Do you consider 5:38 pm evening?

Edited by Nekroskop

Video games? I like those.

Edited by Y2Ken

It's never too late for coffee, but thanks for the video anyway Scoops!

Loved your thoughts on criticism. I agree. Just because you don't like something; doesn't mean it's wrong. It's all subjective I guess.

Posted by ildon

@mx: I sure do.

It's never too late for caffeine!

Patrick is a clever guy. Pretending that it is water when in actuality it is vodka.

In most cases, I think that "go somewhere else" feels needlessly defensive, dismissive, and really underplays the relationship between reader and writer.

Games criticism is valueless if the reader doesn't understand the writer. Giantbomb is far and away the best gaming site because of how well we know Patrick, Jeff, Vinny, Brad and Alex and how well we understand their taste.

If Giantbomb ever became something that I couldn't deal with (not sure how that could happen, just a hypothetical) there would be nowhere else for me to go.

Not sure I've ever said anything that warranted a "go somewhere else" from the staff, but I've certainly heard it directed at the audience before. Every time it grates like sandpaper. Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine.

In any case, thanks for the video Patrick. Really miss having you around the office with the guys, but I'm also enjoying the amount of video content you've been releasing.

@mx: The 5 o clock hour is a bit of a mix up, but under most circumstances I would say its the evening. I also live in Canada and in the winter its dark by 5 so that influencess my perspective.

Really appreciate moving the camera Patrick. Nothing against the way you look but when people are that close for prolonged periods it makes me uncomfortable.

Edited by bybeach

You don't need that much vodka. I was on phone tag all week, just on the dividing line of calling me in for service. Never happened. Guess that was easier than you (Pat) having to actually go in. That would piss me off. They tend to only do that for a day unless one is selected.

As for 'going somewhere else' I like where you went with it.

I never really drink coffee. In the morning I have found that water is actually good enough (science has proven a full glass of water in the morning works) and if I need anything more then I drink an orange juice or something. I have been trying my best to ween off of caffeine and as much sugar.

Coffee time, Water time. Either one is fine to me. Digging it scoops.

Hey Pat, if you're going to play a bunch of golf I'd really recommend getting a good teacher. I only had a few lessons with mine but it really improved my game. Also try not to give too much attention to other people's advice on your swing etc. as I found you end up getting a bunch of conflicting information which ends up harming you more than it helps. Remember that each person will have different things that work for them due to massive amount of variables that can affect your game.

Also golf is about 90% mental so STAY MAD POSI BRO.

Patrick I appreciate all the content you have been churning out, keep it up.

I think this new camera angle is weird. Like I'm spying down on Patrick from the rafters. Well, not quite.

Vodka is just Russian for water.

Is Jury Duty seriously not optional?

Posted by NekuCTR

Did you dye your beard hair or something Patrick? It looks so much fuller in this video... and sexier.

Edited by ZombiePie

Is Jury Duty seriously not optional?

Once turning 18 jury duty is required in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

This dude sounds drunk. Patrick is slurring words and it's kinda annoying but amusing at the same time.

I appreciate ya, Scoops! You're the Joakim Noah of GB! People give you a buncha shit, but you're a big part of what makes this team work. Keep it up, homie!

Huh, I had Jury Duty on Sept. 30th. It was very boring and I find it uncomfortable as well.

That facial hair is giving me anxiety.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar. It annoys me too when people say that, especially people that are clearly capable of critical thinking like Patrick...

I think they generally mean like if you want specific MMO or MOBA coverage, or they don't cover things like Pokemon or whatever, you'll need to go somewhere else. It really does sound dismissive, though, but I felt like Patrick's explanation made sense.

They almost never do it on the site, but I do find the political views of the staff members (and how most people in the industry seem to share the same California-centric nonsense politics) often disturbing when they pop up on Twitter or elsewhere. It challenges my general view that these guys are intelligent, thoughtful guys but they still are the best gaming site around and get that right.

Does patrick ever stop drinking alcohol? jeez

Edited by periahdark

Coincidentally, I was playing Kingdom Hearts while watching this. The HD re-releases. I'm a huge KH fan, but I agree with you. These games are complete nonsense. But it's the kind of nonsense I can get behind. The story is so convoluted that I can't help but be interested. I mean, the end of the last game involved time travel. FUCKING TIME TRAVEL. What the fuck?

I never understood the water thing, come on at least give us a bourbon or something ;)

When you said that you probably won't be working at Giant Bomb for the rest of your life, that was kind of a harsh reminder that this won't last forever. I don't know what I'll do if Giant Bomb isn't around.

Wait so Patrick is a 6'11 Cameroonian French guy.

@manlybeast: You're a weak minded simpleton who's cognitive ability and intellectual prowess resembles that of an autistic chimp.

Posted by Stevesonaplane

Oh snap son! You're gonna be working with Max? That's awesome. He always seemed like a really swell guy. So what's the 411 on this?

Posted by Getz

Patrick. I got mad respect for you. You are essentially what I wanted to be for a large part of my life and I think you're doing great at what you set out to do.

Thing is, you're just too wrapped up in the zeitgeist of games culture. Maybe it's a hazard of your profession. But as soon as I hear you talking about "Women in Games TM" I just tune out. The topic du jour these days has always been this and as a man I can't help but roll my eyes at those who take offense at the "exclusion" of female voices in gaming.

I don't know, I'm not really interested in going in depth on this topic right here, in this comment section. I guess I just feel like your intellect is squandered on dwelling on this non-issue that affects such a tiny vocal minority of the gaming population (female gamers not being the minority: angry, indignant gamers interested in gender politics being the minority)

Maybe I'll write a blog later properly expressing this...

This may be old news to everyone except to me, but I did not know Patrick smokes cigars! I cannot even imagine a fuzzy picture of him smoking one.

Nice thing about these talky videos is that I don't have to download the HD version, hurrah.
