I feel like the lack of touch controls are going to hinder this experience pretty severely, but also do not care because I would very much like to play this game.

Edited by captain_max707

Guess I'll have to buy it again

Posted by HarlequinRiot

Is this worth playing on the iPhone or does it need the bigger screen of the iPad?

Posted by joshwent

@sissylion: Yeah. I've sort of wished that The Room would have come to PC just to get more exposure, but it benefits so much from the touch interface. This game seems similar.

Oh well, I'm lucky enough to have an iPad, so I'll shut up now and go finally buy Year Walk on it.

Edited by Flay

Finally! This and The Room were the only reasons I would consider getting an iPad, now I have one less.

a) Why did it take so long?
b) fuck yes I can finally play it.

Patience again rewards me!

Amazing!

@atwa: Sounds like they're rebuilding a lot of it, at a technological level and at a design level. Plus, DEVICE 6 and all.

yes.

Okay, fine, I'll play this damn game. HAPPY NOW, PATRICK?

Posted by Icicle7x3

Bout time, took them almost a year...........walk.

I got nothing.

Posted by VibratingDonkey

Damn it. I just bought it yesterday for my shitty iPod.

Edited by ErinIsADrunk

Using the companion app on my phone while playing the game on PC could be an interesting way to replay the game.

Edited by SaturdayNightSpecials

Great, be careful never to put it on Android you guys.

Posted by HisHeroIsGone

oh hell yes

Edited by Danin

Isn't there a bunch of multitouch-centric puzzle design in Year Walk?

Posted by Undeadpool

I am SO stoked for this!

I feel like the lack of touch controls are going to hinder this experience pretty severely, but also do not care because I would very much like to play this game.

I thought the same thing about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on PS2, but the experience was still completely worth it.

Good, I certainly wasn't going to buy an iPad for this

Posted by Miyuki

Just bought it for ipad... I would have rather played on PC though, I hate gaming on the ipad. Oh well... it's a fantastic game, and I want more people to play it!

Edited by fisk0

Great, was hoping for an PC or Android (or Vita!) release, since I have no interest in getting an iOS device.

Edited by Castiel

Oh shut up Patrick I was going to play this game anyway. I was actually just hoping/waiting for a PC version.

Now they just need to release The Room.

My excuse is still valid: I'm scared.

I don't know if The Room benefits that much from touch controls. Everything you do in that game can be very easily done with a mouse and with more accuracy (not that it was really needed) and, for me, much more comfort.

Glad to hear the good news since I just switched to Android, and never felt like playing the game on my old iPhone what with the tiny screen and all that

Edited by joshwent

It could absolutely work with a M&KB, but I think there was (for me at least) something unique about turning a key, or lifting a lid with your finger that subtly added a lot to the immersion. But I agree, it wouldn't necessarily hurt it (or Year Walk) with PC controls, it might just loose a little something special.

My phone was too old to play this, so now Im really excited!

Posted by VarkhanMB

This is exactly what I've been waiting for! So happy to finally get a chance to see it!

It will be mine.

How is this on a phone and should I read the companion before I play the game or while I play the game as a reference piece?

Posted by Hassun

FINALLY. Any word on Device 6?

Posted by WheezinEddy

@flay: the room is available on android if you don't have apple devices

Posted by coaxmetal

Oh that's awesome. I own this on ios and really like it, but never finsihed it because I hate playing games on my phone

@billyhoush: It plays ok on the iPhone, but the experience does benefit significantly from the larger screen on the iPad. Initially the companion app is an encyclopedia for the stuff you encounter in the game. You'll do fine just looking up stuff you come across as you play through the game. Saying anything more about it would venture into spoiler territory.

Posted by Positrark

@csl316: As someone who scares easily, I actually found it fairly tolerable. It's more about mood than outright jump scares and stuff like that. A couple of moments are creepy for sure, but overall I don't think you should let fear of playing it discourage you too much.

Edited by blueguy316

I found it to be a good art style with a fairly interesting story, but the gameplay was pretty much memorization of patterns with trial-and-error application to environmental gameplay - not very rewarding. I'd recommend Youtubing or heavy reliance on a walkthrough. Just my opinion, though.

About time. I've been checking every month or so to see if it was ever coming to Android.

Hoorah.

This abuse of power by Patrick Klepek to force his taste in games upon us has been going on too long. First it starts off with an innocent "Worth Reading." Then slight suggestions like "Worth Playing." But then abusing his staff power by claiming Final Fantasy 8 is the best Final Fantasy, engaging in a public power struggle with Jeff over Yoshi's Island, and now trying to force us to play Year Walk.

Where does it end?!

Seriously though, after I bought, lost interest in, and was disappointed by Superbrother's Sword and Sworcery EP on the PC, I'm not sure if touch screen games transfer well over to the ol' Mouse and Key. It just ends up being tedious.

Edited by ripelivejam

@abendlaender: i don't think so, which is weird cause im terrible at beating ANYTHING lately and even i beat it.

maybe it bored him in the end or it just slipped his mind, but he definitely needs to sit down for 2 or 3 hours (w/beadphones) and power through it.

wonderfully eerie experience, definitely worth getting. :)

I don't feel like this will translate well to PC. It's great on iOS, though (I played it on iPhone, sure it would be even better on iPad).

Thank Christ on a cracker! Now give us an Android or PC port of Device 6 in the springtime, please
