Until Jeff mentioned tearing, I didn't notice it. Then, it was all I could see. It's not your setup, guys. There really is tearing out the ass

If you got tearing out the ass you should really see someone about that.

It's also on Android, as it turns out.

The game journalists were in the Android and iOS versions too. Pretty random to have Jeff Keighley and Mike Shramm in your game.

videos wont play for me here anymore.

I have this on my iPhone and it's an excellent remake which they have added a significant chunk of content to since release. One of the few virtual gamepad iOS games that actually work.

Tip : change the camera to option 2 in the settings. It helped me out a lot.

Not enough killing to racing for my taste

Tex Harris is OP.

I maintain that Brian Crecente's car should be adorned with his luscious locks.

I loved the original when I was a kid. Great choice for a remake! Nostalgia man!

Posted by Baggykins

they left a lot of the cool stuff out, looks like.

Posted by SmilingPig

If its 5-10$, it could be cool.

Posted by bcjohnnie

I am enough of a sucker for the original that I will buy this. Somehow I have great memories of shareware Death Rally, playing until my stats were completely maxed out.

I hate to bring up something like this rather than discuss the game, but is there a reason almost all your PC videos have really bad screen tearing in them? Do you choose not to use V-Sync? Are you using 60Hz when your capture hardware is expecting 60/1.001? (usually selecting 59Hz on the PC should fix that...)

I can't imagine a relatively simple game like this is having performance issues to cause it.

Is it because you have an AMD card in the current system? I've never had any tearing issues with my GTX 570, but then I'm not converting to component video and going through several external devices to capture video.

Death Rally (iOS) is probably one of the top 5 games available for the platform. Love that shit. I didn't play the original, but immediately grabbed it up when I heard it was a Remedy product. One of the best purchases I've made.

BUY IT.

Tyrian is fantastic. A big part of why I love Jamestown is how much like Tyrian it feels.

But man, fucking Jill of the Jungle. I hadn't thought about that game in 15 years and it all came right back. Now I'm obsessed.

If the stage was set and the green flag dropped I might be more interested.

New ROTT, new(ish) Death Rally, Steam popup saying that Telltale's Jake Rodkin was playing Quake 2... I'm reliving the 90s!

Posted by Krakn3Dfx

Heads up, if you buy this on greenmangaming with the code PCGMR-ALLIN-GREEN, it's only $6.37.

I loved Rock and Roll Racing!

Posted by Kosayn

Man. My first one of these was 1989's DeathTrack. Such a bad graphics engine, and if you put your machine on turbo, it ran way too fast. But at the time, it was either that or Stunts. and Stunts didn't have rocket-propelled skateboard bombs attached to the bottom of your car.

Hell yeah. Nice surprise to see this one pop up out of nowhere.

Why is Ryan dissing death rally on name and unoriginal concept?

It was fairly fucking original when they brought out the CONCEPT AND NAME in 96. Which he knows. So who knows what the fuck he is on about.

Every other game in the last 10 years like this has been trying to replicate the awesomeness of the original death rally, so it seems strange to brand a remake of the original as unoriginal.

Posted by Loafsmooch

@Tordah: Yeah totally. Had forgotten about this game until I was like "Quick Look: Death Rally :O Can it be? It can't be THE Death Rally, can it?"

But it totally was. And is.

There's something crazy about this being a PC game originally, and now a phone...port? The world is topsy turvy.

This isn't a Road Runner game? For-get it

I would give this game a try for the right price.

It is. Right now, it's $6.99, down from $9.99. For whatever reason, the Steam Home Page has it listed at 15% off, but the actual game page has it at 30% off. I got it anyway.

That's not Death Rally!

Edited by Sanity

I loved the first one as a kid, was the first pc game that really hooked me.

Didn't even know a new one was around so nice suprise, going to buy it later.

Is it just me or does this seem rather tame for a game bearing the Death Rally name...? Where's the gravelly voices and people turning into blood stains when run over and the horrifying, grating noise of having an opponent unload into your ass and watching your health plummet? I also thought the difficulty system in the original was brilliant and it doesn't look like that's in here, either... Basically, I don't know about this!

Posted by BombBandit

Jill of the fucking Jungle!!! Thats the game ive been trying to figure out the name of that I used to play as a kid on my cousins pc I love you jeff damn

Mashed (Xbox), anyone?

Posted by AssInAss

Oh wow, this looks awesome! Was sold on Barry Wheeler. Bought.

Posted by jediknight00719

I think what i was disappointed the most about is the lack of sound ques they could have used. The beeps when a race starts (the ones where the lights go from red to green). The announcer saying "FINAL LAP, GO FOR IT" and "RACE OVER." And if you picked the Duke Nukem image as your avatar, if you won the race Duke would say "hail to the king baby." It would have been soo easy to put in the game that still keep it a Teen game. I can understand omitting the fact of running over people for ratings aspects.

Death Valley Rally was awesome. And very hard as I remember it but it's been a long time. Thanks for that reminder.

Oh maaaaaaaaaan! That brings back some memories! *Tabs over to Youtube to watch some of the game* Holy sh*****t... you just put me in a hard nostalgia trip. I hadn't thought about this game in about two decades.
