Northern Exposure: Our Chat With Nolan North

This has to be the best piece of content on Giant Bomb this year. I couldn't stop laughing. Nolan, you just sold one of your books.

Patrick did fine. Ryan looked nervous and Nolan can't talk to himself for 38 minutes. Patrick did well with questions, keeping the conversation going. Those complaining about him staring at Nolan, what do you expect him to do? He is being polite by looking at him while he is talking, and Patrick is obviously interested. When someone talks to you, do you stare at the wall? Also, just in general cut the guy some damm slack. This is a big deal for Giantbomb, which is still a new site. If you were in the video entertainment business and you had breakthrough for someone to popular to be on your show, you wouldn't be slightest bit awkward? Giantbomb is very much a growing site, and it oppurtunities like these that help move into professional interviews.

Also he mimed breaking Patrick's neck. That ending was a genuine slow clapper.

God damn Patrick, really annoying. But Nolan North is so awesome.

Man, Nolan North is so charismatic, even when he's telling Patrick "The adults are talking".

Great Interview with Nolan, I hope the book is available to buy on Amazon in the UK at some point, did a search for it but doesn't appear to be listed.

Oh, Nolan North you're so awesome! Great interview. However, I can't believe Patrick called Nolan an asshole! I know he was kidding but, that's Nolan North he's talking to! O_O

Love the interview, that was great. Nolan North seems like a genuinely nice guy.

And Patrick, this is just a bit of advice. Please don't take this as Internet rage because it isn't. I love what you do and people who bag on you are assholes. But when you do interviews, try not to interrupt or run over the guy you're interviewing. The focus should be on the guy that's being interviewed so if you interrupt him then it looks and feels awkward.

Again, please don't think I'm some random Internet forum kid; I'm just trying to offer some constructive criticism.

Wow Patrick was just plain rude and bad get someone else like Brad to do the interviews since he understands what banter is and when it is not appropriate to cross certain lines with interviewees

Yeah that made me cringe also. I know this is all about video games and there is going to be some joking around, but a certain amount of professionalism is needed especially when doing interviews. I could tell Patrick was a bit nervous, so that is a contributing factor. Just relax Pat and tone it down just a bit there brother. :)

p.s. Oh and Nolan did a great job rolling with those punches. He kept turning the awkward moments around. Definitely a good interview.

Although they seemed way to nervous. Come on, he's just a voice actor. You're probably more well known than he is.

yeah Patrick writes great features but his interaction with Nolan was pretty painfull to watch. Even Nolan himself seemed to get annoyed

Patrick didn't really have a choice but to stare at the person they were interviewing. If there is anyone to blame for the awkward eye contact, its the couch. Couches were not meant for interviews, because you have to turn your head to look at the other person, which makes it really awkward. Its fine for TNT and shit like that because the other person on the couch isn't fucking Nolan North. Cut Patrick some slack, all of the people saying patrick is annoying would do the exact same thing if put in the seat next to him.

Why is he so cool?  Augh!  I love you, Giant Bomb!

God bless you Nolan North, you stallion of a man. But, hate to agree with the haters, Patrick bugged me in this. I usually like him on the Bombcast and Quicklooks but why did he keep trying to out-shine the guest?

Mad respect not only for wrangling more in-house interviews, but for not throwing up a Giant Bomb watermark on the whole vid. Using the TV is the right way to go.

Although Nolan has done a ton of voice work for video games and animated TV series he has also done TV shows so he's more than just a Voice actor.

Most content like this I listen to rather than watch, funny how different an opinion you can get when you don't see reactions. Would like to have been a fly on the wall for when the cameras were cut.

@Joey2683: Well to be fair there was one time when Patrick interrupted Nolan talking pretty badly - these things happen, but I agree with you mostly. Patrick even helped out few times when the conversation or question promoted a rambling answer so he being there was perfectly fine. It wasn't a perfect interview but North seemed like a cool guy and clearly understood where the nervousness was coming from.

Just bought his iPad book. Great stuff.

I feel sad they didn't give him trophies for the Northies.

With that said, this was a really great interview. So little website make interviews so funny without being disrespectful yet serious without being boring. Every time I see a video like this it makes me feel really good about being a subscriber and helping this amazing website.
