What are you dicks talking about? These animations look like ass. They got 4 million bucks, and they cant even animate a proper turning animation. Let alone spell-impact.

Obsidian is super busy! Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Torment, AND South Park!

What's the timeline for each? I know South Park comes in March, what about the others?

Wasteland 2 and Torment are being developed by inXile, with Chris Avellone doing some guest writing. South Park is more or less finished, and is just waiting to be released. Pillars of Eternity is actually being worked on by a small team of around 15.

There's no word as to what the rest of Obsidian is working on right now, but rumors say that they're working on a large next-gen title, and also have another Kickstarter project coming up.

Kinda got excited this is like an unofficial Planescape Torment 2.

Actually, Torment: Tides of Numenera would probably be that.

Can't wait for this. Replaying IE games far, far too much is starting to reveal the issues with IE itself and I don't want to sully my feelings on those games. If only it weren't RTwP I'd be a bit happier, but oh well.

Not really that excited for this one. I look at it and I get a distinctive "Another one of those" feeling.

I hope for the fans this lives up to expectations, but as far as Loot/ ActionRPG goes, I'm good.

That's not really what this is though?

It's more so styled from Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn or Icewind Dale II. Sure there's loots to be had, but it's not specifically a loot-driven game.

Wait what. I hope this wont get them in trouble, I'm pretty sure they don't have a D&D license? But I just saw a Magic Missile, Bless AND Minor Globe of Invulnerability!

Consider me interested Obsidian Entertainment, consider me interested.

InExile is actually the ones making Wasteland 2 and Torment. Sure, they have Chris Avellone helping with the writing of both, but Pillars of Eternity is the one Obsidian is actually making. Wasteland 2 is entering beta for backers soon, so that's probably going to come out reasonably soon sometime next year. Torment is supposed to come out sometime next year and Pillars of Eternity... I'm guessing maybe late 2014.

Sorry for confusing them, thanks for the distinction!

No, This is more of an unofficial non D&D Baldur's Gate successor.

The unofficial D&D free Planescape Torment successor would be Torment: Tides of Numenara by InXile which uses Monte Cook's Numeara setting and system (and has some people from Obsidian involved as well as some Black Isle alumni).Numenara is dark fantasy disguised as cosmic post apocalyptic ultra-hi-tech sci-fi. Imagine sort of what the remnant of Iain Bank's "The Culture" or Bungie's Halo Forerunners would look like if their civilization fell and the survivors fell into barbarism thinking that the ancient "damaged" but still (barely) surviving technology was magic. Old AI's become spirits, demons, and gods. A recording of the mind as data becomes undeath or resurrection. Nanomachines become healing spells.

I will defend pre-rendered background to the end of my days. Those will outlast all the pixels you can cram into an environment on any current technology.

Pre-rendered, yes, but they're also dynamic in crazy ways. Animated foliage, 3D water/weather effects, lighting, and shadows, but it's all still 2D art. If you haven't yet, check this out...

Looks like they're delivering exactly what the backers wanted. I'm optimistic.

Rumor has it, Obsidian will be announcing another Kickstarter in the next few days.

"Obisidian are proud to announce a spiritual successor to Matt Rorie's Alpha Protocol!"

I would totally back that Kickstarter.

I believe Torment: Tides of Numenera is the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment that is also being worked on by Chris Avellone. This game may have many traits similar to previous games done by Chris Avellone and George Ziets, such as the aforementioned Planescape: Torment and NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer, but the intention is for it to be a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate.

But hopefully it can have a bit both, eh?

Obsidian trips and stumbles a lot on the mechanical aspects of their RPGs, so I'm always a little worried there.. but still very excited to see this.
