I would love to see something like Alpha Protocol attempted with the 007 license. It'd be perfect in setting up this concept of playing like any of the 007's, and kinda fitting in a Daniel Craig skill set build, or a Sean Connery skill set build, or Pierce Brosnan, etc.

That would be pretty interesting actually. Sir Roger Moore's build could be all about using smarm, persuasion and smutty seduction to get through missions. He'd probably be up for voicing some of it, too, he loves a bit of publicity.

I don't know, as a James Bond fanatic, this'd be cool for like a couple bucks.

No George Lazenby, NO SALE!

Could they possibly make it anymore unlike the original film.

Jeff is right about Bond games. If Obsidian ever gets to a point where their games aren't always kind of messed up I'd like to see them take a stab at it with the lessons they learned from Alpha Protocol. I'd be okay with AP2, but I don't see Sega or anyone else funding that.

Vinny is the voice of the people! when the crew say hey lets stop prematurely. HE SAYS NAY. GG Vindog

There's no watch laser in Call of Duty.

Completely different, yo.

Here is a piece of Bond information that blew my mind. It's not explained in the movies, but it makes PERFECT sense.

Do you know why "James Bond" has been in service since the 1960's? AND why he is often different people on screen? It's because "James Bond" is as much a code name as "007". Different people inherent the name at different times and it passes on to other people when the previous "James Bond" retires. (Just like "M" and "Q"). It also explains why "M" has to develop a new relationship with Daniel Craig's "James Bond" In Casino Royale, especially if it was the same dude that just saved her ass in the previous movie. Plus, Casino Royale is the movie where "James Bond" ranks up to "00" status; he would've had that before, unless it was a different person altogether.

And, if you pay attention, you can see how the previous "James Bond" retires. Timothy Daughton was kicked out for going rogue or something. Pierce Bronsnan's Bond left Mi6 with some girl never to be seen again. (Pay attention to the final scene of each of the actor's last movies)

BOOM.

So uh... if this is Daniel Craig Bond, why is Felix Leiter a white guy instead of Jeffrey Wright?

Posted by xite

Jeff's character at the start is Robert Davi from License to Kill. Probably the most brutal Bond movie.

Man, Jeff mentioning Everything or Nothing makes me feel bad that I've never actually played it. I should really get a copy of it.

The best Bond movie is Moonraker!

Albert R. Broccoli...if that is your real name.

I thought 007: Nightfire had a nice blend of slick spy stuff and good FPS-ing. Also, X-ray vision that sees through men's bodies and women's clothes. Nothin' but skeletons with guns and girls in lingerie - just the way Pierce Brosnan likes it.

I feel Jeff is forgetting about the From Russia with Love game that came out in 2005. That was not a Bond game entirely based on the shooting mechanics from Goldeneye and was a solid 3rd person shooter that had a good balance of stealth, shooting and vehicle combat. Oh and Daniel Craig didn't replace Sean Connery in that one, Connery's Bond is in that game!

As for this game, I can't help but agree. The Bond games need to take a break from the Goldeneye formula and be more focused on stealth or third person gameplay.

QL: The Quest for Vinny's Virtual Gold

Man, whenever I see one of the melee kill animations, I'm always expecting Austin Powers to scream "JUDO CHOP!"

@DarkbeatDK: Roger Moore is the best at nothing. Most girly bond ever. Timothy Dalton is the king, Living Daylights.

Edited by DeviTiffany

I'm a James Bond fan and this IS pretty disgusting. Plus the story line doesn't make any sense since not only is each James Bond a different person but the Daniel Craig James Bond is supposed to be a reboot of the character, effectively making him the first James Bond in this time line. [And the opening shot, where the girl shoots Bond on the train, is from Skyfall so they're obviously using the new time line.] Him having his life flash before his eyes to past missions he's been on makes no fucking sense on multiple levels.

I like Bond. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan but I find this disgusting. It doesn't even fit with the timeline of the Craig films. What where they thinking?

Timothy Dalton fires the biggest guns and straight up shoots more people as Bond. He's the perfect fit for these games.

@YukoAsho: This game is bland, and bad.

I like how the guard asked the guy Jeff shot with a sniper rifle if he was alright. I know there's no realistic damage modeling because it's a T rated game, but come on you'd be able to see that your partner is missing half his face.

Lack of subtitles in a big-budget 2012 game? "No, this game isn't rushed, we swear!"

In the Man With The Golden Gun, Christopher Lee escapes Bond, after watching a sumo wrestling match together, in a flying 1974 AMC Matador and had the midget from Fantasy Island as his henchman. Beat that. :p

As for the game itself. . . way to rape the series. I can point to any part of any level in this and tell you why its wrong. Btw @57:33 is that white dude supposed to be Felix Lighter? Could they not get Jeffery Wright's likeness or something?

Edited by Draxyle

These games that completely ignore the atmosphere and story pacing of the source material in favor of copy and pasted gameplay from other titles are becoming increasingly less forgivable.

Edit: Their version of Fort Knox is laughably large and empty.

In Moonraker they shoot laserguns in space and Jaws gets a girlfriend :D

At least we all agree that Old James Bond is better than New James Bond

Mechanically, the new goldeneye game and this game is "allright" if you take into consideration that it has optional stealth and passages. At least it gives slightly varied options during the story missions compared to that other Activision franchise, but I wish it got the same level of polish.

The actor that Vinny was thinking of at 2 and a half minutes in is Robert Davi. He played a drug lord in "License to Kill." He's probably better known for playing Jake in "The Goonies," and one of the FBI agents in the first Die Hard.

Posted by SuperJoe

Needs less shooting and more womanizing.

Edited by crisping

@TekZero: Less "makes PERFECT SENSE", more "wouldn't it be cool if..." fanboy nonsense. Bond runs off with a woman at the end of every single film.

Also the Roger Moore films were fine, until he got old and probably should have stopped but nope let's keep going and have him make out with Grace Jones God why?

This is so transparently a Bond game in the COD engine. My god.

I spit out my lunch at least twice while watching this QL...bravo bravo!

Posted by The_Nubster

"But 008 will respond if I don't report back!"

"Fine we won't kill you, just knock you out."

. . . So he still didn't respond, right? And how are those dudes inside of Fort Knox if all of the doors are still closed and locked, and the nerve gas was oxygen?

Guys, I'm not sure this game makes sense.

Posted by beard_of_zeus

I thought the comments were exaggerating about this being COD-esque, but man. This game has more gun attachments than gadgets. What is this rushed mess of a game? I mean, they don't even have subtitles, which seems crazy.

I'm with Jeff in that there's so much more to Bond than shooting dudes. The better Bond games seem to understand this with their car chases and gadgets and being totally suave. The best part of something like Alpha Protocol was that it was a spy-ass spy game, and 007 game could learn a lot from that.
