OK, Alien: Isolation Looks Terrifying

Not expecting much from this, but it did kind of make me want an Aliens vs. Predators: Total War game, even if it sounds like a completely terrible idea.

A strategy developer making an atmospheric FPS based on the Aliens franchise; what could go wrong?

If this actually turns out to be even mildly okay, this will easily take the cake as biggest surprise EVER.

If I remember correctly, Ash, the android played by Ian Holm in Alien, was instructed by Weyland-Yutani to retrieve the alien at any cost. Seems pretty eviiiil to me.

IGN played it and really liked it, though that can change in the end. Please be good!

When was the last time there was a good game based on this license? The last one I can think of is AvP2, and that was released over a decade ago. Not holding out much hope of this being any better.

I just hope we don't get Gearboxed on this one.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it may be terrible. I'm more curious about how intelligent the audio design will be. I mean if I walk by that window looking straight down at the ground will she still gasp in terror like an idiot? I sincerely doubt something like this could replace Dead Space as my favorite Alien(s) homage in a video game. You know, a series of games that doesn't even use this license.

Plus Burke would totally lie to her to get her to go on the mission.

Burke is responsible for ordering the Colonists to explore the derelict alien ship without any kind of preparation for what they were in for and also released face hungers on Ellen and Newt so when they were in stasis the embryos could get past military quarantine and into the hands of Weyland-Yutani.

Guys, it looks like they've decided to take the next Dead Space back to it's roots!

I have always wanted a horror game about being stranded alone (for real alone) in a space ship with a horrific monster you can't fight.

I want to get excited but I will not "care" about this game until it is released and I have seen and read reviews.

Atmospheric first person horror games are becoming an annoying cliche, but this... I want this to be good so, so bad. Please. It's rare if not non-existent in this day and age that a movie-licensed game is designed around a fitting concept to the source material, and this actually looks like one of them. The fact that it's titled 'Alien' not 'Aliens' rubs me the right way. Isolation is going to need a lot of good press to win back the hearts and minds of everyone who was crushed by Colonial Marines last year.

More space horror, taken from the greatest space horror of all.. Sounds good to me.

They've been working on it for over 3 years, but Creative Assembly is unproven in this genre (from what I'm aware of). Still, Im like 15 seconds into this trailer and already hyped. Please dont be lying shitsacks like gearbox CA, PLEASE

EDIT: watched the whole thing and now I am hyped to THE EXTREME. please dont be bad, please dont be bad, please dont be bad. Also, Now Im going to go watch my alien Blu ray and revel in its greatness.

EDIT 2: Ign has a more indepth look at the game on their site. Anyone who is interested in this should check it out. It has a long gameplay demo with commentary and interviews with people working on the game (they are saying all of the right things... Damn I hope this is good)

Non-combat horror seems like the perfect fit for this license.

I would have loved to have seen the Obsidian RPG. That probably would have been a hot mess technically, but probably would have had the atmosphere. Plus being able to tank an Alien because I'm level 40 would have been fun.

creative assembly? Aren't they the dudes who make the total war games? Besides the fact that this is another alien game, the fact that they dont normally make first person survival horror games makes me more wary.

Great atmosphere already, all you need to do now is nail everything else. No pressure.

Well, you know that every protagonist of every Creed game has to survive at least through the end of the story that the person in the Animus can experience, since their genetic memories end when they conceive the offspring that is next in line.

Anyway, as far as Ripley's daughter goes, it stands to reason that if the Company is responsible for her death by the end of this game's events, they'd have no problem covering it up later on.

Sounds a lot like that Miasmata game with the monster that had AI that made it actively stalk you, except the monster won't turn out to be really silly looking. It was actually pretty effective until you saw the beast and chuckled as it took about 5 minutes to wear your health down.

This looks amazing. I have no problem getting my hopes up. I'd rather be optimistic and disappointed than jaded about everything all of the time.

Unless a Burke-like bureaucrat at Weyland-Yutani was the one that sent Amanda out to recover a new Xenomorph specimen. Burke may have lied to Ripley because he knew that if she knew the truth about his true intention for going back to LV-426, she would not have cooperated.

It NOT being Gearbox is already a step in the right direction.

Trailer shows well, looks like the CA guys get it (1st person survival horror with one alien is the way it should be). Too bad the chances of it actually being any good are slim to none.

Then again... it could be some mind blowing surprise like Arkham Asylum.

It isn't made by gearbox, so my hopes are a bit up.

Crazy how many people don't know the crucial difference between Alien and Aliens. Alien is a awesome horror movie, Aliens is an awesome action movie.

Creative Assembly is an interesting choice of developer on Sega's part. It's cool to see a developer stretching out into different genres other than their strong suit. There's a lot of potential for innovation when working from a fresh perspective like that.

Hopefully it works out better than when they tried their hand at an action game.
