This just looks like they threw Pokemon in a Dragon Quest game. I'm not entirely opposed to that idea.

I'm glad they finally got around to making a 3DS Pokemon game. Now I can actually use the wireless functionality! Stupid DS only supporting WEP.

The story in this game is that team X wants to enslave all the Female Pokemon. And Team Y wants to Enslave all the Male pokemon. Its just another in a long list of games that Patrick will have to wright an article on.

If nothing else, this makes me want to replay the Gen 1 and 2 games. That's perhaps unhealthy, since I've so much to play already.

This just doesn't appeal to me. I know it's not supposed to appeal directly to me, it's that whole "first Mario Kart" syndrome, but the idea of a polygonal Pokemon game should be rad as fuck.

X and Y as in coordinates. The Yellow/Crystal/etc. version of these games is going to be Z, i.e., Pokemon 3D.

This naming convention is just plain stupid. I guess it is trying to emphesize the 3D aspect of the game, as being the x- and y-axis, though this means you only have 2 D's... Unless... Maybe they will reveal a third game??? Pokemon Z...

They already lost me at Diamond/Pearl. This sure as heck ain't bringin me back.

Those new Pokemans look reaaaaaaaaal bad. I stand by the opinion that they should reboot entirely, pick the best Pokémon from among all the sets they've had (say, cap it around 300 or something) and just focus on getting radical with the design changes.

And that doesn't mean just make it polygonal and make navigation slightly different and calling it a day either. Make it a Wii U game. Involve all kinds of crazy Demon's/Dark Souls-esque online features along with robust tournaments and balance updates. Make it bigger than this half-joke cash cow that comes out every couple of years to the delight of six-year-olds everywhere.

For the record, I was ten when the first Pokemans came out and I thought they were rad as heck. You know, I still do. I love playing those old ones. It tickles the nostalgia bone, but there's also a tone and feel to the Game Boy/Game Boy Color games they seem to have lost entirely by the time Ruby/Sapphire came out.

It seems a little early for another generation already, but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm gonna choose that frog looking thing.

Super excited! It's still no real time battles with a complete view of the battlefield but I'm glad to see some improvement. Can't wait.

It also seems like the pronunciation of the word Pokémon is still a mystery. Pokiemon, Pokayman,Pokehmon.

This naming (if the 3rd game is Pokemon Z) is actually really really clever seeing as X, Y, and Z are the 3 axes used when measuring something in 3 dimensions.

You're not 10 years old anymore, that's the problem. Making a console game pandering to grown-up nerd nostalgia and the "ugghhh, any Pokemon introduced after Gold/Silver is bad just because!!!" mindset would be the surefire way to ruin the series.

The Japanese logo's imply the names refer to DNA, not co-ordinates.

Also, Black and White had sequels instead of third versions, so it's unlikely they'd go back to just having a third, slightly modified game this time.

This should've been the game they released on the Gamecube.

No, it's not. It's pronounced "Pokemon".

I was hoping for a Pokémon U. Think about a Pokémon snap minigame using the game pad, would be cool.

I'm tired of battling pokemon. Let's have a DK64 style pokemon adventure game instead.

The third game will be Pokemon Z, it's a play on the 3D thing.

I saw Chespin and instantly recoiled. I first thought it was because it was a terrible design, but it's not completely awful. The real reason I was so taken aback by Chespin was because it's the first Grass starter that's not a reptile. I wonder what animal it's based on, because they usually have really good reasons/interesting animal inspirations for their designs.

Patrick must be going apeshit over those names.

Also, Pokémon is very easy to pronounce if you understand the accent "é." In French, the "e accent aigu" (é) sounds like "ay," hence the "poh-kay-mohn" that you always hear in official videos and such =)

The new Pokemon all look so weirdly circular. Something about the designs are kind of disturbing compared to the earlier Pokemon.

Squirtle? Fucking nobody ever chose Squirtle. You either went with Bulbasaur (because Brock can go fuck himself) or Charmander (because Brock can go fuck himself later when you have a giant goddamn dragon at your command).
