Call me a hater, but I kind of hate how Ryan builds his course. It's mostly unaesthetic an ineffective.
But I can't play all games by myself :)

I love that they got to chat with Sid Meier and that they talked to him about SimGolf rather than Civilization or XCOM. That kind of thing is why I love Giant Bomb.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'll take the bait anyways. Firaxis is the developer of this game, XCOM, Civilization and the other Sid Meier games.

I'm just poking fun at how he pronounces Firaxis.

It's all coming back. This game is amazing, but I'm pretty sure the copy I had was broken :/ I don't think it ever saved my games, and yet I still managed to play the shit out of it.

I used to just invite the best players over to my course and then edit the courses holes midshot so their balls landed in hazards every time.

Oh the fun times~

Remember, it may be possible to get this released on GOG by voting for it in their Community Wishlist: http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/sid_meiers_sim_golf - as Sid Meier said in the Interview, EA owns the franchise, so there are no legal issues making it hard to re-release, they probably just need to be shown there's a demand for it (as with Populous and Syndicate, which they re-released on GOG last year).

Thanks for posting the vote link-- we should all vote. I never did get to this back in the day but would love the opportunity to play it (digitally) today.

I don't know about that Jailbait Pro guy...

He was a big hit in the live chat. The crew didn't seem to pick up on him though. Between Jailbait Pro and Hooker Hacker, I was left thinking that Ryan must have situated his golf course close to a poorly secured prison.

It's pretty amazing how the votes have doubled since the stream - at the start of it (yeah, I posted the link in the chat) the number of votes was in the 370-380 range, now it's 702, and shows up as the second most voted game of the week (second only to System Shock 2).

I remember playing this game quite a bit back in the day. It was good fun but not quite as deep as say Civ or Alpha Centauri, if I recall correctly.

Still, I'd pay $10-15 for a steam or gog version. $40-50 for SimGolf2 or CivGolf or XGOLF :)
