Don Bradman Cricket, winner of Start Screen of the Year, 2014.

This genuinely looks like a pretty competent game

Posted by hollitz

Cricket is the official sport of giantbomb.

I have never laughed so hard, goddamn.

Is it wrong that these quick looks make me want to get REEEEALLLY deep into cricket? (as an AMERICAN!)

Edited by Y2Ken

Definitely love me some Cricket.

This game seems genuinely great (and that's the perspective I've gotten from a couple of friends I know who have been playing it too), so perhaps I'll pick it up. There hasn't been a legitimately top-notch cricket game since the original Brian Lara, a couple of passable ones but nothing special until now. And what a fantastic finish to the game, weirdly close by the end.

And that start screen...

Danny talking shit to Dan is the best thing ever.

That opening, holy shit...

I guess I had to be there guys, lol.

Man, I would've loved to see Danny as a permanent member of Giant Bomb - he brings so much to everything he's part of. Most importantly he feels like he brings something different - mostly through knowledge of non-american things!

I like Dan from what I've seen so far, but he does strike me kind of just an amalgamation of the people that Giant Bomb already had...

Great quick look though - if a little frustrating from the perspective of someone who understands roughly what is supposed to be happening! This also looks like a pretty decent cricket game for anyone that is interested in the sport.

Oh Dan, always playing dirty :)

Don Bradman is Dragonborne, this fall!

I was gonna skip this quicklook since it was cricket, so glad I didn't. jesus so great

Posted by bananaz

One of the best quick looks ever.

Posted by PliggeTheFallen

Yes is all I have to say. I was nonstop laughing the entire way through.

The duck is shown when a batsman is out (the three sticks were hit) without having scored any runs (points). It is known in cricket as "out for a duck."

I'm telling you: Triple Nelson on the scoreboard, bowler on a hatrick and they need 2 runs to win the ODI on the last ball of a so-far maiden over. That's cricket, man. That's cricket.

Yes. Very wrong. But if you can't shake the feeling, ESPN3 has some cricket available. Watch a game with Wikipedia for rules help. It's not tough to figure out.

*slow clap*

That is a Quick Look for the ages.

Posted by Ruckus_inc

the intro to this game is the funniest shit ive EVER seen.

Posted by heavyplay

You don't need a lot of gear to play cricket, you just need a bat and a ball. If you're playing with a real cricket ball, you'll need pads, but most kids just use a tennis ball covered in duct tape. A trash can will do for a wicket.

I don't think I've ever played a full game of cricket, it's just one of those things you mess around with during recess. Everyone takes turns bowling at the 1 batsman. If you get him out, you get to bat. Never bothered with scores.

That Don Bradman ventriloquism was fantastic.

T20 cricket is what you'd want to start with, which lasts around three hours per match rather than over the course of five days and is pretty easy to wrap your head around. The Caribbean Premier League tournament is being covered on ESPN3 and the matches have been pretty entertaining so far, and not only because of the breakdancers that come out during the "Busta™ drinks breaks." Weird fact: For some reason Mark Wahlberg owns an equity stake in the Barbados Tridents.

@jeff Reckon we could see you guys play Super International Cricket on SNES sometime? That is easier to play (and the best cricket game imo) has a few weird idiosyncrasies in it like hitting seagulls.

Donny B here. Boom! What's up?

Amazing QL!

Holy fuck, the intro and ending are some of the best pieces of content on GB.

You don't actually need a lot of gear to play cricket, or at least to play "beach cricket."

All you need is a cricket bat and a tennis ball and some sticks or something to use for wickets. It's just a loose informal way to have some fun.

Cricket sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is, at least at the amateur level.

This is the second greatest cricket QL I have ever seen. The first four and a half minutes were arguably the best part of my week.

Edited by Y2Ken

Dan's desire to be the "bad boy of cricket" set me on a path I couldn't get off until this was done.

So here you are, I guess.

Don Bradman should appear regularly on GB's videos. Either to nod or shake his head when the Bombcrews say something.

If tonight's UPF doesn't look like this, I'm going to be very upset.

Brilliant!

Posted by kerrtoonDotCom

@hollitz: I am casting my vote for cricket as the official GB sport of choice. - Or at least make a T-Shirt with "Giant Bomb Premiere League Cricket" on it!

Edited by marbleCmoney

This is fantastic. Great QL, guys.

I really hope Jeff goes deep into a cricket hole. Would love to have Jeff become some kind of cricket expert for the next cricket game quick look and try to explain the game to everyone else.

Videos like these make me think GB needs a resident Aussie on staff to pop up at times like these.

Posted by Sessh

While cricket remains a boring sport, the QL's about it keep getting better and better. Always fun to have Danny on as a sports expert.

Posted by JAVK

This is blasphemy!

Posted by CashBailey

As an Australian I this should hurt my soul, but I was laughing like a 'tard.

Edited by Bipa

That jump pitcher pitched the cricket ball but the batter was too good and hit a home run with his cricket paddle.

Fact: Don Bradman is actually an Australian icon, and is widely considered to be the greatest cricket player of all time.

Fact: I was laughing so hard, that I was in tears by the end of that video.

:)

Edited by Wogglebeast

As an Australian this was simultaneously amazing and terrifying to watch. Also digital animated player-controlled Don Bradman is freaking me out.

Dan sounds like he's shitting his pants with every swing.

This video is even more hilarious if you know what the actual Don Bradman spoke like. He was a proper right gentleman. The irreverence for him by the guys was hilarious and I say this as an avid cricket fan. On a side note the Don is often considered the best sportsman ever. His stats were twice as good as any other cricketer ever even into the modern day. It is like a basballer averaging .650
