heres the ending to the game for those who dont care and wanna see what brad didnt care for

(also watch the last 10 seconds if you do watch the ending)

guess i need the context to go along with it, but the ending seems alright, a little bit obvious, but seems alright

Wow I was completely wrong on how Brad would feel about DS3. Maybe it's because he enjoyed DS1&2 so much? I wonder if he'd feel the same way if he'd never played the previous games. DS3 just feels like such a let down from the previous games. Good job in running another franchise into the ground EA!

"we want the mobile gamer audience"

"quad A title"

11+ DLC content on day 0

Story DLC announced on day 0

Couldn't they have just waited a week or 2 to announce this shit?

Maybe, but would it matter?

Would the people who get outraged over that be any less outraged next week?

Brad running through this with his giant rocket launcher of doom was kind of hilarious.

Here's the thing:

Brad hates everything. So I'm not that worried.

In Dead Space the weapon balancing felt very off to me. The Plasma Cutter was the best weapon by miles and ammo spawned mostly only for weapons you actually had on you so you had ammo in droves. The same was true in Dead Space 2 admittedly where the Pulse Rifle became the bane of everything. So I am not really surprised that in DS3 again you have your get to weapon and mostly won't bother to craft outlandish stuff.

@Sonne: Except DMC.

to you people crying about DLC day 1, portal 2 had 70 dollars worth of DLC locked on disc , with a cash shop part of the main menu

I assume "classic" aiming turns off the reticle and brings back the laser pointers. You don't need to unlock classic mode to use that, right?

@Atwa : Not snarking you here, but have you finished the game? What difficulty did you play on?

Posted by gbrading

I really don't know about EA recently. They really seems to have lost it. All of these front loaded Downloadable Content things built into in-game menus is really, really off-putting.

Posted by Lifendz

First enemy Brad encounters and he pulls a Brad. Glad Jeff is with Brad on this QL. Normally Brad just ignores whatever requests the other person makes (e.g. let's see that, go down there) but with Jeff I think Brad will listen.

I find it hilarious you bring up Portal 2, of all the games out there with kind of gross day one DLC. Clutching at straws or do you just hate Valve?

and no, sorry, Portal 2 having downloadable hats doesn't count. It's just an extension of TF2. Nobody cares about cosmetic DLC such as costumes, it's pay for advantage stuff that is gross even more so when it's part of a game that is not free to begin with.

Why should they get money for allowing you to buy a few power nodes or whatever? What effort have they put in to deserve people buying that? It's different for iOS games, most of them are what, $2? Sure give them some money back, but a $60 game? yeah get bent, EA. These are just paid cheat codes and it's a gross reminder of how desperate some are to monetise this industry.

It's even more gross when you realise EA are just spreading the FIFA Ultimate Team pack system across more and more of their games. Battlefield 4 will be the same.

The fact that Brad is running around with 250 potential Rocket Launcher rounds and was just firing off entire clips like it wasn't even a big deal makes me really depressed.

The first two dead space games were the best horror games I've played since RE4, and now they did this.

EA has created their own genre of Generic 3rd Person shooter. I mean DS3, ME3 and even DA2 were just the worst sequels to some of my absolute favourite games.

I honestly had a lot of good faith in EA when they started putting out tons of new IP's and Activision had taken over the big corporate asshole moniker, but I feel now that EA has gone right back to their old ways.

This, so much this! This series has now gone full action, and it's pretty hilarious watching the borderline plant commenters here furiously defending the game. When the gameplay (as it's presented here, with Brad just casually rocketeering the shit out of everything) mostly all reminds you of THAT sequence in Commando, you know you done fucked up.

Keep in mind Brad was playing the QL after he beat the game, hence the totally souped up gear and abundance of rockets. Believe me, it was no thrill for me to watch Brad waste everything with ease, but this vid is not necessarily reflective of the game itself, particularly on higher difficulty levels. No borderline plant commenter am I, whatever the hell that means.

Prediction: Brad gives it 4 stars and people go nuts with hatred of the game and EA in the comments saying it should be at best 3 stars.

On a scale of 1 to "DmC review comments", the comments will reach 7.

I lol'd.

Maybe the necromorphs turn out to be the dickish progenetor race.

You know what, if that actually happened, I'd love it.

Brad pulls a Brad in this? Hopefully they've still at least included those gruesome deaths for Isaac...the second game had plenty of those, but he couldn't die even once in the QL for that!

Going to watch this tomorrow morning. So mixed feelings 'bout this, so I might as well spoiler it for myself partly...

Posted by Krakn3Dfx

I'm still stoked for this regardless. Even Brad said that even though he was kind of let down by it that he wants to keep playing and that the core gameplay is there, shooting the limbs off necros and weapon selection/crafting.

Jumping in tonight to FINISH THE FIGHT!

Oh wait, that's another game...

@Krystal_Sackful: I stand corrected.

I wish more things got shot in this QL

Posted by Deathpooky

Very glad I didn't pre-order this. I might get this if a good deal comes along for $20 or so, but this is not the game I wanted to play at all. A lot of it just feels gross, and then the co-op and story/gameplay look way worse than the previous games. Sorry to see another series ruined.

Pullin a Brad, bringing it back old-school style.

Loved Dead Space 1 & 2, bummed Brad says the story and ending are no good. And, man, I have NO interest at all messing with that crafting nonsense.

Brad: "I'm not that sold on the crafting."

Brad crafts a weapon and uses it.

Brad: "I love the crafting!"

True, but it didn't sound like that was a recent development in his playtime. He said once he found the weapons he liked, he stayed with them through the whole game. Sounds like there was no shortage of ammo.

Got to agree with some of the others here. Seems like EA fumbled another threequel, making a game that's not bad exactly, but not really what folks were hoping for. There must be a sweeter spot between "Let's make great games and change our image," and "Let's make all the monies." I hope they can find it.

Yeah Brad also rates a lot of games 5 Stars in his review too these days so I am not sure what your talking about...

Wrong. Space is technically cold but since its a vacuum, the only way heat is lost is through radiation as opposed to Convection, which happens very slowly. Overheating is a very real possibility if you are jumping around and running in a space suit.

Actually wait, no, the space suits in DS are quite capable of venting excess heat (or at least regulating internal temperature as normal space suits do). As Isaac spends most of his time in warm indoors and not in a vacuum actually. So the standard space suits / armor function quite adequately both in normal temperatures and in the cold.

There really doesn't seem to be any reason for a "warmer" suit for the cold planet, considering the space suits are already insulated and capable enough in keeping him warm in an absolute zero environment.

Hardcore mode is not something I would play for the sake of getting an awesome gameplay thing.

An interesting, dumb novelty reward like that suits me just fine.

Is it just me? But with these newer games I find myself spending more time in customization and crafting menus than playing through the actual game.

Brad and Jeff Quick Looks are kind of endearing. It's like Brad is a hyperactive kid who wants to run around and play with everything he sees to no real purpose, and Jeff is the parent trying to "guide" his kid into doing something constructive, with mixed success.

That said, I prefer QLs that show a coherent slice of the game, while being informative and entertaining.

So.....are you telling me this is the Godfather 3 of Dead Space?

Edited by Dezztroy

Brad, suits are not purely cosmetic. The Archeologist suit for example specifically states that it gives you improved protection from physical damage. Couple of other suits say the same. Unless the game lies, I guess.

Pretty sure it's not true that you drop the rest of the ammo in your magazine on reload.

You can totally sell weapon parts. I sold all the non-elite frames I found, gives you tons of resources.

Posted by ArbitraryWater

I will probably still get this, because the crafting intrigues me and I never thought Dead Space was scarier than a bunch of really cheap jump scares.

Brad uses scavenger bot at 29:41

Scavenger bot has 10 minute timer

Brad quits to menu at 39:40

o.O

Edited by happymeowmeow

If the game itself is good enough all the stupid shit like micro-transactions and unnecessary co-op don't matter. Seems like this has it's high points but not quite there. I don't know. Loved Dead Space 1 and 2. If those were the last great games that this franchise has to offer, I'm fine with it. Don't need a million sequels.

Posted by BBQBram

What a non-event of a franchise. I still have the first one lying around somewhere. Might finish it, but meh.

Posted by mlarrabee

I'm going to guess Hardcore Mode can be bypassed by saving to an external device and removing it before continuing.
