The vibe I'm getting from this is that Brad didn't own a computer in the 1990s...

Was Chip's Challenge considered hard? I've seen more than a few people comment on the original game's difficulty. Maybe I played a bootleg version of the game (it was on a computer my dad bought from Chinatown), but the Chip's Challenge game I played wasn't hard; it was just your average puzzle game.

(Not a) bummer.

Chip's Challenge was fucking rad. Loved the music.

I can't look at this because of the blur :(.

They turn it off about 8 minutes in.

Oh wait... Chip's Challenge! Now I remember! It was a play on words because you collected computer chips...

WOW, just realized I played a TON of Chip's Challenge as a kid...never knew that's what it was called.

To me this looks nothing like Chip's Challenge.

Ever see "Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead"? If not, you should!

Oh man Chip's Challenge was probably one of the first PC games I ever played. Now to play the dangerous game of seeing if it holds up today.

Posted by Jasoncourt

NOPE, thanks but no thanks, game

Would love an Encyclopedia Bombastica on Chips Challenge. Also:

That's what I was thinking.

Yes

So dude gets drunk on the beach and has hallucinations of a demon pushing blocks?

Edited by seveword

Chip's Challenge! That brings back memories. My young and undeveloped mind only made it up into the 80's or so (out of 150ish levels, I believe) back in the day. It looks different at first but it seems like a lot of the same ideas are still present with block types, enemies and such. Looks like a fun little time waster.

One of things i hate about level creators in console games is having to use a gamepad. It's weird that they force it on you here.

Indeed. I love Little Big Planet, but as someone who created a good number of levels for it, a gamepad is most certainly not the ideal control scheme for such a thing. It's functional, but it's going to take you twice as long to do just about anything.

While we're at it, I'll add Gorillas to the list. Some great memories with those 4 games. :D

Poor Drew. Jeff and Brad didn't know the difference between trying and doing.

Posted by BaconGames

Oh wow, so it totally is related to Chip's Challenge. And here I thought I was too clever for my own good when I made the reference to myself...all alone. For no one to hear but me. Validation!

Those are some terrible greens and yellows for colorblind people. Jesus

The aesthetics and design choices in this game are baffling.

I think I have vague memories of Chip's Challenge. Only Jeff would be more familiar with the Lynx version. I don't even know anyone who owned a Lynx. Hell I don't think I've ever even seen an actual Lynx. I saw some Lynx games in a used game store once and had to think a minute to remember what the hell a Lynx was.

This game seems to be a competent enough block-pushing puzzler, but I'm completely astounded that they thought that tilt-shift effect was a good idea to be on by default.

This is just awful.

I played the shit out of Chip's Challenge when I was a kid. RESPECT.

BUMMER! I hear that wav file in my head to this day.

Posted by shatted

Chips Challenge definitely brings back fond memories. Apropos, did you know that SkiFree is, in fact, free? (And it runs on modern Windows!)

BEWARE THE SNOW MAN.
