At least one of the puzzles requires manipulation of the Ipad in a way that cannot be done on a PC. But I guess most puzzles will work just fine, although some of the tactile feedback will be lost I fear.

They're kind of like those Windows Phones everyone's always talking about.

You jest, but Android is probably way bigger than you might think. I got a Nexus 7 tablet during a sale at Verizon and I'll probably never look back because this thing is so fantastic.

Doing a little googling revealed to me that Android is actually way bigger than I thought it was. Makes me realize how many of my friends and coworkers have android devices instead of ios devices. http://techland.time.com/2013/04/16/ios-vs-android/

regardless, super excited for The Room coming to new platforms, if only so more people can experience it.

I really tried hard to like this game and didn't make it, unfortunately. I do respect what it does, on the other hand.

@patrickklepekI would much rather have seen "One of mobile's best games, The Room, is coming to PC July 28th" as a headline

Really don't understand how this game could be played on the PC. It's a very tactile game that uses the touch screen to full advantage. Can't really see how it could be emulated properly on a mouse...

Oh well. I guess if the developers can sell thousands more copies of this great game, that's a good enough reason to port it.

I finished both games on my Android phone and loved them. So I would totally buy both again for PC just to support fireproof games.

I finished the first one on my phone and am working on the second one, selecting things in the second one seems to be more troublesome because of the tiny screen.

@ravelle: I found that the "multiple puzzles in one room that all interacted together" was a bigger problem for me. Just got annoying to deal with, especially if you put the game down and came back to it a few days later mid-puzzle.

It's the Apple conspicuous consumption effect. Because one of the points of an Apple device is paying double the price for something with a shinier cover then people who are attracted to them also want to show them off. The value includes showing people you own them. So you get far more Windows laptops sold than Apple models but ask anyone about their local SF coffee shop and nothing but MacBooks. Same thing with iOS, tiny in sales volume compared to the dominant player (Android) but far more likely to be used as a sign of conspicuous consumption so they are the most visible products out there and people, when asked, will say that they are surely the most popular option because of how often they see them.

Apple can clearly charge that premium for their products and generate evangelists so they're doing something right, but perceptions and reality diverge quite significantly from this impression of iOS as a dominant platform.

As to the game, I enjoyed it (on Android, via a Humble Bundle because I don't have to ask Apple's permission before paying someone for software - I can buy direct and not pay Apple 30% of all transactions on my device; I'm not effectively renting my mobile platform) but also think it'll lose something going to PC (still not a lot of touchscreen PCs around). If this isn't the first step in a VR version of the game with redesigned input then it would seem really odd to completely remaster the assets.

The puzzles themselves were fine with the touchscreen size, it was mostly grabbing an item from the left sidebar, your finger covers the entire item so you don't exactly see where you're placing it.

And yeah, those rooms in Two were packed with puzzles.

Honestly, this game worked really decently on an iPhone because of multi-touch and swiping (there was a great article about how it's the 'perfect' iPad game, maybe from a Worth Reading?), but I wonder how it will do on PC with just a mouse.

Also, The Room 2 was kinda tedious and really made the fact that it's just a glorified hidden object game waaaay more blatant.

Not that I agree with the headline @patrickklepek chose to use, but I actually have only ever played The Room on an IPad, and wasn't really aware of it coming to Android. That's cool, though. Not sure if I'll pick it up on PC. Never finished the original, and I feel like mouse control might not be as smooth. Sorta like when 10,000,000 came to Steam.

All this time I've been waiting for it to come from Windows Phone, and suddenly they bring it to PC. Great surprise to wake up to this morning, I'm just so happy I can finally play this goddamn game.

Also I don't see how the mouse controls will be a problem. From what I've seen of the game, it'll play just fine.

If you've ever fantasized about opening up the puzzle box from Hellraiser

WHO FANTASIZES ABOUT THAT? YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SCREW WITH THE LEMARCHAND CONFIGURATION AND IT IS NOT SUNSHINE AND PUPPIES.

No really, that's my biggest problem with puzzle boxes. I can't even own a fake toy version of the damn thing. I just do not want any of that shit anywhere near me on the (entirely impossible) chance that solving it would summon those ungodly things.

Just. Gah.

Ehhhh... the appeal for me is in the touch interface.

Also, why is there no Lament Configuration app? The chains flying out of the tablet and ripping you apart followed by an eternity of inconceivable torture might be a bit tough to program, but the rest would be doable.

Someone who works in the Android field may find it personally insulting that a journalist (with a position of power, to influence readers) has reduced everything they've done to nothing.

I remember awhile back Patrick tweeted out, "<Game> is finally out on iOS," and I was really bummed that it was another game that hadn't hit Android the same day and date as iOS even though it was supposed to. Then I scrolled down my timeline and saw a dozen people saying "<Game> is now out on iOS and Android." I think he's just bad at this sort of thing.

Seeing as this was made in the Unity engine, I wonder why it took them so long to port it... For the most part, I imagine the only things they would have had to change are minor and related to control input.
