The art style super heavily reminds me of BG2. Which is exactly the point. And it's awesome!

I will defend pre-rendered background to the end of my days. Those will outlast all the pixels you can cram into an environment on any current technology.

I'm very excited; this feels like a game I've been waiting on for over a decade.

It's beautiful...

This trailer is hitting every nostalgia button I have. Everything looks like I remember (which is definitely not how those games actually looked -- I played BG2 last year), and it has that "living painting" feel that I loved so much about the Infinity Engine games. The little details like the moving trees in the still landscape and such are amazing. If the whole game delivers on this I will be in heaven.

This looks really good. Music is phenomenal. Glad I gave them money.

If there's one studio I want in charge of making a game that is like Baldur's Gate, it's Obsidian, which I understand @rorie worked at once.
Also, this looks exactly like I'd want it to look, so consider my enthusiasm for giving them money to be justified.

The bell at the beginning made me think Aerodynamic was about to start.

Looking forward to what they do with the companions. Skyrim neatly emphasised just how right they'd gotten it with New Vegas.

The animations could be a little bit better but I don't care. This looks so god damn great.

Curious what Black Isle er Obsidian can do unhinged to an established universe. Im glad they're making this but that just tells me I won't get to play the good Fallout till like 2016 or something at earliest which is sort of a bummer.

I would hate to be the guy that has to build never ending pillars.

Looks great, just sad this is not based on D&D The Forgotten Realms. I don't much care for new original worlds as much as the ones that have been expanded upon since forever. Dragon Age proved that to me. Great game, just couldn't quite live up to Baldurs Gate and Planescape for me.

@abendlaender: Josh already said that these are only early animations for the alpha and that they will be changed.

Obsidian trips and stumbles a lot on the mechanical aspects of their RPGs, so I'm always a little worried there.. but still very excited to see this.

Obsidian is super busy! Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Torment, AND South Park!

What's the timeline for each? I know South Park comes in March, what about the others?

Wasteland2 and Torment are not Obsidian.

I could go for an isometric party-based RPG with some Obsidian-quality writing.

InExile is actually the ones making Wasteland 2 and Torment. Sure, they have Chris Avellone helping with the writing of both, but Pillars of Eternity is the one Obsidian is actually making. Wasteland 2 is entering beta for backers soon, so that's probably going to come out reasonably soon sometime next year. Torment is supposed to come out sometime next year and Pillars of Eternity... I'm guessing maybe late 2014.

Looks like they're delivering exactly what the backers wanted. I'm optimistic.

Rumor has it, Obsidian will be announcing another Kickstarter in the next few days.
