NBA 2K12 Trailer Loves Its Slow-Mo Dunks

I'm sort of ready for some b-ball? Looks neat, but not exactly my thing. I have friends that play it, though, so maybe I'll cop out not to be lonely!

Looks pretty good, will give it a rent when its out.

But seriously, I have no idea how they intent to top last years effort. The only way I thought possible is if complete retro seasons could be played, however I think the NBAPA might have something to say about that....

I think this is the first time, in about a year of Bombing, that I've seen a sports video featured on the front page.

judging by the end splash screen your basktiers will have 3 different upgrade paths, lightning fire and teleportation wonder how they will balance it so teleportation will not be incredibly overpowered

@tal: @Keeng: How about a more interesting post game interview interaction for starters. That shit got so old. I agree that it was the best sports game I've played in a long time and I played the hell out of it and loved it! But it was far from perfect. You maybe can't expect a giant leap forward but there can be a lot done to make some of it more interesting. Expand the single player stuff. This legends of the NBA stuff is OK but it's all they are talking about, it's basically gonna be the Jordan Challenges again and I don't know about everyone else but I spent waaaay more time with my pro than I spent with Jordan last year, I'd like to see that part of the game more engaging. Give me more than just four dialog options at a press conference that doesn't mean anything except for a couple endorsement deals.

Day 1 purchase for me. Hell, the fact that Penny is in the game is enough to convince me to pre-order it.

Slo-mo doesn't seem very flattering for sports games. It's when it's been played really fast that it can almost look real if you're not looking closely. Slow motion just makes me notice "he's not really touching that ball" or "his pivot foot is sliding a whole foot", etc.  Maybe it's just me, but whatev.  Game will still be good and worth a rent.

I can't wait to see what they bring to the table in 2k12! 
 
Also, the video gave me goosebumps xD.. So great to see the greats doing some cool moves!

Cool trailer, but first time I've seen an NBA game in a while where I've though "we need a new generation of hardware" looking very dated in 2011.

I hope there are some outdoor street courts in this game.  I hear if you put the classic/retro Lakers on a street court, there's sure to be some Magic on the Blacktop. 

Classic teams are looking sweet. Not looking as forward to this as in past years due to the bad taste the lockout has left in my mouth. I have been wondering how they would handle the rookies and current players in the event that the lockout isn't resolved by the time the game comes out. Hopefully everything is resolved and the game lives up to the high expectations.

Yep, yep.

They've been looking aged for a few years now. As far as I can tell, they're still using the same engine as 2K6, which was this gen's first 2K basketball game. Despite some clear graphical progression, it's most definitely looking a bit aged. Every time I wish they'd use a new engine though, I think about how that could break everything that they've built to such greatness thus far. Eventually they're going to have to take that leap though. I hope it turns out well when they do.

This version's art style seems a little...cartoonish?  I'm still gonna pick it up, but something changed from last year's game.  Oh well!  As long as My Player has been improved (The ability to make somewhat human-looking players would be nice. ) and the game is super smooth in motion, I should be happy.

The game will probably be fantastic as always, with a ton of features, modes, and all-around great playing basketball. But, shit, when's the last time they updated the animations? I've seen those same dunks and passes since 2k8...

I don't play basketball games, but I grew up in Chicago in the 90s. Seeing Bill Cartwright's stupid free throw motion brings back some awesome memories. I'm tempted to pick this up.

A great trailer, but it looks like 2k11 with more back-rosters. Which, I don't know. That's not a huge selling point to me.

They need to improve some design issues and some AI issues before going all "Legends of Wrestlemania" with it.
