That was a really fun interview. I like when developers talk about other games they love and not just try to sell their own.

Demon's Souls ain't that rough.  The lack of tutorials sucks, but what can you do.

Erik seems like a pretty cool guy, taking the time to talk so much about a completly different game that has nothing to do with valve in any way shape or form. It seems like he genuinely enjoys gaming as a hobby and not just his source of money.

Love that Valve isn't held down by PR who wants you to always "stay on message". Now only if they could ship episode 3.

Can barely wait for this game, probably the game I'm looking forward to the most together with L.A. Noire.

It is soooo crazy that people are still talking about Demon's Souls this passionately. I can't believe no one other than Vinny took that as a clue to muster through it. Being a huuuge fan of the game myself, I cannot wait for Dark Souls either. It's just absurd how popular the first game still is.

Huh. This made me want to play Dark Souls more than Portal 2.

Are there any of the early game spoilers in this?

Considering all the pre-release hype that's been surrounding Mortal Kombat for awhile now it probably has a better shot at taking on Portal than SOCOM. Major sites like IGN and Gamepot, neither of whom have ever cared much about MK in the past, are doing some pretty extensive and positive coverage of that game. "

Oh, I've had Portal 2 pre-ordered for a while.

Man, I never did get a chance to finish Demon's Souls. I was playing it on a friend's PS3, but he moved away. That game was rad.

love this interview  Erick wasnt a total robot who only cares about product advertisement and isnt afraid to say something positive about other games.  thats pretty cool.

I love interviews where the developers don't seem to be spoon fed by some PR person and can just talk about anything, like that awesome Demon's Souls tangent.

They've been releasing free updates to Team Fortress 2 for over three years now, and Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2 have also received plenty of free new modes, levels, etc. The only time Valve's ever charged for stuff was on Xbox 360, when Microsoft basically forced them to. But with Portal 2 having Steam on PS3, any updates to that are likely to be free. And PC-updates will be free, too.   Sure, day 1 DLC is stupid, sometimes. But don't go shouting that everywhere, because if there's one developer doing it right, it's Valve. "
