@Draxyle: Best time. The Pokémon design has gotten shitty but with a MAJOR change to the series like this it's a perfect time to get back into the series. you DON'T need to play the other ones but they're dope if you liked Red.

When I see a trailer like this with a release date, I always wonder if that means the company has just committed to an ungodly, soulcrushing crunch, or means that the game is already basically done.

I wish Nintendo would make a big Pokemon game for once...

Not that I doubt the quality of the handheld games, but I' always wanted to play a full on Pokemon game on the big screen ever since I was a kid.

Finally. This October I will have a game to play on my 3DS I bought last year. I really hope now that our human person is 3D that we can customize how she looks and what she wears.

Because, Masuda has stated before in interviews that he sees the series as a portable franchise. The name literally means pocket monsters and he thinks of it as something where you can fit your team in your pocket to go play with friends outside and crap. It makes sense from the japanese perspective where a lot more local co-op happens, one of the reasons portable Monster Hunter has been bigger there than non portable games as well.

Its about time Game Freak moved on from the 8 bit design. I've got no problem with the series, but even on the DS they still felt like 8 bit games.

Already knew about that statement. Still ungodly stupid. One of the many reasons I tell nintendo to eat a dick nowadays.

I was really hoping it would be either Pokemon Snap 2 or remakes of Sapphire/Ruby. But this...this is acceptable and I'll get it because I love pokemon. 'Nuff said.

@WinterSnowblind: Ehh, I personally think that the B/W games were sorta an experiment for gamefreak to try something different. Or at least B2/W2, because I mean...this game had to have been in development for some part of B2/W2's development cycle.

Colors, Metals, Gemstones... Fundamental Dichotomies... and now Cardinal Axes. I can get behind that. X and Y. With Z to be released next year.

Also, while I'm not much for the individual 'Mon, I'd put Kirlia's evo line over Squirtle's.

Man i really wish they'd reset the franchise. If they released a new pokemon where you had to catch 151 again I'd probably jump right in. But the completionist within cannot get past the huge requirement it takes to 100% these games now.

Here's what you can come up with in a 2 minute brainstorm on improving the pokemon franchise and bringing it to console while differentiating it from handheld versions:

take the first 150 pokemons (more would be way to much work to model and animate). Make it an action RPG in the exact template of all handheld pokemon games. Direct control over your pokemons in an 3D semi open world. HOW FUCKING COOL WOULD THAT BE? I would run to a store to buy a WiiU right this second if they announced that.

But no, same game from 1999 every other year is fiiiiiine...

That sounds awful and it would make a third of the money of the handheld games while costing 5 times more to develop.
