My favorite part of this game is the boring human names all the NPCs get.

It's gonna be a good year

they briefly mention it in the quick look but this isn't the first game from this guy. he also did 3059, 3069, and 3079

Ah yes, the new Midnight Brown album, 3089. I've been looking forward to this.

Ugh, I'm so sick of procedurally-generated worlds. They feel so soulless. :/

Edited by pondwhale

Are the low fidelity graphics supposed to be art direction or are they just bad because its procedural?

So is this the beginning of indie games replicating the PS1 early polygonal look?

Also the "combat music" sounds like something out of Batman Beyond.

Yep. At least they moved on from 2D platformers.

Posted by AMyggen

Kinda cool I guess?

So this is like a 90's game right?

I'm sorry but what kind of robot needs stealth? Especially a robot with 5 guns. You should be rolling in there and just destroying everything.

Babysitter Bloodbath was that. And Bubsy 3D

Procedurally Generated Garbage.

That's the music from Ciess. Must be license-free.

that game looks boring as fuck

Alexander Cunningham is not pleased.

Looks absolutely abysmal. I hope you're happy Kickstarter backers...

Regardless of what else you think about Phr00t's games, the stories are godawful.

Posted by MeatSim

I like loot, I like robots, but I don't think I like anything else about this game.

Hey guys, developer of 3089 here! Thank you for the video, GiantBomb, much appreciated! I'm already putting together another update for 3089 using feedback received (including aesthetic improvements) & the game is still under development. I hope you guys check it out & I appreciate all of the support. Have a good day!

Reminds me a bit of Jumping Flash, which is a good thing

Not three posts down from a message from the (single) developer of this game. Classy!

Eldritch kinda did that too, even tried to approximate the PS1 texture glitches.

Personally I'm kinda into the pre-PS1 VGA/MCGA polygons, when they had just gotten past extremely simple geometry (polygonal games up until 1991 or so usually just had a flat world with squares or pyramids on them), used some interesting shading techniques and relied a lot on gradient effects and colors, but did not use textures a lot yet, my favorite examples of that style are probably DID's Inferno and TFX:

For as bad as this looks, it doesn't look completely terrible. What a weird thing.

Posted by Conrad148

This looked pretty bad to be honest.

This game looks kinda neat; the art-style is kind of growing on me. You guys in the comments section need to stop being so cynical about games you haven't played.

Yeah, it was weird at first I hated it, but by the end of the quick look I didn't mind it so much. The loot and proceduraly generated stuff sounds really cool.

The first thing I did in this game was buy a hoverboard and a grappling hook. That's all I need from this game.

Edited by HatKing

@phr00t: This really looks like something I'll enjoy. Weird in just the right way. Also, robots are rad. I'll check this out as soon as I'm able.

A hoverboard and a grappling hook? I may need to check this out after all.

Oh please. I understand why you would want to stick up for this game. It's an indie title that is very ambitious and tries things that AAA games are often scared to do. But the game looks horrendous, there's no getting past that and I am not talking about the graphics, I am talking about the game as a whole.

Posted by ArbitraryWater

I've decided that I am very much against procedurally generated nonsense as a replacement for actual hand-crafted scenarios.

Banner Saga's finally out -- time to take a look at 3089.

maybe they'll do both???

Yes, and there really isn't much difference between this and 3079. Not worth the moneys.

Posted by xbob42

Game looks very weirdly interesting. Only $7... May pick it up.

Posted by chose

Sometimes retro graphics just look like shit. Sometimes simple design is just lazy design. Sometimes games are just worth nothing. This game is absolutely just all that.

If it's anything like 3079, it looks like poop but is actually pretty fun.

Posted by Hawkerace

It's less then some sandwiches, and seems like a decent time. I'll buy it when its turbo on sale on steam.

Gives me a Deus Ex feel.

STICK WITH THE PROD.

Robot don't need feet.

This game seems pretty cool. and that gun is definitely a modded FN SCAR rifle.
