Giant Bombcast 05/05/2015
$35 for new and current members!
Mortal Kombat X moves forward with a snappier version of the previous game's fighting and some cool new characters, but the story and other features around the edges feel a bit rough in spots.
The ways that Axiom Verge resembles Metroid help set up and drive home the ways that Axiom Verge is most definitely not Metroid.
Hotline Miami's thrillingly brutal gameplay is stretched to the point of breaking in this aesthetically pleasing, but otherwise disappointing sequel.

Okay, sure, but where's Jak X and Daxter's lone adventure?
Needs cart game.
Great, I guess.
A new HD remake everyday! Where will it end? :p
Seriously. This is an incomplete package.
1. I hope they do some stuff with the camera. I remember not liking the camera in 2 and 3.
2. Hopefully this is a precursor (see what I did thar?) to Jak 4 on the PS3.
3. Super Saiyan Jak is back.
I love Jak 3, so much.
This is the only HD collection i've wanted. I've been waiting for this to be announced since the GoW collection was revealed.
Yay, I love this series.
Need to watch this trailer on an HDTV, but I am not sure how good it looks.
Jak & Daxter: the Precursor Legacy was one of my favorite PS2 games, hated Jak II, & Jak 3 was ok.
By the way, people need to stop calling them remakes because they aren't. They are uprezings of the original games. I like the term Remasterings.
That is a serious question, given the addition of Peace Walker in the MGS HD collection. Hopefully, they include all the games for the inevitable R&C collection. Yes, I mean the two PSP games, as well.
P.S. Also, what about that PSP game that has a bunch of airplanes and Dark Daxter, which (in that universe) doesn't make much sense?
Really looking forward to playing these again, they were probably my favourite games when I was younger.
1080p or dont care.
Never actually played these, maybe I will grab this.
@Rxanadu: @Goldanas: Maybe there will be a Jak & Daxter Collection 2 containing Jak X, Daxter, & Lost Frontier.
I effin' loved these games, Jak 1 was the first game I ever did everything on in a game.
While I'm glad they're making this, I really hope that Sony don't release a Ratchet & Clank collection. The only thing that would show is how similiar those three (not counting Gridlocked or whatever it was called) games were.
Wouldn't it be funny if devs intentionally made games sub hd this gen so they could sell them to people again next gen as HD Remakes? I mean these HD remakes seem to be popular.
Sold for Jak 1 alone. I remember enjoying 2 a bit but sadly my (fifth?) ps2 had died by the point Jak 3 came along.
I guess I'm gonna kill Baron Praxis all over again.
I guess Uncarted is on hold then.
I am pretty sure that Jak X and the Daxter stand alone games werent made by naughty dog?
This is the least surprised I've been of an announcement this year.
@abdo: Typically they only do 3 games in a new IP per generation. They also never said that plans for Uncharted 4 were in the works.
Seriously? we're talking about hyper stylized games designed specifically for SD resolutions. What would be the point in seeing the super blury low res textures that much clearer?
@SuperSambo: So, I hear people say things similar to that, and I always have to ask: What conditions did you keep your PS2 in? Was it on the floor a lot? Do you have smokers in the house?
I'm always confused by things like that, as I have a day 1 launch PS2 that is still kicking without any issues, and I didn't do anything special besides make sure it was in an entertainment center off the floor so no animal dander could get in it.
Giantbomb is a videogame wiki.
Jak X was made by Naughty dog, Daxter by Ready At Dawn.
@NMC2008: 1080p @ 60fps remakes on next gen
Yeah, despite R&C 1 blowing my mind, the subsequent entries in the series were just retreads with new gadgets and the occasional novel idea.

It was on top of a tv stand always with no smokers near it.
It is very similar to the 360, some don't break but many do.
I'd think Jak's "flat" and colorful art-style would look amazing in 1080p running 60 fps....But then again 720p is good enough. Never played Jak 3..Might have to pick this up come February.
@RockmanBionics: yes Giant Bomb is, and you are an insufferable ass. Now that's been cleared up Jak X was a vehicle combat racer so I am pretty sure that's another reason why its not in an HD collection for $40.
If you have a PS3 and don't get these, then you are fuckin' nuts.
They're insanely fun. OK, they're not without problems, but how many great games aren't?
Or a PS2, if you want to go the cheap route and play in old AV or sort-of component.
Finally, where the hell is the Ratchet and Clank collection? These new ones aren't as good and I want the first four (and, maybe, the PSP one as a side mission)
I need this...
I'm somewhat surprised that Jak X: Combat Racing, Daxter and Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier didn't make the cut, though I guess that would be asking too much.
I will go on record and say that I love Jak 3. It is some of the best 5 hours I have ever spent with a game. Its short but you are constantly doing something new and it has a really amazing sequence where you are platforming with a jumping car.
I actually don't mind this remake. I love this series.
Goddamnit. Why couldn't they include Jak X? Was it too much to ask?
I don't really care about the part where you're discussing any of the content included in the collection or any justification for what should or shouldn't be there, I was just setting facts straight.
I apologize for the snark in my comment though, it was ill thought out and unnecessary.
I think these HD remakes are pretty disgusting. That said, I'm getting this.
I think I only played one Jak game when my brother got a PS2 Slim and it was bundled but it was pretty fun. Not fun enough to go back to the old era platforming though.
i liked jak 1 a lot..... never played the next 2
I want Daxter in the collection! All I want is the 1st game and Daxter. None of the others did anything for me.
Fuck why not come to 360
Ok, I can see myself getting this, if only for Jak 1 alone. Jak 2 was good enough, but I didn't like the look of it as much with the city and weapons, felt like it lost a lot of the charm the first one had. Never played the third game though.
God damn. Jak & Daxter is easily my favorite game series last gen - cannot wait to play this again on PS3.

This is bullshit. The first three Ratchet and Clank games were the best. Putting them all in one collection would only show how talented Insomniac was at creating fresh weapon designs and keeping the story funny.Go back and replay them, those games stand apart from each other very well.
