GAME.

I'll wait until they remake MGS1 with at least MGS2 level graphics. (Probably as much chance in that as FF7 being remade.) In the meantime, the PS1 version will do fine.

Huh. Amazon has it at 50 bucks. That makes everything MGS related on PSN completely irrelevant.

Very happy about this, glad to see MGS1 in this collection, I thought they game couldn't be re-done due to some of the PS1 specific stuff( Physomantis figth etc.)

What. Sony doesn't own the rights to the PS1 version of MGS1, if they did a PC version wouldn't exist.

It's easy to forget how much good stuff has been in those games over the years.

I might just have to pick that up if it isn't outrageously expensive.

I already have most of those, but it's nice to have them all in one place instead of spread over 3 systems.

Also having access to MG and MG2 right there on the disc is nice.

I think Kojima said a lot of the disc space was because of the Mission Briefing scenes that played before each act. They were primarily the cause for having to install data at the start/end of each act as well before an update was released that allowed a full installation option from the main menu.

They've said it's too big for 360.

If only I'd bought the HD Collection for the 360....then I'd easily buy this.

I love mgs... but how many collections do we need already? I'll wait for a 1 remake ,2,3,4,5... geesh, it never ends.

They would have to change assets in the game and either edit or cut dialogue specifically relating to the Playstation in a 4th wall breaking manner for MGS4 to be on the 360.

Glad I skipped the HD collection, and with the MSX games, I can ALMOST retire my well-worn disc of Subsistence. Secret Theater wasn't in the HD version sadly.

Would Nintendo not let them use The Twin Snakes version of MGS1? Seems like a no-brainer to use that version. This also seems like it would have been the perfect opportunity for that new MGS1 remake they were talking about this week.

I've just got a PS3 and I was excited about this, but it's not coming out in Europe. :( So I just bought all the mgs games. I don't know why I didn't buy a PS3 before, considering how much I like MGS. Super excited to play 4.

I dunno. I played Halo 4 a lot more than I'd play some crusty old MGS collection where one game is an uprezzed portable game, two uprezzed PS2 games, and a DL token for a non-uprezzed PSX game. Thanks anyway. Even then a disturbingly high proportion of those of those PS3 exclusives have been rather questionable or niche stuff like 3D.Gameheroes, Mod Nation Racers, LBP Karting, Sorcery, Move Heroes, Ratchet and Clank All 4 One, etc. Now don't get me wrong, I think the Uncharted games are clearly worth it. Killzone 2 had some problems but it was interesting. Killlzone 3 and the last two Resistance games are pretty debatable though. I ablsolutely hated Heavy Rain. Last of Us is well reviewed but I haven't played my copy yet. Overall I think the PS3 exclusives have been pretty consistently overrated by PS fans. Some gems in there but for the most part this gen has been ruled by decisively third party multi-plats.

Twin Snakes was a remake of MGS 1 of the Gamecube that supposedly went too far and made the cut-scenes too silly mostly because of a scene where snake jumps off of a missile in flight, despite the fact that the original already had plenty of other nonsense like a cyborg holding up the foot of a giant robot. Twin Snakes also added aspects of the control scheme from MGS 2 which some felt spoiled how the game played letting you beat certain areas too easily.

Gotta say, the music gets me every time.

Any word on the pricing? If this was 50 or 60 bucks I might pick it up, having only played the fourth game

It's funny that they're still using the Michael Biehn artwork for the old games, you would think they would've ditched that by now.
