Things have been getting a little too fan-servicey in the Persona world lately, it's starting to worry me about the future of the series.

If it gets more people to play Persona I say go for it, as long as P5 is still awesome :3

So much fan service for a super late PS2/Vita only title--I'd love to see a PS3/Steam version of Persona 4.

I don't see the problem of making fanservice games for the people who want more of the Persona 3/Persona 4 world, while keeping things fresh with a whole new entry in the series.

P4: Dancing All Night is also coming to Vita in NA, love those jams!

Persona 4 Golden got me to buy a Vita, now this game will probably force me to finally buy a 3DS. Damn you, Atlus! (shakes fist in general direction of Japan).

I was just thinking the other day about wanting a North American release for this game. Glad to see Atlus can read my mind.

While I always knew Persona 5 would likely get a Western release, the other games were the ones I was unsure about, and I was absolutely giddy to find out they were all coming over.

I wonder if that song is supposed to be in English. It seriously took me until close to the end of Persona 4 for me to realize that almost all of the songs were in English, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was.

Also I'm looking forward to this.

As I am playing Etrian Odyssey IV right now, I am stupidly excited for this. Definitely a chocolate-peanut butter situation

Fair enough. My perspective is that they're re-purposing characters in ways that betrays the spirit of the original games and that worries me, especially following some of the writing in arena where the characters seemed to occupy smaller and smaller spaces until their personalities were reduced to single note references to the original games (Chie is steak, Akihiko is fighting, ect.). In some ways it seems like the creative spirit that drove Persona 3 & 4 and gave them what felt like a very particular vision has diminished.

It might have zero bearing on where the series goes from here though, they might have just run into a bit of a wall in terms of how to deal with these characters.

I see what you're saying and I somewhat agree, but all of these P4 spin-off titles really are fanservice first, so it makes sense that they wouldn't be as thought out in terms of narrative and how the characters are depicted compared to a mainline title.

I wouldn't worry too much in the case of Persona 5. I have faith that Atlus knows what they're doing with it and that the story and characters will be just as engrossing as the other RPGs.

So.... this is super non-canon, right? If the P3 MC is there and it's canon, then that would be a pretty big deal for a 3ds spin off game...

Haven't had a chance to play the Persona series but this looks pretty neat. Still waiting for a Vita price drop before I get it with Persona 4: The Golden.

It said something about a labyrinth containing persona users from across time. This could totally be cannon.

Huh. I was looking at 3DS RPGs earlier today. Nice to have something in the pipeline.

Also, why do the characters look like babies? Is that just cause it's on a Nintendo platform?

I can't wait to see the 3 and 4 cast playing off against each other. The voice cast in Persona is pretty solid so...

...my god, I could put the P3 protagonist and Yosuke together and have a Yuri Lowenthal party.

@jedted: Because it's being made by the Etrian Odyssey people, and that's pretty much their art style.

Weird chibi art style is super awful, but I don't think I can turn down a persona dungeon crawler from the director of Etrian Odyssey 4.

They do, just like in all of the other spin-off games/media.

The game takes place at the same time P3 and P4 take place, so if it's supposed to be canon, massive memory loss at the end of the game will have to take place for anything to make sense.

Well that's great to hear. I was really interested in checking out that 3ds game. Also, that title font straight up reminds me of Scooby Doo.

I wonder if they're spreading themselves too thin with all these Persona games.

# glad they're bringing P3 characters back, I preferred them just a bit to the P4 ones. something about the soothing emo color palate and outfit designs.

Never played a persona game, but I am all about JRPGs and I have a 3DS, so hell yea!

The fact is that all of them are collaboration jobs with the sole exception of Persona 5.

Persona Q = Etrian Odyssey team + P Studio

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax = Arc System Works + P Studio

Persona 4: Dancing All Night = Dingo + P Studio

Literally, the only game P Studio is handling all by themselves is Persona 5, which is arguably the most important game out of all of them, so I wouldn't say the developers are spreading themselves too thin.

Unless you mean in terms of the IP, in which case I would say that Atlus is putting out stuff other than Persona as well.

That doesn't really make much sense either considering P4 takes place a year or two after P3. I had just assumed the "across time and space" line in the trailer met this was some weird time travel story that will probably end in a mind wipe for all of the characters. Either way, I cant wait to inject this game right into my veins.

We've had the story details for a while. It's even shown in trailer PV#2 where it shows you exactly when the game takes place in relation to the P3 and P4 timelines.

Persona Q takes place during the events of Persona 3 and Persona 4. In Persona 3, it takes place when the school festival has been cancelled. In Persona 4, it takes place during the last day of the school festival.

Persona Q takes place at the same times those games take place, and that is fact. This is why I say if the game is meant to be "canon", it will involve massive memory loss at the end or else Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 4 Arena will not work in terms of storyline at all.

@heyguys: I don't see the problem with spinoffs being fanservice. Really before 4 there wasn't any spinoffs(unless you count P3P FeMC since it's non-canon), so that's why we wouldn't have really seen hard fanservice. It can't really effect the mainline series unless they shove P3/4 characters in there which they aren't, so I don't see what's worrying about it.

I absolutely love the ending where the protagonist from Persona 3 jumps through the air in an action pose... to shoot himself in the head.

I sincerely hope this isn't the beginning of milking the franchise dry, and is just some quick offshoot. Even then, I don't know how to feel about this.

I can't solve the mystery of this Labyrinth, because I ate to much festival food and have to take a nap now.

I wonder if there's any way I can, y'know...not use any of the Persona 3 characters and just stick to my Persona 4 cast. Hope so.
