An hour of Dynasty Warriors.

Edited by The_Laughing_Man

Is something up the audio? Jeff's voice sounds off.

Edited by Aegon

This should be...something.

Jesus, an hour? Nice.

Posted by mrfluke

this got a fucking 8.7 from ign, really curious to see this game.

We win!

Quick Looking a Dynasty Warrors game? Jeff's really heading off the deep end now...

Posted by SuperSolidSnake2019

Should I play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 before getting into this one?

Posted by Wampa1

Pretty sure those are the original Xbox XYAB buttons they used on japanese ports like Shenmue II.

Absolutely.

The 360 port suffers from major framerate issues which aren't in the PS3 version. Supposedly it's going to be fixed in a patch.

Every page just says press X laf

the fuck keeps buying these?

Hm... I see. Well, that'll do, I suppose.

I've loved Dynasty Warriors ever since the third. Jim Sterling does a great job of explaining why he likes DW in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDbb6OOSh7o

To put it in my own words, the gameplay is very cathartic and almost meditative in its simplicity, while providing a stiff challenge at higher difficulties (if that's what you want).

I love that everything is getting back to normal but god I hope they fix that fucked up audio soon.

An hour of Jeff and Vinny playing Dynasty Warriors? My body was not ready.

Knowing nothing about this game (and thus everything, because i've seen any dynasty warriors game before), and knowing what I know of IGN, an 8.7 is exactly the score I'd assume.

Check out Jim Sterling's review of DW8 (he's reviewed the majority of them and is a fan of the series), says its the best one yet

The reason why people like the Warriors games? It's the hack & slash equivalent of a really crazy and over the top shmup. Not necessarily a difficult shmup, but one that has alot of stuff going on and you can just chill out and mash some dudes/buttons. In the same way mowing down hoards of defenseless little spaceships coming in from the top/side can be oh so satisfying...

I wonder if in the future there will be video games just like this, but about WWII.

Edited by kollay

Pacific Rim easily beats this.

X Button: The Game.

I love God of War.

Posted by kerse

I haven't played a dynasty warriors game since like 3 or 4, maybe 5 I can't remember. For some reason I kinda really want this.

Posted by xyqxyq

I feel like they're playing Trackmania with all that stuff on the screen.

Edited by lumberingjackal

You can pause the loading screen... cancel next gen.

Edited by xxNBxx

Geesh, are they playing this on a Xbox or a Xbox360? Can't tell from the graphics...

Posted by orderseeker

They still make these?!

They still make these?!

People still buy these?!

Yeah, that's exactly it for me. It's great for when I want to unwind, and there's usually a bunch of stuff to unlock so I'll grind out stages whenever I have a backlog of podcasts to listen to.

The Xbox version has terrible lag issues that Koei has confirmed they are patching. The PS3 version doesn't have those issues.

That split screen was SOMETHING...

Man. This was not the best video to watch after installing a new sound card. Spent ages trying to figure out why the audio was blowing out.

"Just say NO!!"

Edited by buffaloseven

Vinny sitting there yawning while asking Jeff what's going on pretty much sums up my thoughts on DW8. I can see how some people may find it appealing, but man...that's just so repetitively mindless that I couldn't even fathom spending more than $5 on something like this.

Posted by Kazzenn

I'm going to buy it and only partially hate myself afterwards.

Edited by Tortoise

Sounds levels were a bit painful

I agree :-\

sucks they're playing on the busted 360 version tho, dat slowdown is unbearable

Used to really like these games and to answer Jeff's question about why, I think most of the enjoyment comes out of the systems and not the moment-to-moment gameplay. It's fun to slowly take over the map and watch your creep wave advance, and to rack up a huge kill count. It's cool to level up and to try out all the different characters. There's something MMO-like about it. You're basically hitting 1, 2, 1, 2, and doing really rote stuff over and over, but everything around it and the progression of your character and of battles makes it enjoyable albeit mindless. Plus the pseudo-historical stories are good camp fun.

It's shallow and mashy, but the systems are neat in an MMO, or even iPhone game kind of way. A game like Temple Run is just as shallow but it's fun to go through and get gold and unlock characters and so on.

I guess these games must continue selling for the devs to keep churning them out ever two years or so.

Posted by themangalist

Jeff pronouncing "sAngoku musou" as "sEngoku musou" is really confusing because both games exist in the Warriors franchise.

Posted by SomeJerk

Argh.

1) Do not mix to 0 ever, the audio should never spike and reach 0 for more than a clickless burst ever
2) Run mics low if decent vocal compression is unavailable to make up for loud moments
3) Always monitor via headphones, especially during live streams

Just play Kingdom of Fire

Edited by Illuminosopher

I find these games enjoyable they remind me of the simple games of yore.
