I keep looking at this in Steam and every part of me is fighting to say 'yes' and 'no' to the Add to Cart button.

Dirty bird

I've actually been waiting for this. I've heard mixed things.

That girl on the left is either wearing her shirt inside out, or their art department is lazy.

Ryan plays wierd games. Most of the time it pays off.

Posted by oldenglishC

Wait a minute, Curtis isn't a girls name.

Posted by ervonymous

Shitty VN/dating sim music is the best, and this is definitely Japanese. Localized by Nyu Media.

Posted by SirOptimusPrime

I disagree with Ryan, the funniest part of this game is that it tells you that the game is in a "Talking" state.

Like, what?

Posted by Rirse

Two minutes in and already a bunch of Persona 4 jokes from Vinny.

Yeah, me too. Kinda disappointed :|

The only genuinely funny anime I've ever seen is Azumanga Diaoh. That show had some balls to the wall comedy genius.

If you can handle squeaky Japanese schoolgirls, there's a LOT to like in it.

Weeaboo dating sim. Grrrrrreeeeeeeeeaaaaat.

Posted by EquitasInvictus

Wow I didn't think I'd see another visual novel on Steam for a very long time. I wonder why they'd go with this obscure-sounding one over a bunch of larger titles. And was this on Greenlight?

the MC from persona 4 Animation was hilarious

Edited by WulfBane

Regarding the flipping shirt text, I think it would have been a funny knowing nod if one had a shirt with "MAXIMUM" across it so it flipped "MUMIXAM"

(And by "funny", I mean by the standards of the comedy in this game)

Posted by david3cm

Man alive there are some serious parallels to Persona 4 here.

Posted by TehPickle

@Animasta: Oh I haven't seen that. I'll have to investigate... Thanks for the tip! :)

Where's Chie? What is this? Where am I?

I played the demo of this, and like 15 minutes in I finally realized that there IS a run mode. You have to hold down the "confirm" button as you move. Not that it helps the game too much.

You should watch Nichijou

It took shadow monsters and TV bears to make visual novels interesting in my eyes. Taking those elements out isn't going to help your game much.

Should've gone to eat at Aiya!

Nothing says "comedy" like anime.

Edited by DarkbeatDK

I wish I was a kawaii schoolgirl trying to start a comedy club

Vinny Caravella: "Can you go be a cop? Can you study at the cop.... house?"

I fell of my chair

For real. Like, dude! Beyond even the usual trappings of Dating sims. Right down to the font choices they make in this game.
Posted by Hexuality

So. Persona.

Posted by MordeaniisChaos

Man, this looks borderline legal in it's impersonation of Persona 4... Yuck, it's an ugly version of the awesome P4 interface...

Edited by RetroVirus

When do we fuse Personas for comedic results? Also, Vinny alone is funnier than this entire game so far.

Posted by TheRealMoot

Beat this months ago. It's basically just the S-Link system from the Persona games; as a stand alone game. It's also pretty darn hilarious.

Posted by LegendaryChopChop

"IS THAT A BUTT IN THE CORNER? Oh, three."

Vinny is the greatest.

Where's the part where the dude with the glasses shows up and accidentally walks into the girl's hot springs while the chick who needs glasses walks in on him and mistakes him for a friend and asks him if her boobs have gotten any bigger, and then notices something and asks "What's this hard thingy? It keeps getting bigger and bigger..."?

It's also less than 2 hours long and none of the characters are anywhere as interesting as the Persona ones.

Edit: Also, the Americanized translation is fucking awful. Right, this is clearly an American town what with the cherry trees, shinto shrines and weird pseudo-European cafés.

Posted by Sweep

I started watching this video specifically for persona references and, hot damn, it did not disappoint.

Ouran High School Host Club was also pretty funny... though I think that one's supposed to appeal to girls more, BUT GOOD HUMOR IS UNIVERSAL.

Also, to everyone saying this is just like personal, I'm pretty sure that it's the other way around. Persona started taking a lot of cues from dating sims, which is why so many things line up like this.

Posted by LarryDavis

... Is the UI stuff in the upper corners just straight-up ripped from P4?

Not really. Persona 3/4 set their UI to look like ones from dating sims.

Posted by Doctorchimp

I already hate the people I never met who made this game.

Nah man. That font and the UI, the day-to-day structure -- those are really Persona things. The leveling up attrributes to bone ~uguu~ animes and the setting are obviously regular ass dating sim things, but the guys behind this game clearly took inspiration from the S-link system as well.

That Curtis was noooooooooooooooot a dude, no way am I gonna believe that.

Posted by Mezmero

I'm no gonna lie, this game's premise has me intrigued. And not in a creeper Jeff way.
