Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Allowed a Fall US/EU Release

Too bad it's digital only. I was gonna give this series a shot. I don't want to own it forever and ever though, nor do I want to lose it because my 3DS broke.

I wish every game was digital only.

Glad this is coming out soon, but I'm a little disappointed in it being a digital only release. Hopefully it'll be successful enough that they continue to release this series in other territories. I'm still eagerly awaiting the iOS remakes of the first 3 games. Yo, Capcom, let me give you my money.

I'm already throwing money at my 3DS.

The (relatively) quick announcement of this game coming out here has me scared for Layton vs Wright. Hopefully that will be one of Nintendo's reveals at their next Nintendo Direct (especially since the last Layton game isn't coming out this year in North America).

If this turns out to be a full fledged new entry in the series i'll start looking for a cheap 3DS as it's the only game i want for it right now.

I buy most of the stuff from the Eshop, except for the Atlus stuff, because they always come with physical crap, and sometimes things I know Im going to fly through, or play only once. because I dont want it to clog up my blocks.

I didn't even know about this and an EU release date! Please don't get delayed like p4 arena and scribble naughts did in the EU :(

Well... I can't avoid the 3DS any longer.

While I would definitely prefer a psychical copy, I'm not going to complain about this. I'm honestly surprised that they brought it over at all. Now I just need to go upgrade the storage on my 3DS before it this comes out...

@jollus: Enjoy losing all your games when your 3DS breaks as they're tied to the system and not an account. I don't understand why anyone does this besides the fact that they're misinformed or just not informed at all. I mean it's up to you to throw your money away without any way of knowing you'll have that game in the future for whatever reason (theft or malfunction).

Sadly with how dumb Nintendo is they'll look at any sort of bad sales from digital only as a way of their consumers saying they hate a game and not they hate the way that Nintendo sells their games. Dumb dumb dumb company.

The fact that it's digital-only means there was a debate over bringing it over at all. I'm just glad they managed to reach a compromise that gets the game to us intact.

I'm buying a 3DS for this.

I actually do love the digital route on Vita. The majority of my games on Vita are digital, whether it's Vita games, PS1 games, mobile games or minis. The Vita is an excellent system to own a digital library for, a 32gb memory card is almost a must-buy for it.

The PSN actually has some measure of freedom when it comes to its digital games, though and I'm much more comfortable giving away the advantages physical copies have for digital convenience. (It's funny, though, I wouldn't dream of doing this on home consoles)

Nintendo's e-shop and treatment of digital rights is horrendous, and while this doesn't bother me quite as much for smaller games like Harmoknight or Minis on the Move I'd much prefer to own Ace Attorney on a cart in spite of the inconvenience because I know I'll easily be able to play it on multiple systems. (side note: I also don't own a large SD card)

I understand Capcom's decision, but I'm extremely disappointed.

Ten bucks says Phoenix Wright will be "killed off" after the first case Solid Snake style and will be replaced by a younger, blonder attorney and assisted by Phoenix who's hiding behind an alias.

This is one of the few games that makes me wish I could justify buying a portable console.

I own all the Ace Attorney games that were released for NDS, and the first Ace Attorney game remains one of my favorite games on that system. I'm a huge fan of the series, despite not finishing Investigations, so I couldn't be more excited about this.

Though I don't have any method of purchasing digital content as of now, you'll be sure I'll get it by the time this comes out. TAKE THAT!

Other then Professor Layton, this was my favorite game series on the NDS. But hell if I'll ever buy a digital release from Nintendo...

Hell yeah, I'll buy this, day freaking one. AA is amazing and if this is the only way we'll get them I'm fine. As much as I will miss having a small useless cartridge that I have to take everywhere when I want to play the ga..oh wait I wont miss that at all

I am extremely excited about this, but....I don't like his voice AT ALL! That isn't how Phoenix Wright sounds....

I'm not surprised that Ace Attorney 5 is being localized since Capcom's PR Manager, Brian Keltner, stated way back in September 2012 that the company was going to release it in the West. I am surprised though that the game will be released this year and that Capcom seems to have little confidence in the title despite the good sales of the previous mainline Ace Attorney games and similar games on the 3DS such as VLR. Capcom seems to be having unrealistic expectation for their smaller games if people within the company need to give their CEOs "high sales forecasts" just to get a digital release of a title. I'm happy AA5 is coming out in English, no matter what the form, but Capcom's overly-caution attitude about the title makes me worried.

Does anyone know whatever happened to the iOS/Android release of the Phoenix Wright HD Trilogy? Last I heard it was supposed to come out in "Early 2013". Would love to play back through these and my DS is R.I.P.

I really hope this does well enough for them to bring over any future installments in the series. One of my favorite game series of all time. Cannot wait for this Fall!

Digital only is better than nothing at all.

I'd have gotten it digitally anyway. I like carts fine, and I like buying used for games without a whole lot of replay value. But the 3DS used market where I am is dismal compared to that for 360 and PS3. I could wait 6 months and probably only stand to save 10 bucks, if I even found it on a shelf.

This looks Wright up my alley. :)

This might be the final push for me to get a 3DS...

Digital only is a shame but I'm definitely still getting this.
