Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Is Coming October 7

Great voice acting, and very nice face animations. Who knows, this might turn out to be a good LOTR game.

@dragonninja789: Why not just wait for Alex to review this? It's a new licensed game from a studio with a middling track record - that doesn't inspire much confidence in me.

*blech* I played this about 6 times before when the title started with "God of War". Doesn't look like my Middle Earth. We'll see how it turns out, but this doesn't make me more excited for the release.

Gameplay video, game looks really fun. Assassin's creed vibes with some new elements ... and LOTR is LOTR so its a must have for me. Really looking forward to the PC version.

@humanity: Well, when they first announced this game, they did a 10 minute walk through of multiple scenarios and explained all of the fundamental game mechanics, which seem really cool.

I'm intrigued... I actually kind of dug that trailer. I hope the combat is decent.

I really hope this game is awesome.

Not because I care at all about LOTR (I've always been more into The Hobbit books myself) but because I really want Monolith to make a great game again.

I need it.

Nothing about this seems compelling.

I know so little about the universe that I can't really comment on any of that. It does look interesting though; if that nemesis thing they keep talking about works even half as well as I hope, it could be a blast to play.

I'm no huge Tolkien nut but this doesn't quite seem to fit the tone of LOTR. That said I really get a kick out of the vibe it's putting off. Reminds me of Gladiator with a hint of Ghost Dad

The main characters face looks a bit rough around the edges. Hopefully the gameplay will be good.

That broken sword at the start was nice and shiny oooooooh. I'm pretty pumped for this game, the story elements look a bit rote, but if they do it well it could still be great. The gameplay is where I'm most interested, hunting down the big baddies that remember you and change their roles based on your last interaction is a really awesome idea that I hope they pull off well. Plus I'm a sucker for the LOTR setting.

This is the sequel to Garshasp, right?

I guess Warner Brothers decided that one Assassin's Creed game per year wasn't good enough, so they needed to make their own.

I don't know why but I'm completely buying the cheese they are offering. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Lord of the Rings.

@humanity: What makes you think it's CG? I think that looks completely believable for PS4/XBOne/PC. Game seems interesting too, although the story comes off a bit hokey.

I suppose I meant "cutscene" and just wrote CG instead which is my bad.

I certainly hope this game turns out great, as only the worst of people wouldn't want every game that comes out to be awesome, but I thought it was funny that they're asking for pre-orders on a game that has barely seen any sort of coverage.

Yeah, the assets are very clearly in-game (and not even that great, that Triple H hair). The animation is really impressive.

@humanity: I'm almost 100% sure that that was in-game footage....unless CG has gotten worse over the years. It hasn't.

Soul Reaver 3, you all knew it was going to happen eventually.

I'm surprised that they've yet to advertise their unorthodox gameplay concepts, which are by far the most interesting aspects of this game. A persistant, evolving world where your enemies live their lives, eating, sleeping, scheming and stabbing each other in the back for advancement.

Dynamic enemies that will respond differently depending on how you dealt with them beforehand. Throw a fucker into a fire, he might return burned and scarred. Feed one orc's lietuenant to a troll, his bodyguard, now risen to chiefs in their own right, might panic and flee if you release a troll in their midst.

And then there's the entire concept of turning enemies into spies for your own cause with GHOST POWERS so that you can do all that scheming and backstabbing, your own self.

They've got some really great ideas. If they manage to deliver on them, we'll finally have a game where you can play as Raziel and Varys at the same time.

@humanity: I hear that the combat is very reminiscent of the Arkham games, but with blood, where-as the climbing portions are very AC-esque. Talked with a fella' who got to play a version of the game and he was very impressed. Also, I'm pretty sure that's all in-game.

@slax: I think the ideas that he keeps coming back after he dies each time.
