OK, Alien: Isolation Looks Terrifying

wow even watching the trailer made me really scared,then again i tend to avoid scary games as im a big pussycat :P

Well, this has loads of potential.

Edit: I've started watching the IGN video and it's pretty bad. Instead of just showing gameplay footage and talking over it. You watch them talk about it for a few minutes, then they show a few seconds of footage, then it cuts back to them talking again. Rinse, Repeat. The Videogamer.com video is much better and the commentary contains a more frank opinion about the game. It seems that IGN are milking a very small amount of footage across a 26 minute video. I don't know who those IGN guys are but they are coming across more like marketing people for the game instead of editorial staff.

Looks a lot like Routine. I'm fine with that. More first-person horror games set in space, please.

Pretty sure you're right, but said trailer music was actually a callback to the Alien trailer.

Let's hope they at least release it in a more finished state than they did with Rome 2.

@robopengy: In a sense, yes. But then Prometheus just had a more modern version of the 'music' in the original 'Alien' trailer too. :)

Aliens: Total War

It doesn't matter how much it sucks, Colonial Marines lowered the bar so much this has no possibility but to at least be an improvement. "A return to form for Aliens games!" the critics will say. "At least as good as Aliens vs Predator!"

And we'll take it. Because Colonial Marines showed us what happens when something isn't at least as good as AvP and it's not a pretty sight.

+1 for the fact that there wasn't a single gun in the entire trailer. However, I'm far from forgiving the people running the Alien license for the debacle of CM. Not necessarily because it was a bad game but because they pulled the fleece over gamers eyes by misrepresenting what the game was. I hope they don't shit the bed again with this one.

I've been hoping for a pure horror game for a while. This could be it :D.

Well my request for an Alien game based on Amnesia has been granted. Now if it is at least close to as good as Amnesia we'll have our first great Alien game.

I love that low-fi-ness, everything is push the button pull that lever. cool.

also I try to interpret all the "this game is going to be terrible" as "don't get hopes too high so when the game turns out awesome you'll enjoy more"

Okay, I watched the announcement trailer on IGN, and holy cow, it was freaking unsettling and creepy.

I'm one of those few people who didn't play Aliens:Colonial Marines, because so many people on the internet hated it. But I'm a fan of survival horror games (I absolutely loved Dead Space), and I'm really pleased that this game is re-creating the atmosphere of Alien, one of the scariest films ever made.

So, I am going to hope that this will be good, and not terrible. It already has given me a good first impression.

Yes it is, but it was originally used in the trailer for Alien.

@abendlaender: Well it's not made by gearbox (not that they really even made A:CM as much as they pretended while stealing money), and it's following alien rather than aliens by playing like amnesia instead of a shooter and just having one xenomorph.

So on paper it's already a million times more the alien game I've always wanted.

Gah, I hope this is good. I just want a game that makes the Aliens actually scary instead of just another enemy to mow down. Fits in with my opinion that Alien > Aliens.

This looks like a potentially good game, but I wish it wasn't licensed. I think the Alien franchise is played out. It's harder to be afraid of a mysterious beast if everyone already knows what it is. I would prefer a game inspired by, but not based on, Alien. But I suppose that a licensed game is guaranteed to sell more than a new title would, though it makes me far less likely to play it myself.

I'm curious to see how scary they can make the game when the big bad is so well known. The xenomorph is quite scary the first time you see it in Alien, but even casual sci-fi fans have the creature memorized by now.

If you think this game is going to be good, you're part of the problem.

To borrow Jeff's words, yeah, it's gonna be a great movie game!
