Had to stop watching real early on - I was getting truly nauseous, which is something I stopped getting almost entirely after playing so many shooters over the past year or two.

Iloved how Patrick was all serious in the beginning then just gave up and trolled the game up until the end. This boy has a future! hahaha

Is the Conduit a budget title?

Posted by BonOrbitz

Aw man, I had high hopes for this game, especially after how great Goldeneye and Red Steel 2 were....

Posted by danimal_furry

Conduit isn't that bad.

Posted by Quid_Pro_Bono

Halfway through this video I thought I was watching a quick look from 2002.

Who loves Orange Soda?

Posted by WiqidBritt

still completely astonished that no one has tried to rip off Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, that's the perfect style of a shooter for the Wii's control scheme

Posted by superseagull7

What is Master Chief doing on the cover? Fairly strong resemblance...

That said, The Conduit was a decent game that had a laughably bad story. I doubt this one is much different.

It's totally john st john who does the voice in this. Duke Nukem is Michael Ford

Posted by AngerPanda

I work at the Sanrio in Woodfield Mall just five minutes away from High Voltage Studios. I pass them every day on the way to work.

20:24 - i thought I heard a wilhelm scream

Posted by CornBREDX

Awesome quick look. That was hilarious.

BTW, Ford sounds like Duke Nukem because it's John St John (so I've read). Mystery solved Patrick.

Didn't this game come out last month?

Posted by jillsandwich

Hey guys, I know how to avoid all those control problems.

DON'T SHOOT DUDES IN THE FIRST PERSON ON THE WII.

Actually, Capcom more or less tried exactly that a while back with another non-Resident Evil game, but the end result of that wasn't exactly what most people would call a smashing success.

Patrick, shame Sony's gun shell wasn't out when you played through KZ3. It makes the motion controls work very well.

Posted by HerbieBug

was that a non-achievement achievement?  0_o

Posted by dDefinder

The "Why me" death screams reminds of the Perfect Dark 1 guards.

Doesn't just sound like Duke Patrick, that is Duke ;)

I actually like this game!
It's like a really fun "big budget" B-movie. And I do love B-movies.
It may not be some random super popular new installment from some big blockbuster franchise - thanks to advertisements! - but I like it.

And its such a customizable game, from controls to in-game graphics, a very nice touch might I add.

Sadly no $49.99 for this crap

Watched the Star Raiders and Conduit 2 Quick Looks and I now I'm sleepy as hell. Even though I just slept for 10 hours.

Man, these games are bad.

Posted by Matfei90

I must say, as a new addition to the Bomb, Mr. Klepek is a welcome presence on quick looks for me. Unlike a particular other personality we had to deal with last year.

Good stuff.

Posted by Vexxan

The controls really do look just...awful.

Posted by Korwin

Watching this game in motion hurts my eyes.

Posted by Jost1

Holy shit this looks bad

Posted by Xpgamer7

I still liked it. Some of ryan's problem could be solved in the options.

Posted by Dizzyhippos

This looks bad, also its fucking ugly

Posted by Moo

Loved the ending.

Posted by Wonloong

Kinda like how it looks and feels like a N64 game. Could be just me.

Imo the problem is that the pointer is not 1:1 to the movement of where ou are actually pointing, same problem in Golden Eye for Wii. The only game that did it well (AND REALLLY WELL!) was Metroid Prime 3.

Posted by Ronald

Wii FPS games always look like a bad mash up of an FPS and a light gun game.

Posted by baron_calamity

I know this is probably crazy but if this game came out for the pc, I would play it. I wouldn't pay real money for it. Put it on steam for $20 and I would buy it.

This is the first time I've ever gotten nauseous while watching a Quick Look.

If the pointer was 1:1 to your movement, you'd turn left and be looking at the left wall of your living room, instead of the TV.

Ryan's experience with this game in the first 15 mins of this quick look  is the same as I had with the first game. But a Red Steel 2 was awesome on the Wii and it just looked great and not just "for a Wii game"

Posted by kollay

That ocean was more like jell-o.

Posted by altairre

That was great. Laughed my ass off during this quicklook and Ryan/Patrick is an excellent combination. Game is garbage though.

It... froze?

The core problem is that you control both aim and turning with your cursor and the switch from controlling one to the other is always weird, thus you will never get good FPS controls with a Wii. The reason why it wasn't a problem in Metroid was that you didn't control turning while fighting, you would simply lock on to an enemy and turning would be automatic, thus you could focus on aiming. If you try to play Metroid without lock-on it becomes nearly unplayable.

It would be interesting to see how the situation would change with a second analog stick where you could have regualr FPS dual analog controls and still have the Wiimotes ability to shot at any point on the screen, to bad that Nintendo didn't include that.

I think the only way to do a good shooter on the Wii is to simply not try to do a classic FPS, both Metroid lock-on and Resident Evil 4's way where you control turning with your left stick and don't turn much at all when going into shooting mode work well, everything that tries to replicate regular dual-analog on the other side is a failure.

The game certainly doesn't look great, but this Quick Look was super negative from the get-go. They never gave it a chance.

Posted by Skronk61

haha that hard lock was the icing on the shit cake, great job guys.

Posted by wwfundertaker

What a shit game but it made for great entertainment.

Posted by Skillface

I don't think making the player fiddle with the settings for a while in order to make the game playable is good game design.

Posted by targetrender

It looks like crap.  But of course, it's a Wii game so it's to be expected.

Posted by WiqidBritt
@Pepsiman: to be honest, that game was never meant to be a shooter, and the original Dead Rising had it's own set of odd problems that made it tedious even with proper controls
Posted by StingingVelvet

Holy shit the aiming in that looks terrible.  I remember when the Wii came out people acted like it was going to finally kill the mouse as the best way to control FPS games, but nope... didn't happen.  Now I see why.

Posted by dvorak
@GrandMilato: Yeah you're definitely right about that. I went back and looked at some of the old screenshots. It's DEFINITELY better looking than the first one.
Posted by Vigil80

I hate the Wii so much.

What's that? You say the Project Cafe controller will have dual analog sticks? You're damn right it will.
