Modern Warfare 3 Expands Spec Ops Into New Survival Mode

Aerial bombardments, chemical strikes, dogs with bombs strapped to their chests? That's easy. But the Juggernaut? He's the toughie.

Lol the UI programmers at Infinity ward must have the most boring job ever... it's the same as in MW1... what have they been doing for the past 4 years?

This & Spec Ops might be the only reasons for me to considering getting MW3. Maybe the predictably short & ridiculous campaign too.

Same. No interest in competitive multiplayer but, being a sucker for all things coop and especially survival modes, that mixed with the shooting mechanics of the COD series seems like it could well be a blast. That and I'm interested in seeing what direction the SP story takes now that IW has gone through what must be drastic internal changes.

This looks definitely lower frame rate than the same video I saw from another site. What's wrong with the HTML5 player GB?

I'm probably the only one complaining, but, it seems like the game is way too smooth or the animations are too bad for 60fps? It's like one of those new HDTV's with the refresh rate setting cranked. Looks like a circus.

Remember guys, Black Ops is based off an upgraded IW 3.0 engine (CoD 4) whereas MW3 is based of a new IW 5.0 engine. Better textures, lighting, effects, and still smooth. Plus, no vehicles. I will be buying both games as always but I can see myself getting tired of vehicle whoring just like I did in WaW and in BFBC:2.
and it still looks incredibly dated
Well, one reason are the 60fps. I think it still looks pretty good.

I totally agree with him, what the fuck is wrong with people, and how is this in any way acceptable!? people thinks it's cool and shit because it's in their favorite game, is that what you're marketing to!? sociopa...oh wait, I forgot about the online gamechat. that's fucked up though, they should remove it from the game entirely, because I'd accept it if it depicted the horrors of it, not when it's a fucking perk or a weapon or whatever

I assume you were ok with the Nuke? Or is this something that people are going to use to justify their hate for the series? The mutliplayer aspect has never and will never be meant to properly show the horror of war. Get off your high horse and dislike the game for proper reasons instead of grabbing at straws for the band wagon of hate.
I didn't mean horrors of war, I meant the horrors of using a living being as a fucking bomb, suicide-bombers, ok fine, it's people, stupid as they are sacrificing themselves in war for their higher belief and hoping to take a few with them as they go.
however strapping explosives on a attack dog and sending them out is beyond me, I think it's sick.
and hey, about disliking the game for proper reasons, I think offensive content is a proper reason, it's in the game, a mechanic in it in fact. As far as my dislike for call of duty in general goes a long way past offensive content, so I'm apparently on a high horse for criticizing offensive material when I've said nothing about it being a bad game, even if it's a generic corridor shooter with abysmal story and in my opinion, pretty poorly feeling guns, the shooting is solid and there's a lot of perks and upgrades and whatever, but in my opinion it's a pretty samey poor experience.

GET EXCITED PEOPLE, SOON YOU WILL HAVE MW3, THE..the same game you've been playing since the 2007 release of modern warfare, with subtle tweaks and weapons, jeez you could've just have released multiplayer downloadable content every so often and you'll probly have more innovation than these games have been getting. multiplayer is what everyone plays anyways. oh and oh-yay, they added horde mode, people like that right!?
cant blame em though, they're selling like hotcakes so of course they're gonna try and make it as much as the last one as possible.
and as @Buzzkill said:

Exploding dogs is disgusting. They should pull this from the market.

Really? You could kill the dogs in W@W and BLOPS. Hell you can kill dogs in Fallout too.

Also have you seen this game, it's fucking nuts, and dogs with C4 attached to them is fucking nuts.

Just because other games do it doesn't make it more ok.
the game is nuts, true; dogs with c4 attached to them, not nuts, sick.
why do they even put attack dogs in it anyways? yet alone exploding attack dogs, you're not playing a last resort savage guerrilla group, you're a god damn soldier with access to technology, using inhumane war techniques =/

I really, really hope that every developer with a horde-mode in their game trademarks whatever stupid fucking name they come up with for it so that eventually they run out of names and no one else can pull one of these out of their ass ever again.

At this point I honestly have no idea. With every installment some people are always going to proclaim it to be the downward slide financially but I don't think it's possible to predict at this point.

Black Ops is the highest selling COD title to date, which pretty much makes it the highest selling modern video game, with 12 million units sold on the 360 alone.  Before it was released, Black Ops had the highest number of pre-orders of any video game in history.  MW3 already has broken the Black Ops pre-order record, and the game still won't be released for another three months.

Yep. It looks like a Modern Warfare game. That's not to say that this wave based survival mode doesn't look fun or anything, but I think I'm done with the series for good now. If I'm going to get any multiplayer focused modern military first person shooter it will probably be Battlefield 3 at this point.

Great another game with a survival mode, I was worried for a second. Is COD scared of 4 player Co-op for some reason? Why give us it in W@W then take it out again. Oh wait "It doesn't fit with the story of the campaign" you have 2 years to write it in tot the campaign, its not like your stories make a hell of a lot of real-world sense anyways.
Im not hating on COD as I'll probably pick it up after a while (if the reviews are good) and I'll defiantly be picking up BF3 and hoping it's not like BC2 but I want some damn Co-op. It's like teasing me and then taking it away every year. At least I have Dad Island and Gears 3.

PS. Martyrdom was cheap as a perk, allowing dogs to use it...really?

No, this is not what Spec Ops should be, i loved Spec Ops in MW2 especially the bridge level. Spec Ops was basically set pieces that were cut from the campaign but were too awesome to throw away. Besides this looks lame compared to Horde 2.0 in Gears 3.
Spec Ops was the only thing MW games still had going for themselves, and oh wait - they've jumped on the Zombies train. And guess what? I fucking hate Zombies.

Modern Warfare looking really rough compared to Battlefield 3 in the visuals department, I'd have hoped they would have at least tried to make it look a little better. That said graphics certainly don't make the game.

But I think I'm ready for Battlefield 3 to take my free time, much prefer the way DICE do multiplayer.

I don't understand why they still keep using white X-es when you shoot someone: in daytime maps you barely notice them and in nighttime, when the silhouettes and everything is dark,  it covers them and you can't see what's going on from distance. Make them red like in the latest shooters or, better, give the option of changing the color. Just don't make it the same color as the subtitles, mission text or mission titles or other indicators, because it's dull.

Also, I wish they'll make specific custom attachments for each and every weapon, rather than having the same red dot sight for every SMG or rifle.

Ridiculous? Hell yeah.

But that's just them understanding their audience. People interested in this are not interested in driving in the desert for 20 minutes just because the developers figured out how to render sand.

This better have matchmaking... Firefight in Halo ODST was made useless to me as I didn't have anyone on my friends list playing it and this would likely end up the same way.

Love survival modes though. If I end up getting this, I can see myself playing that a lot.

They aren't of the Jonathan Blow or That Game Company movement, but they know how to trigger endogenous morphine. That next-level guitar riff never fails to make me grin. You... do know that suicide dogs are an actual thing, right? I mean the anti-tank dogs in WWII were a dismal failure but it's way easier to train a dog to just run up to a person, plus they don't lose a soldier with every bomb.
True, but only by the Soviet Union, who's role in WWII is remembered as the complete devaluation of life. Stalin cared little for tactics, choosing instead to drown the Nazis in Russian blood. Don't get me wrong; I think the practice of using animals in warfare is horrible, but no more so than using humans. I find it both amusing and disturbing how many people cry out against one while overlooking the other.
