Pantsu Fighter?

Posted by RecSpec

Someone saw Bayonetta and saw potential in a fighting game based on it?

Posted by MachoFantastico

The art style is really striking, I'm a fan indeed. Certainly eye catching.

Posted by Vinchenzo

Looks retarded.

Posted by Slaker117

Man this looks fucked up.

Also, fighting with hair is totally becoming a thing, isn't it?

Posted by SaturdayNightSpecials

Poor Brad, he had to talk like the whole time.

This has a real Scott Pilgrim vibe in terms of the character designs. It's something I theoretically should hate, but I like it here.

Edited by ryanwho

I like how models are different looking in night arenas.

Wow, 18 minutes and 2 fighters. Way earlier than I expected.

Posted by DarkShaper

I wonder if those "no smoking" circles when you block will be in the final build, I really like that.

Posted by GunstarRed

The way they move is cool but I really dont like that look of the girls, Something about their faces and proportions seems weird.

Huh, i didnt get that it was a fighting game from the trailer the other day.  Thought it was a side scrolling brawler....

Not too bad

Ugly as sin and looks about as fun to play as watching paint dry. No thank you.

I like the art style but I'm creepy.

Agreed. I've seen fighting games made in flash that are more fun and eye-pleasing than this garbage. Seriously.

Jesus, I just can't get over how horrible this game looks. I can't believe anyone here is willing to say they like the art style. Its fugly.
Posted by Sanious
@MysteriousBob: I can't believe that you don't acknowledge the difference in opinion. I think it looks fine.
Posted by craigbo180

Nice quick look but what is this coming out on? PSN and XBLA or just one of them. It looks like it might be alright.

Posted by Sanj

Some really great animation in there.

That guy who wanted to make a fighting game is a bit of a dick

"Well obviously its a 2D fighter"

Brad - "Oh you mean like Marvel Vs Capcom?" *awkward pause* "They're generally called Versus games.."

Buddy you're doing an interview, be less dickish and Brad's asking these questions for the audience not for himself. You have to think people might not know what 'versus' is.

looks kind of like a flash game

No, it looks to be a smaller Arcana Heart.  Actually Arcana Heart 3 has been announced for the US as a downloadable title.

Though I'm not sure Arcana Heart can match this games bounce.
Posted by kratier

its good insight into the industry, that guy worked in looking glass, thats pretty way back , definitely need more stuff like this shown on the website,

Posted by Dualin

Nice booby bounce animations.

The time counter is really slow.

Love how Brad asks if there will be a training mode... while they are playing in training mode.

Posted by Sammo21

The background art reminds me of a Miyazaki movie.

Posted by Zanny

I think I saw at least some early art for this game a couple of years ago... In any case I love the look this game has. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this.

On a side note, I've heard Jeff and Brad talk about the rather poor state of tutorials for fighting games before and would like to mention that BlazBlue Continuum Shift's tutorial mode is very comprehensive, it covers basic techniques that covers the fighting game genre as a whole, as well as different levels of advanced techniques unique to the franchise. I have yet to see a fighting game do a better tutorial mode then this.

Posted by AnotherSomebody

I do like the character design and the way each one's fighting style is an extension of their hair/hat, but I'm not huge into fighting games.

Posted by metalsnakezero

Nice to see a game in the works instead of a polish demo, allows you to see where they will polish it up.

He meant training, not combat where there isn't damage.

In Brad's defense, the other guy said it was a Versus game, then Brad asked like MVC, and the other guy said that they were called Versus games.

I like the art style - it was kind of confusing what moves were going on at first (like where the arms and legs are in the image) but it was pretty clear by the halfway point in the video.

MIKE Z!!! :D

Well, that looks obnoxious as hell...

Man it took them a long time to discuss the gameplay, and they didn't discuss the story behind the characters. The whole "ladies fighting with magical hats" seems like it might have a cool backstory.

It might be interesting for some, but I'm generally less interested in the business side. I would've loved to hear aobut some concepts for upcoming characters, though. Also, the infinite solution was really nice.

Posted by hermberger

I kinda hate the art style. But to each his own I guess.

Posted by Sayishere

looks really cool

Posted by FaytXIII

I like the character design and the game play. I'm not a really a fan of the HUD and menu. They  just look plain to me and the character select screen gives you descriptions based on each character and you just sort of pick choices to get a character?  Call me old fashioned but I'd rather just have a character select screen like every other fighting game. I realize that the game is still in development but I don't know. I do appreciate game developers trying new things though I suppose.

Rich but static background with very smooth animation...with the deco theme and film terminology, along with the abilities so far having to do something with head, can't really tell what stylish effect they're trying to achieve.

BTW, I bet these guys played Sengoku Rance, one of the characters is more or less a direct ripoff of one of the characters in the eroge.

Cool to see what a game looks like with place holder menus.

Posted by Rmack
I've been watching early builds of this game being played and it looks really, really interesting. Most likely a day one purchase for me

@FaytXIII: They said in the beginning of the interview the HUD elements were not done yet.  I doubt they'd not have a character select screen either.
Posted by CaptainFish
@FaytXIII:
The hud stuff is all temporary. He said that near the start.
Posted by ImmortalSaiyan

I'm surprised, this game looks great.

So it's a american Melty Blood, and combo breakers at any time .... goodbye EVO spot.

Posted by Dante_the_Jedi

I think I will stick with Arcana Heart 3 if I want my anime girl fighting game. The art style is just a bit to western for how I like my anime. I am sure it will be a good game just not for me.

Posted by Mesoian

Looks interesting. The art I don't mind though some of the designs are a little questionable.

I'll have to try it. It's nice to see sprite based fighters still coming out in some venue though.

Posted by Rox360

I think it's blatantly obvious what art is final and what isn't. The character design and animations are gorgeous! I'm really surprised that a small team fighting game manages to stand out to me. Going in, I thought it would be really generic, and for the first minute, I thought it was... But it's actually really, really good looking. Hope this goes well for them!

Posted by RobotHamster

Its a really good looking game.
