Spider man thread?

I'm sorry.

Posted by MildMolasses

I was really hoping it was adopting the art-style of that old cartoon.

Profoundly disappointed right now

Why is it so hard to make a good Spider-Man film or game? They come close but they never nail it for some reason.

@ravelle: Because the funiest thing is always web slinging, as it should be, but after that wears off, everything else is kind of iffy.

Though slinging is really fun.

That was on the Wii; right?

@sweep: That sounds like a bannable offense.

Mods are on top of writers on the org chart right?

Just HDify this game and you'll have sold a copy -

Does Activision publish anything surprising?

The thumbnail for this is way better then anything in the actual video.

As much as I love the swinging in that game, virtually everything else was broken. Start with recreating the swinging, then figure out how to make non-garbage combat.

I have more hope for next-gen Sonic than I do this game. Wut?

I was super excited to see that old cartoon art style in a game. Dissapointed.

Spiderman Thread?

Good to see Spiederman still has the ability to attach his web to the clouds. Power of the cloud everybody.

Honestly, I find Beenox to be incredibly overrated as a Spider-Man developer. They seem to only put just enough energy into a project for it to be released. Look at how much time they have had to work on Amazing Spider-Man! That thing was in development 2x as long as most tie-in games. they need to hand the reigns off to someone else.

Is this an Android/iOS game?

Well, alot of the licences they have they can only keep, by making use of the property within a certain number of years, if they dont, they lose it, called business.

Edited by Draxyle

I still don't know why Activision makes it their business to produce licensed shlock year after year despite having Call of Duty under their wing (I know I shouldn't judge until the game is actually out.. but an Activision licensed title being unpolished is as consistent as the sun rising).

But I do concur, that thumbnail is fantastic.

@ravelle: Personally, I really liked the first Spider-Man film, and loved the second one. It's one of my absolute favourite superhero Movies. Spider-Man 3? Ugh...

As for games, I haven't played a good Spider-Man game, so agree with you there.

Aw yeah, it's Spider-Time.

Nope, well done!

Proof that Spiderman 3 was the best Spiderman film.

You know what? No interest.

Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows were great, but the multiple Spider-Manses one, the two Spider-Manses one, and the movie one didn't look particularly fun.

Spider-man for the PSX was really good for that time, swinging from place to place, webbing people, doing missions and webbing people, but then every Spidey game was that. Shattered Dimensions was interesting though.

There are probably better properties to try a teaser trailer with. Ones that the entire world won't be skeptical about.

God damn it Patrick I thought because of that thumb we were getting a 70s cartoon spider man game, which would have been fucking amazing. Way to make my morning disappointing :(

Posted by AMyggen

@ravelle: I agree that it was interesting at the time, but I don't remember really liking that game. It's been a long time though.

Edited by SaturdayNightSpecials

That cartoon is so played, let's see a newspaper Spiderman game.

It would control like QWOP, only he would get tired and take a nap every 30 seconds.

Spider Man shouldn't be so dark and "real" and damn you patrick

Posted by Pop

Uh, that looks shitty.

Thanks @patrickklepek now I have this running thru my head...

Not that that's such a bad thing.

That final boss fight was the fucking worst.

That fucking thumbnail. What a game that would be. God damn you Klepek.

Anyway, hopefully this one is one of those Beenox Spider-man games that make something cool and new and you go "This is actually pretty good!" and not the ones that make you go "Yeah, if you really want a Spider-man game you should play [last good Spider-man game Beenox made] instead".

The Amazing Spider-Man™ is still 50 bucks on Steam, so it has to be good.

looks just as lame as every other spider man game made within the last 5 years..........

OMG you guys, there was this close-up of Spider-Man's face but then the camera pulled out and spun 180 degrees and TURNS OUT HE WAS UPSIDE-DOWN THE WHOLE TIME!

Posted by snowflame

I liked Amazing Spider-Man The Game. Shameless Arkham rip off? Yes. You were virtually undetectable climbing anywhere on the ceiling? Yes. Web-swinging from nothing? Yes.

However, the combat was fun. Slickly stealth-taking down guys in sequence really felt rewarding. They did a good job of working in old Spider-Man lore into the movie continuity, had better boss fights than the original Arkham (not hard to do), and for as much as people seemed like link Dishonored's Blink mechanic, ASM essentially did the same exact thing (technically) first.

Totally.

Only came in here to post this.

...come to think of it, aside from a terribad original Gameboy Spider-Man game, I don't think I've played any of the attempts at Spider-Man. Everything I'd see never quite jibed with the mental image of what a Spider-Man game would be like.
