Nintendo's Not Holding Another E3 Press Conference, But...

It's so hard for me to not like you, Mega 64.

What's the Konami press conference going to have now that Mega 64 have switched to Nintendo!?

Yeah, me neither. I like video games and all, but just because it's video game based humor, isn't enough for me I guess.

But more importantly, what a horrible way to get information out. It was pretty hard to understand what that guy was saying while he was pretending to be sweaty and out of breath.

Super disappointed that Nintendo doesn't do a proper E3 conference. I look forward to the big E3 circus so much, it's a shame Nintendo doesn't participate in the excitement. A pre-cooked video presentation just isn't the same.

If this video is reminiscent of what Nintendo has to offer at E3, I weep for them. I understand why they didn't want to go toe to toe with Sony and Microsoft last year, but you would think this year they at least try to show like they are even in the same ball park as the other consoles.

Right now they are out in the parking lot selling knock off t-shirts!

If nothing else, this is at least a pretty funny video.

I couldn't be happier for Mega64. They've come such an insanely long way from posting WMVs to download and watch to this.

I am genuinely curious to see how Nintendo demos Tomodachi Life at E3.

And I know this probably won't happen, but I want the winner of that Smash Bros tournament to play against Reggie as himself, which causes Nintendo to announce that Reggie is a secret character in the new Smash Bros! Final Smash: PLAY THE GAME!

This is really stupid. I love it.

I would have felt differently a few years ago, but at this point, I don't care a whole lot about E3 conferences. I enjoy the hype and spectacle, but half of the biggest showings are tiny vertical slices of proof of concepts that are years from release. I'm a fan of the way Nintendo is keeping a lot of their announcements close to their chest and showing them via Nintendo Directs once they're actual products with imminent release dates.

I have no idea if it makes good PR or business sense to stay so low-key, but I personally think their current Nintendo Direct system is a much more sensible and respectful (of my intelligence) way of showing games.

I don't know, I think the weirdest thing of all that was seeing Jeff wearing a watch. I guess he used to do that in the early 00's, but still.

What the shit, that was great and informative.

Interestingly, I always figured Reggie was a corporate robot ready to kill at a moment's notice. An inhuman salesman trying to blend into his surroundings while revealing cracks in the facade now and then.

We all had to back in those dark days of either not having a cell phone, or if you did, you couldn't easily hit a button to show you the time. The screens were so small. They were so small!

Press conferences are so staged, I'm glad they're going for a more casual approach. I like Reggie even though he does come across like a Robot sometimes.

When Nintendo exits the home console business in < 2 years, people are probably going to wish they took the energy they wasted putting together stuff like this stupid video and put it towards making an effort to get their console to become more appealing to the masses again.

Reggie jokes in 2014 are like making Snakes on a Plane jokes in 2014.

I could never get into mega 64. I like the premise and ideas but i never find the execution that great.

I main Pikachu in Brawl. No one can touch me.

Stuff like this makes me excited for Nintendo, like they still have a lot of fight left in them and are at least trying to connect with their audience in relevant ways in the face of such an insane amount of pressure and competition in the market right now.

I don't know what the future has in store for Nintendo but I hope they keep jumping head first into blazes of glory like this with whatever they end up doing and wherever they land in the industry.

Anyone who liked the weirdness of this and hasn't seen the tomodachi life video, well, do yourselves a favor.

This was kinda dumb, but at least something was put into it. Hopefully Nintendo does have a good E3.

I don't know why Nintendo is doing this but they have a shareholder meeting in 2 months and if the WII U is still falling short on catching up with the PS4, then it's bye-bye to President Iwata. I know this is serious, but they better show up at E3 or I'm not buying another Nintendo console anymore

Man this is so great and self-aware... I can't even imagine the whole PLAY THE GAME having ever happened after watching this.

Also, Smash Bros! I'll probably be watching all of that instead of E3.

I think Mega64 are funnier in concept than execution. Though I totally love how the top guys at Nintendo are fine with goofing around.
