I love me some CS

Game is too different for my taste, and the "you play with people on your skill level" means nothing, just like in SC2's far more advanced skill level system it still pits you against people far better than you.

If it's a XBLA/PSN game for 10-15 i would probably pick it up for PS3 to use keyboard/mouse but this game just looks like rubbish to me.

Man, Gary really has lost a lot of weight.

I'm a CS1.6 player that never got into CS:S. This looks pretty cool however because of several reasons 
 

• When CS:S came out I was still playing 1.6 and had no reason to switch to a game that wasn't better imo. Now I'm not playing any CS. BF3 and MW3 feel too "casual" and I like a little "competitive" gaming now and then.
• Valve is smarter. CS:S just feels like a CS port with some twists.  CS:GO feels like they are putting some thought behind the changes they are making. What I am trying to say is that I think they are more aware of what impact a change will have.
• I've heard people saying Valve will invite 1.6 players to give feedback. Hopefully, Valve will do this and listen.

Defiantly getting this for PS3. I can play against my PC friends and still use mouse and keyboard. Also Brad continues to remind me that he is the best interviewer at Giantbomb.

im still in to de_dust you dont have to get me back in. Day 1 i bet on some servers console players wont be able to get on.

what they need is a counter strike where they can start screwing with the formula. add Iron Sights, add Respawns ect ect. i was kind of hoping the CSS beta would do something like that, but not so much.

I like the fact that they are adding some new features but are keeping the gameplay very classic CS.

is it just me or does the guy he's interviewing look either kind of buzzed or really tired. I'm thinking buzzed but that's just the negative side of me speaking haha

I heard they are removing the server browser entirely and using TweetDeck to create matches.

The number one thing they can do to improve CS:S is to remove the need to bind a million things in a cfg file, especially buys. Provide CoD-style loadouts to configure in advance and choose from (if you have the cash, with cascading fallback options for each item of configuration).

@jay35: I've always enjoyed flying through the buy menu at a maddening speed to equip myself. In about two seconds you have all you need. Primary weapon, ammo, multiple grenades, armor and whatever else you might want.

I love CS. It's the closest I've ever been to an addiction with a video game. Watching this video makes me want to go play 1.6 again. I have nothing against CSS, I just think 1.6 feels better plus it's got that excellent nostalgia value for me. It'll be interesting to see if GO rekindles the CS fire inside me.

Also, I'm all for the cross platform play, like he said. It doesn't matter what you're using (as long as they don't hinder or assist any of the control types), if you're good you're good. Very cool that they're supporting keyboard and mouse on the PS3 too.

Think about it this way.  If you really are a hot-shot CS player who would dominate any controller user, then you wont ever be matched with any controller user, you wont ever see them, and it wont ever be a problem.

Having played this, I can say:

This is a counterstrike-ass counterstrike game. I don't know if I'll switch from Source but it was nice to see even if this was with a controller.

Secondly, fuck playing this game with a controller, seriously. Even though I went absolutely perfect (most kills, no deaths) the control scheme is seriously fucked on consoles. I understand they did their best but there is just no way a controller is going to match a kb/m.

Finally, I don't know who this is going to bring in from MW3/BF3 crowd. They are going to complain about the difficulty, learning curve, and no ADS or attachments or killstreaks. Which IMO is a godsend, I don't want those people getting up in my CS. Also the general public is going to suck really hard at this for a while. So many good CS players out there, that even with a controller I was able to dominate. And I'm no CAL player by any means.

Looking forward to the beta but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Brad, you ask really good questions.  I like that Chet just answers everything straight.  It's Valve.  That's what they do.  They're honest and to the point.  Except when they're being sneaky.

for heavens sake ... I am as PC focused as it gets, but people like you make me feel ashamed of our platform. If the matchmaking works you won't even see any console players ... if not and you are as good as you seem to think you are you will get some easy kills.
