Ni no Kuni Looks Pretty Amazing

It was supposed to come out later this year, but it was pushed back to early 2013; nobody is quite sure why since all they are doing is localizing it.

I hope I can choose between English and Japanese dub with subtitles. I would prefer the latter.

So sad that this got pushed back to 2013. Easily my most anticipated PS3 title. The combat looks genuinely fun and unique and... DAT WORLD MAP. The colors, the proportions, the art design... it looks a lot like Chrono Trigger!

The main character in the last bit of the trailer looks almost identical to Brian from Quest 64.....

This looks great. Pity it's only coming to the PS3.

Saw some guy on Twitch stream the Japanese version... and it left me in awe. Gorgeous visuals, music, and the battle system looked interesting.

Ghibli does beautiful work, but I feel like they've been in a creative rut ever since Spirited Away took an Oscar. They should try some more mature slice-of-life projects like in the old days, be more Takahata and less Miyazaki for a while.

Everyone keeps saying this looks really amazing, but I dunno it just looks like an anime game to me.

I feel like some of the Naruto and Dragonball games have had a better look than this in that their characters look smoother and less polygonal...

I heard "pawn star," which is a pretty good substitute so long as he has a companion who just says "YUUUUUUUP" a whole lot.

Asura's Wrath DLC was basically a playable anime, and my last exposure to anime. This showed some running around so I don't know what it is.

It looks more similar to Rogue Galaxy on the exploration and combat...

I never would have said this a year ago but I actually really want to play this game.

Seem to remember hearing something about this game a while ago, definitely remember the name. I also remember wanting to play it. Unless I'm thinking of something else then ignore me.

Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 might very well be the most beautiful anime-style game out there (haven't seen the sequel). The characters definitely look better, they're more defined and less "blobby" than they look in this one. The world itself also looks great, though that's because it's drawn instead of 3D.

But more importantly it had some seriously well done cinematography. Not just during the intro and other cinematics but during the battles themselves as well. You could just look at the trailer that's here on GiantBomb (though it's slightly out of sync).

I backed up and listened to that ending spell at least 10 times, and for the life of me I can't make out anything except "porn star".

I mean it's unquestionably "-orn star" something, but the initial consonant is impossible to make out. Born star, corn star, mourn star, or torn star don't seem to make sense in the context. Not that "pron star" does either.

Is this game by any chance made by the guy that does Ponyo and those other good Japanese cartoon movies? I'm not usually into this type of thing, 'cause they often look like a regular old RPG (blue dragon or something), but I'm actually kind of amazed with this one. Oh and also, as someone pointed out, yeah, I heard him say pornstar as well. Funny. I think I'll look into this game a bit more. I'm not really that into anime or the Japanese culture all together, but my brother is, and I respect what they put out. After I had seen a handful of Hayao Miyazaki films, I thought "man, he has to either make a game, or help with one." I think some of the characters that are featured in his films, while grounded in reality kind of, are somewhat like the Zelda characters.

Man this is a beautiful looking game. Level 5's got a great track record, too.

You get to fly a dragon?  This game is officially better than Skyrim.
 
Also, Ni No Kuni is a super dumb name.

Ni no Kuni... and? the name of this game feels to me like someone presenting themselves at a job interview with just their first name , it should be something like Ni no Kuni : Kiko ni or something.
