@mormonwarrior: I'm not a big fan of the 360 interface, but I have to disagree with ps3 interface being more snappy. For just launching games yes it it, but it takes me a good minute to get into the psn store and navigating that store is super choppy and unresponsive. After spending a lot more time on the ps3 recently, I appreciate the 360 interface a lot more. Going forward the most important thing for me would be accessing the online stores as easily as I can access steam on my PC. I don't plan to buy many physical discs so I hope both stores are vastly improve and way easier to navigate and can promote deals and new releases way better.

Is there a similar video for the ps4 interface? I remember there was like a 3 minute trailer that was heavily edited but nothing like this one.

I know for a fact that a lot of the features on the Xbox One OS that are not finalized, but from what I heard its really cool and will probably eventually be very snappy at worse after a few patches.

I know the TV stuff doesn't interest people here, but as someone who does watch a lot of Sports on TV this could be super meanigful for me (assuming the snap stuff which they didn't show works well).

If only they showed this the first time they talked about the OS layer of the Xbox things might have not seemed so dire a few months ago.

The one thing they haven't shown on the dashboard yet are ads. You know they're going to be there, Microsoft makes way too much money off of them not to.

hes most likely referring to the rumored UI mess that's been going around about the X1. For the record that rumor have both been confirmed and debunked already. (It was mess up about 1-2 months ago when the leaker saw it and have recently been fixed, what we see here.)

Assuming it actually works that fluidly that's pretty awesome. Really looking forward to digging into all that stuff. I can't see Sony's interface being better at all. Here's hoping it's on par so we get some great competition this gen.

While I know this was a "In a perfect world" demo, it was entirely unrealistic.

Where were the annoying ass popup notifications that tell you someone just logged on, and then logs right back off, while they were trying to watch TV or navigate the Guide? Because you know that's when they'll show up.

Also, there's no way in hell they're going to drop their advertising partners for the home screen. My biggest complaint on the 360 is that each section, Games, movies, music, each have 1 thing that I want from them and the rest of the tiles are adverts. I just don't believe that M$ is going to say no to that money this time around.

@giyn: I don't have the link to hand but it says on the Xbox one website somewhere that its continuinly recording 5 minutes of gameplay. Not a lot for long lets play videos but fine for clips. Whose got a memory of more than 5mins these days anyway!

Me though, I properly hate that windows 8 look, so I'm never going to touch this console. It's hard to put into words how much I hate it... I dunno, even looking at it makes me feel like someone is making me eat dog shit. Yup, that'll do it.

Still no recent snap footage, guess the rumours of it crashing while gaming are true.

I feel like the setup time for all of this busy content collection idea (username/password log-ins, cable provider activation, e-mail, authentication, Kinect tuning) is going to be insane.

A lot of neat ideas here that might be a few years too late, especially with this continued boasting of "watching TV". Honestly, the only thing I was really impressed with was the Skype camera follow tech, which they admit isn't even really because of the Kinect tech itself, but software based instead.

@jarowdowsky: Can you explain to me why you hate it so much? It seems so clean and responsive I just don't understand what's bad about it. As somebody that's getting the PS4 on launch over the Xbone I can only hope that the PS4's UI is half as good as this.

Whether you are interested in the Xbox or not, you're an absolute imbecile if you dare to deny that this is groundbreaking tech. Should it work like the video makes it out to work, that's going to sell into a lot of homes.

probably will not bother getting xbox one for long time as most of its features will never work in UK and other half of features either come in late or in some half arse version unfortunately Microsoft and Nintendo hate UK . but at same time im not looking for all in one box got that all ready called PC.

what im looking for something to play games on which is easy and fun. i probly end up with ps4 not because its greatest (which hate very core of the word and how its abused) but because it suits what i need.

personally been sick of the fanboy crap since before 360 and ps3 console were out its complete nonsense of highest level. and just because Patrick says something bad about one of console doesn't mean he is siding with one side over the other.

This info has been out there for a while, it can grab the last 5 mins of footage for you. More would always be better but I think for what this is best used for (capturing a 'special moment') it's still great, I can't think of anything that lasted more than 5mins in any of these situations I've had where something crazy happened in GTA or I got stuck in a wall or whatever. 15mins just seems boring? And not long enough to be a full let's play kinda substitute right? If it's fast and snappy as they are wanting it to be I think I'd actually use this to show my friends clips of just fun stuff in games we all love to see when we are playing in the same room, but often are not together and miss :)

Actually I like most of what they have shown.

However, how is this TV stuff going to work in regions where they don't use set-top-boxes? Considering the Xbox One doesn't have an antennae in, only HDMI in, I suppose you need something like:

antennae > digital receiver > xbox one > TV/Monitor

For example, I got rid of the digital receivers 5 years ago, when my cable provider started supporting CI+ modules, where you slide the access card right into the TV (means only one remote, and another power draining box below the TV gone), I was so happy at that day, I threw out all three receiver boxes and got the modules for the TVs.

Now the only way I think the Xbox One TV might work is if I go back to set-top-box digital receivers and I think that is a step backwards, or is there any other solution?

I kept expecting them to show the snap feature at some point. Especially during that Skype call.

Okay, I know this is all rigged and set to the most optimal conditions and all that stuff. Still, That was pretty cool. If this works in real life as it is demode, navigating the Xbox One will be a breeze.

My problem with the 360's dashboard has never really been the fact that it's incredibly disorganized. It's the ever-present ads and the turtle-like speed. It looks like they have gotten rid of both of those things, if this video holds true, and that's a really good thing.

(They haven't gotten rid of ads, I'll bet).
