Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Features Music from Composer Joe Hisaishi

Just in case you were worried this wouldn't have that distinctive Studio Ghibli flavor outside of the visuals, you apparently needn't worry.

Ni no Kuni's music wasn't that memorable, the story was standard JRPG, and the gameplay went from fun to tiring near the last half. I'd say you come to it for the Ghibli art and that's probably your best bet.

Making a bold statement; I honestly believe this has the potential to be the FF VI of this gaming gen. Just an artistic, involving, emotional accomplishment. Music, writing, art direction, production value, clear direction and vision. I really hope people support this so it finds the mainstream audience. These types of games really need to be made more often.

I already bought the C.E. so I'm putting my money where my mouth is. It's harking back to old school JRPGs, the questing and overworld, it honestly has me excited. I haven't bought a C.E. since Mass Effect 1.

Nice. It's been my most anticipated game for quite some time. Have the lovely CE version with the plush toy and spell book pre-ordered.

It's not, and the latter half of the game revolves around spamming the Gradion spell while running in circles. It's a solid game but nothing spectacular.

@Vinchenzo:

Thanks for your opinion, I'll decide how good I think it is though. One person having a bad experience or not liking it doesn't really make a definitive declaration of the games quality.

Yeah, after playing the demo I was not even sure if I wanted to play more. But hey, it's still cool that Level-5 and Studio Ghibli worked together. That's actually something I've been pondering about since Dark Cloud is a "what if" they did.

I hope you're joking when you say this piece of music is not memorable

I love the shit out of his music and it is half the reason Totoro and the others are so good.

@Grissefar: It's not a bad piece of music but it pops up every time you're on the overworld. So while I didn't hate it I got tired of it.

I hope he does a concert of this someday like he said at the end the video because the ones they did for Studio Ghibli films were magical. I listen to his music when doing work and it's just so relaxing. This soundtrack from the little I have heard sounds as good if not better than his other work

Isn't that also honestly what everybody does?

I really haven't heard anybody else talk about the gameplay with much enthusiasm either. I guess that hurts the prospects of this becoming a franchise.

I was pretty excited for this, but having read from people that have played the Japanese version, it's the basically the same exact RPG that Japanese studios have been continually remaking for 20 years now. Random encounters, lots of grinding, characters that stand in one spot delivering a one repeated line. Basically any Dragon Quest game except with Ghibli's instead of Toriyama's aesthetics. I'm sure for some people that kind of throwback is exactly what they're looking for. Sadly I lost my taste for formulaic JRPGs many years ago.

At first it seems there's a lot of dynamic to the gameplay since you have 3 main characters and 3 ninajinn (or whatever they call them in English) for each of those 3 characters. So you go into it thinking there's a lot of variety, but you'll realize there really was no variety once you make the Gradion staff, which gives you the Gradion spell. This'll fuck up every enemy; I spammed it for the last 25% of the game which took away all the excitement but it's really the best spell.

Well the game has a kiddy look and, understandably so, a very simplistic and "heartwarming" story. You'll play through the most predictable start to finish story you've ever seen. It'll wrap up and you still will not have cared about the characters or the ending that you could see coming from a mile away.

It's about a 45 hour game, then 25+ more hours for the side-quests. I did everything but one side-quest because I wasn't about to grind 5 items for, from what I read, the ingredients to synthesize an item to finish the quest.

I read Vinchenzo's comments and thought of Popolocrois. An okay JRPG with adorable kiddy story.

I'm getting this.

i usually don't care to overly much about music in a game. Well, only if it is noticeably bad. But I friggin love Ghibli's movies scores. Not sure if he did Princess Mononoke's music or not but that was great. Oh yeah, Ponyo was awesome as well.

I'm very excited about this game, but the more I see, the less it feels like Studio Ghibli to me. That may change once I start playing it, though.
